Titanfall 2, while not having one particular element I'd call the best, I can support without caveat. Hitman has some bullshit online requirements, DOOM has worthless multiplayer, and Overwatch's boxes are still troubling F2P stuff in a non-F2P game way.

All modes in Titanfall 2 are pretty darn good.

Also made the mistake of reading the comments on the Oculus Reddit for Palmer lucky winning Hottest mess. Good lord some of those people trying to "defend" him.

Vinny is a god dammed artist. Between Hitmas, Kerbal, and Truck simulator, I think he's provided me with the best enertainement of anyone in any medium in 2016.

It feels like the first time in ages they were playing a videogame together for their own benefit as much as for us. You can just tell what an incredible time they were having and it was impossible not to break out laughing at points with them.

I'd much rather see it win over something like Overwatch for sure.

The battle is between hitman and doom. Overwatch never had a chance as overall goty.

I already really liked Alex but his stance on Hottest Mess made me respect him more. Everybody was ignoring the issue and he just said what was needed to be said about it in a really passionate way. He even wanted for it to stand alone so it was clear what the mess was and it wasn't muddled around with other shit.

Anyway, great start and Alex is awesome.

I normally consider Hottest Mess and Best Style to be light categories, but they were surprisingly competitive this year. I admire Alex's statements on the Hottest Mess category.

What I gathered from this episode is that the GOTY top 10 will have some games that will be hotly contested. The Witness, Stardew Valley, Inside, and Superhot all seem like they will have heated discussion around them.

So now that I've watched everything from Day 1:

-That Best Debut category was effectively "GotY that isn't a sequel". So many good fucking games in there.
-Kudos to Alex for saying what needed to be said and being fucking real about something that needed realness during hottest mess.
-This Hitsmas video was amazing and I want someone to take the data from hitmanmaps.com and make some java app or something and make a real game out of "random outfit + random weapon + random bullshit" for Hitman 2016. Then let people just submit youtube links. (BernardoOne, get on this!)
-Brendon Chung is a fantastic guy and his choices and drawings are good.
-Swery is the best dude ever.

If Dan targeted The Witness in the Best Debut section I feel he could have got Stardew Valley in that top 3. Instead he went after SUPERHOT.

Made by Kotti who's a prominent member of the community, he even designed one of the escalations in the game (The Kotti Paradigm).

it ends in fucking maddeningly frustrating fashion as usual because he had really bad map awareness and not a great grasp on the mechanics of the game. Only Brad gets how cautious you have to be every step of the way ever since he started playing at home.

If anything he should have targeted Overwatch. I'm quite amazed it took Best Debut by default despite nobody having any strong feelings on the game.

Well, Vinny has played the game enough to get mastery on 1-2 levels so I think he was maybe "messing up", in parts, for the camera
