Yep. The controls clearly aren't perfect but Drew's frustration definitely comes, at least in part, from the way he's playing the game and not just the controls.
im starting to think his issue is he's not "playing it right"

something like halo, yup very reflex intensive, but it also has fairly good AI. enemies are unpredictable
MGS on the other hand is EXTREMELY gamey. there are simple and solid fucking rules to everything. every enemy has a cone of vision. there's no unpredictable AI there. you're either in the cone or not. same goes for everyone's patterns. he seems to just not realize everything has super simple patterns and he's not recognizing any of them. especially in the case of these boss fights
or even simple stuff like noticing that after you hit an enemy they blink for 2 seconds before you can hit them again
he's coming at the game like it's something more modern, and making it more complicated than it is

I think he can react with his reflex just fine, it's just that he's very bad at spotting patterns.
If you look at the grey fox video in particular he can't seem to tell when an attack animation ends or even realise the fact that there are invincibility frames.

Drew goes to North Korea is really interesting stuff.
Search google for the unprofessional Friday featuring Lego island. You may be able to search that game on the site and it might be linked to the upf.
Definitely catch up on the ongoing metal gear scanlon, great stuff.

Yeah, it's a combination of:
'Unnatural' pace of play sessions
Playing a game way outside your wheelhouse
Dated controls and gameplay mechanics
Knowing you're being watched by the internet and having to play first thing in the morning
It's fine and makes it even funnier with Dan's reactions. I just hope he can stick with it for the full series. It may not be called an Endurance Run, but it may be the first real endurance run.

I'm watching about 15-20 minutes of Metal Gear Scanlon by skipping due to Dan's unappreciated praise of the game during Drew's most fatigued moments, Drew's overall negativity about the game, Dan's lack of knowledge about this game he keeps saying is so amazing, and an overall lack of interesting commentary going on because it's dominated by Drew being frustrated and Dan hamfistedly trying to compensate for the audience by being overly positive.
I think you might be misinterpreting dan. He is really enthusiastic about the stuff he likes.

It's either trying to compensate or he just doesn't know how to adjust himself based on Drew to present a good video. It's awkward and makes the game look worse.

He would be a terrible dad. I mean, for starters, he'd never able to look you in the eye, as if he were ashamed of something. Then he would skulk about whenever your back is turned. There's just nothing to suggest he would be any good at it whatsoever.
There would be no trust, no love, and no respect... I honestly don't know why you'd even suggest it.

What if dad fell on top of me ?
He moved back to New York so he could be closer to his family while raising his kid. He and Alex just setup a temp Giantbomb East studio and have done a few videos already.
He moved to the east coast, he now works in NY doing video content with Alex, not going to be on the podcast anymore. He just had another kid though so he's on a break for a little while.

The people cringing over Dan's treatment of the Scotch is silly. Even the best alcohol tastes like shit compared to soda or juice. Might as well mix it with something tasty. If you have to leave something warm or let it get watered down first or whatever it's probably no worth drinking in the first place. Similar to my philosophy on coffee. Anything you have to add that much shit to is probably just gross.
