I think the only mark against Hitman really is the god-awful level in Colorado. Is part of the full package, it's dogshit.
I'll be pissed if Hitman wins over Doom. Hitman seems cool but it has a serious case of "the giant bomb effect". Its fun for them to stream and its fun for people to watch but is it really THAT fun for the average joe who just plays games by himself?
Mario Maker won last year because of this and I think it misrepresented the game.

Not chiming in is not a neutral stance. This is a video game podcast about video games, if Dan didn't feel the need to chime in during that discussion it's not damning at all. You are reading way too much into his silence and are accusing him of something based on nothing. How is it possible to still not know the facts after Alex lined them out for the table on the podcast? I have no doubt that Dan is aware of the facts and is opposed to Luckey, but he effectively took a neutral stance to the ears of casual podcast listeners by not even chiming in to say "Yeah, fuck him" like everyone else did (besides maybe Drew I think). That's all I'm saying. Suggesting he's still ignorant of politics to such an extreme degree here at the end of 2016 is incredibly damning.
Best moment/sequenceWow, I can't believe Dan never figured out the Witness environmental puzzles. I actually thought that wasn't really a big surprise. As soon as I saw the game let you go into "puzzle" view without being near an actual puzzle, I thought there would be some form of environmental puzzles. Then when I was in the town area I saw a very clear line and did the puzzle, and thought "huh, that's cool". I didn't realise people could go so far into the game without figuring that stuff out or even doing it accidentally.

Similarly, when I found out that there are environmental puzzles, it was more of a "Huh, alright" than a mindblowing moment.
But I still had a cool experience with it, because the first few ones I found were super obvious, but then I came across one that vaguely looked like the correct shape, but seemed too subtle to be a real one. I still tried it for some reason and when it worked I literally said "What the fuck, I was just kidding" out loud.
Day 4? Alex is leftmost. What's the name of the guy sitting to the very left of screen in the week 4 video?
Been listening to the Bombcast for years but only just putting names to faces.
Day 4? Alex is leftmost.
Exactly.Sorry yeah day 4.
So it goes from left to right - Alex, Vinny, Jeff, Brad, Jason, Dan with Drew sort of where the camera is?

Colorado is great, having an entirely hostile map to showcase that end of the game's mechanics is really neat.I think the only mark against Hitman really is the god-awful level in Colorado. Is part of the full package, it's dogshit.

I imagine it's fairly difficult if you're bad at the game, but given that even Brad could finish it I think it's pretty fairly balanced.
What the fuck happened in here?.

Thumper was R-O-B-B-E-D of best music
anyone else feel like titans were the worst part of titanfall 2? they just felt really sluggish and not as much fun to play as just running and gunning as a pilot.
thats because mario maker was the wrong choice.
only 2 guys had it in their personal top 10. MGS5 was their real GOTY by far.
everyone loved mgs5, only dan and jeff loved mario maker.
its not even a game, you had to make the levels yourself
come at me bro
Also there's no way uncharted 4 makes it onto the list at all.
My favorite moments from Day 3.
Here's a Neogaf script that blocks gifs from imgur and the like for those with data caps or slow internet.
Wow, just got around to listening to the podcast and Jeff trying to put his foot down against Inside is the most awkward fucking moment in the history of Giant Bomb. How is it possible for one person to be so lacking in self awareness...
Like, that straight up exposed him as seeing everyone there as his employees and that he thinks his opinion is more important than theirs.
"I think the rest of the room is against you."
"Yes, but I don't like it."
I wonder if Persona 5 can win best game, best music and best style next year.
Everything checks out here.
Based on individual top 10s they like it less than Bloodborne which didn't make the collective top 10 last year, so that's a safe bet.
Not to mention this is GIANTBOMBS game of the year. If it wins because that's the game they, GIANTBOMB, had the most fun with so be it. They are not picking what is objectively the game of the year, they are picking the sites.Sorry but you're crazy if you think Hitman isn't fun for the average player. I completely agree with you on Mario Maker, they had a way different experience with it then average players did but Hitman is not the same case at all. It is an incredibly fun game, iO nailed it.

I guarantee the first conversation about Persona 5 will entail Jeff going, "I expected to like it more."

This thread is making a late charge for "Worst Giant Bomb Gaming thread of 2016", but the Shenmue Endurance Run thread is still standing tall.
Keep it going guys.

That's only because he'll want it for most disappointing too so it can have more awards.
We're trying.
I'm unsure about whether Inside or Shenmue is the worse game, they're both pretty bad.
I haven't played P5 yet, but I hear it's wonderful, and I also fully expect this to be Jeff's thoughts on it.
