I kinda hope Vinny doesn't blast through Zelda because I would love to see him fuck around in there for a couple hours on an Extra Life stream later in the year

Vinny "I collect everything" Caravella will never leave BotW. Or else it won't activate that part of his brain at all and he'll blast through it. One of those.

And man... BotW is quite A Game™. I want to worship it right now. Nowhere near finished, but it's been a tour-de-force of everything so far.
alex is the most "me too" guy out there
Across all the duders, I might've agreed with you pre-2016, but now? No way.

You need to hear 2016's Hottest Mess discussion. It will change the way you perceive Alex Navarro. Dude had his piece and knew where it belonged, and it was incredible.

This also feels alot like Vinny in far too many cases. Jeff, Brad, Dan (to a lesser extent) seem to rule the roost on opinion in most cases. Maybe time at GBEast will be good for Dan.

It's because Vinny doesn't like to compare games and tearing down another game by trying to get his favorites up there, so more often than not he'll state his reason and just go with the flow.

Yeah, Zelda has some definite flaws, I can't deny them. But it may just be the best game I've ever played. I'm like Dan in that I need to finish it and spend some time away with it before I say anything definitive, but it's just been incredible so far. Other games have given me joy and made me smile like an idiot, but this is the first one where I truly feel like I'm on an adventure discovering new places. The one big criticism that brings the game down for me is dungeons, and I've only done one, so it could get better. The build up to getting to the village, and then the build up to the dungeon was epic as fuck. The actual dungeon was cool, but I wish it was a little more complicated and longer. And the boss was cool but really easy. It was the
Zora/Elephant one
. I liked it a lot, but maybe the others go even further and will make me rescind that complaint. Other than that, this game succeeds at everything I've always wanted open world games to be

I found that dungeon to be really short as well. I've only done one other, and it took me much longer both leading up to and completing to dungeon.

I really, really like what they're going for with the dungeons but I'm not sure that they've nailed it so far.

Yeah it's my big flaw, I like the concept a lot too, just wish there was more to them. It was cool figuring out the central mechanic and conceptually it's really cool. It's just slightly too little for my tastes. Even if they just sprinkled more enemies throughout the dungeon and made the boss harder it would've been better.

Oh well, I'm hoping that we get a MM-style equivalent to this game's Ocarina, where we get to play as a Sheikah or something in the same world with a different take

It's usually because he's outnumbered quite a bit on what he likes and enjoys versus what the general consensus is. GOTY is, as is stated time and time again, a site list and not a personal one. It would still be awesome to more talk up games he likes over just letting them have a nod. It was kind of insane really that he even got ZTD into the discussion this past year, which is something I never in a million years expected.

I agree completely. Fantastic concept for the dungeons, and there's definitely something awe-inspiring about them, but I'd like a bit more in there. Still, only half of them done for me so far.

I would love a followup or larger DLC story. Doesn't seem like the Expansion Pass will really be what I'm looking for, but we'll see.

DLC Pack 2 is supposed to have a new dungeon and story, so that may help round it out

My one big disappointment with Vinny in GOTY was for best old game, he folded on Rondo of Blood like, immediately. I wish he pushed harder for that only because (for me at least), it was a rare-ish game that I hadn't been exposed to before, was fantastic, and made for amazing site content.

I feel like if there was one line of code missing* in Zelda I would utterly hate the game instead of loving it. No idea what it is, I should really dislike this game but I just love every second of it.

*hey there. I'm sure you were just about to lecture me about how the game would probably not function with a line of code missing. Don't.

Three belated Beastcast thoughts:

1. The ribbing of JeffB over the kickstand video was indeed great

2. The Beastcast has never had an interesting conversation about airplane etiquette

3. Vinny getting distracted by the collectibles in Horizon is the least surprising thing

BOTW is honestly the closest thing to my dream game. I've always wanted game that focused on pure discovery in a beautiful varied world. Final fantasy XV had moments of this, but it's pretty much the whole game in BOTW.

You never recline on an airplane in economy. If you wanted to recline, you should have sprung for business class.

Agreed.

There's hardly any decent space in normal conditions on economy class, don't make it even harder for the person behind you.

While I do concede that if the seats allow for that option you can't really be blamed for doing it, it's a matter of common courtesy (granted, not much of that going around today).

If I sat behind Bakalar, I'd kick the shit out of his seat until he complained and I inevitably got kicked off. Fuck people that recline an inch on airplanes in coach.

The biggest complaint I have about botw so far is the controls. I just cannot get used to them and it just seems like everything is just a little bit off to the point where I can't adjust. It would have been nice to be able to remap everything so I'm not constantly fumbling between what button changes weapons, what button changes shields and what button changes powers in the middle of a fight.

Jeff's argument that he only reclines an inch and that's OK because he's not a monster who leans back all the way was absurd. Either own your reclining or don't, there's no half measures.

The airplane armrest thing is pretty simple. Aisle gets one armrest, window gets one armrest, middle gets two.

This is such a common practice I could not believe no one advocated it.

So he wanted to drill holes and used screwdriver bits instead of drill bits? That's actually stupid, sorry.

Wait, Dan was doing all this to bracket his bookcases and stuff to the wall? Does anyone actually do that? I figured it was just the manufacturers covering their ass in the unlikely event your bookcase tips over.

That is just some top level ignant-Dan stuff right there. THE TOOL IS NAMED A DRILL. ITS VERY PURPOSE IS TO DRILL. That he has been using one as a screwdriver is both hilarious and lazy. I mean sure go for it, but also come on dude, IT'S A DRILL.

Nah, that's what they are for. If you ever had to screw in hundreds of screws you will know why.

wow Dan wow.

Imagine Dan on a reality tv show where he had to survive in the wild or on a island. He would probably not make it 24 hours before he died trying to do the simplest thing.

haha. I would pay for 3 more premium subs if this was a GB show. wait it would literally probably kill Dan, scrap that idea.

If Dan was an RPG character he'd have maxed out luck, 2-3 points in Charisma and 0 Intelligence.

Dan is the unholy offspring of Aqua and Kazuma.

I just read an ""article"" called "What if Trump was also Gamer in Chief" and now I want to kill myself. Thanks Polygon (and Alex who retweeted something about it)

This man once claimed he could fight a wolf and escape prison

"Even if the condoms come standard, it's a sweet fucking ride".

Oh my God, this dialogue

This is either Ghost Recon or it's porn parody. I honestly can't tell
