See, that does nothing for me cause that could literally be from every Japanese game ever made. So as long as I don't know what this is, I'm fine.

It's Persona 4: Dancing All Night, which originally was just gonna be made by the Hatsune Miku:project Diva team.

There. You know. You can never un-know.

Like i agree that waifu talk is dumb, and waifu culture in general has some really fucking dark and poisonous undertones that I'm increasingly uncomfortable with, but if you don't like anime characters and your relationship with them i don't know why you like persona in the first place.

Burnout Legends was my first burnout game and I loved it.

You know, I think it was mine, too. I had rented 1 and 2 and someone brought over 3. I bought Legends in 2006 (a year after it released). I bought Revenge later that same year (it was my final XBOX purchase). Then I got Paradise in 2008 and Crash via PS+ some years later. I think Burnout: Dominator (the other PSP game) is the only Burnout game I never played.

I would say like with a lot of things, waifu talk is a matter of degrees. A good amount of it is just light hearted and joking. The problem comes when people take it too far, which happens too often, or when it comes up in the wrong place. There is no reason every damn discussion about a new FE or Persona thing has to come to waifus, but some people don't understand time and place.

The teacher is secret best waifu. Charlie and bros should have banged her when they had the chance.

Hard to believe that after such a long wait a new era of waifu wars will be upon us in a few months
when the new Mass Effect comes out

The best waifus are in Yakuza 0 because they are actually real people from Japanese porn, who I totally don't recognize, and you collect trading cards of these women Witcher 1 style.

Waifu talk is so dumb, they are fictional characters.

It's kind of sad its the only reason firer emblem became popular

That's a really shallow way of looking at Awakening's success. Waifu market was part of it, for sure, but there's a far bigger reason FE went mainstream, especially in the US.

It's was the perfect storm of a new FE (not a thrown together remake) on a handheld with a reasonably big install base, a really good sales promotion in the west, and fantastic new accessibility features. To call its success purely waifu driven is missing the larger picture.

Wrong about commas, wrong about everything
Alright, I'm gonna pull a Dan and ask a dumb question:

Is Waifu an actual word or just a dumb "It's wife but it sounds japanese-y" play on words?

Mmmm, that's what I'm afraid of.

Honestly, I feel like I would like the ME series a lot if the gameplay wasn't some below average third person shooting.

I'll take average TPS over dice roll gun shots any day of the week. Even as a huge RPG nerd, I cannot stand how ME1 felt.

I never looked at it this way, I promise.

The conversations at their worst certainly go that way and it's gross. I like to think of a lot of the more light hearted discussion as focused more on the character as a whole, but that's probably a false optimism.

Fire Emblem became popular partly due to accessibility and market share and partly due to finally going full anime and full waifu-fest with more obvious sexualization.

I'd say the fact that pairings and kids have been shoehorned into the 2 newest games probably gives away which one of those is more important as a whole.

Wouldn't surprise me if there's some milking mini-game in the Switch game.

Face Rubbing wasn't even liked in the original Japanese market. I don't expect to see any overt concept like that come back for FE15 (Or 16 if you count Echoes as 15)

Kids are a two fold thing. People 100% like shipping characters and I won't discount that as an aspect of the success, but people also loved the gameplay ramifications of kids as well. Coming up with the most over powered pairings for kids is a big part of what people talk about with that feature.

So, did FE benefit from digging more into the shipping side? Sure. But to pretend that was the single thing that made the series blow up is missing the forest for the trees.

I wear a mass effect hoodie I bought during the launch of mass effect 2 but I never finished any of those games. I just thought it looked cool
