This Metro Redux quicklook isn't great, those are probably the 2 worst people to QL those games. Didn't really feel like they gave them a fair shot, oh well, I really enjoy them.

Exactly. Thankfully the game has been selling relatively well. If there's any developer that deserves good publicity and sales, it's motherfucking 4A games.

I totally agree, I find it weird that Dan praised The Last of Us HD in the QL being high point of HD remakes but Metro 2033 is entire remake of the original game in a new engine with significant improvements, Brad seemed a little more open about it, would have preferred to have seen him play it and give his opinion.

Dan probably just doesn't have the attention span for the Metro games. They are more mature and complex than he's used to and have almost no wrestling at all. I can see how he'd hate them. I mean, there also no anime in it unlike his favourite series Metal Gear Solid. How can Metro compare favourable to the best anime story ever told?
Dan has a mindset of a 17 year old, it's quite amazing how he managed to go through life with such a lack of common sense / basic knowledge in a variety of situations.
Seems to me like he is stuck in his college mindset probably, lavishing praise on franchises that should just be a quick fun playthrough while drinking a beer.

I was super into the Stalker series, so I was excited for the Metro games for more of that atmosphere and I just ended up kind of hating the first Metro. Not because it wasn't Stalker, but just because I found it extremely tedious and unfun.

When talking about cheesing classes in college he mentioned that he spent a ton of his time writing game reviews. It seems like he put a lot of work into building a career in the video game industry, and i think his success reflects that he has some idea of what he's doing.

Just saw that Metro Redux quick look. I am already not the biggest fan of Dan but at least he is honest. However this video is just not done well. A lot of it is just complaining instead of attempting to play the game.

Dan's the only one there that really has enthusiasm for anything, so it sticks out a lot more when he doesn't like something.
But come on, it's not like walking in to a game predisposed to disliking it is something new and different for Giant Bomb. It just bothers people this time because it's a game you disagree on.

Not to me. I do think it is part of the following that likes the games yes but, to me and and I am sure others is how informative this quick look is. Again he can not like a game, whatever differing opinions but more than half the video isn't even about the game in question they are playing and extreme amount of disinterest. I am not even a big fan of the Metro games and this just seems like bashing. I get he says it isn't for him but, I dunno if it makes you that mad why agree for a Quick Look? I dunno seems like they shouldn't have put this up.

As far as actual, interesting videos about the game go? Yes, it's piss-poor. For Giant Bomb? A video led by people entirely disinterested in it is par for the course.

Then they shouldn't have put out quick looks for every dynasty warriors game, quick looks for fighting games that aren't mortal kombat or street fighter, any sport games really, or even the original demon's soul quick look going by your metric.

I guess I am saying that but I didn't mean it like that exactly. This one just seems a bit more "I don't care about this game" than usual to me; almost like an extreme case of it. It could be just the way Dan is expressing it and I am not used to it.

I mean, being fair on Dan, at least he put in the beginning few hours before shitting on it. That is already an improvement over the dismissiveness that jeff, ryan and occasionally brad brings to quick looks they don't really care about.

Too many methodical, survival elements that take away from constant gunplay is what he blabbered about for a minute or so. Then he complained about actions having animations instead of just instantly toggling. Neither of which are common AAA game situations.

He played a couple hours of it and realized he didn't like it. That will sometime be the result of one of them playing a game. Both the Destiny and Dynasty Warrior QLs also had this theme. A QL is about them giving their impression and thoughts, good or bad. Dan didn't end up liking Metro Redux, and even said in the video that it's just not for him, and that he recognizes that it's excellent on the technical side and can see how some people would like it. I'm not sure why this QL is controversial when them not enjoying a game happens in other QLs as well.

I think the only positive QLs we'll get this year will be indie games, maybe AC: Unity (because they did ignore all the bad parts of AC4 in favor for the good ones), and Jeff convincing himself Far Cry 4 is game of the year.

No, not that one, his point about having to do extended sessions where the game shoves a cutscene or forces you to walk through a story segment. Too many games try to take a cinematic approach.
Which is why even though they are completely different games I prefer STALKER over the metro series.
People need something to be angry about. This is far from the first QL that's one or more staff members just shitting on a game. I'm guessing fans of the game don't like it, but now you know how fans of Dynasty Warriors have felt for years

I just got done with the SB QL and it's the same thing.
