Also I dunno, I like the characters in Persona 5 more than 4. Chie was awesome, Yosuke sucked, Yukiko sucked, Rise sucked, Teddie is alright but Morgana is better, and Kanji was cool. Ryuuji is a punk but he isn't a piece of shit like Yosuke, and I'm still early on but Makoto is a badass

Dan's hatred of Drawn to Death is both hilarious and strange at the same time. The game doesn't really do anything for me personally, but at the same time, it seems like the humor would be right up Dan's alley. Also, his aversion towards anime is weird as hell. Like, I'm not an anime guy at all, but I can still enjoy stuff that's anime. I get the feeling that it's just some deep seeded thing that he picked up from Metal Gear that all people who like Anime are losers like Otacon. I'm starting to think that close-mindedness and ignorance just run in the Ryckert family.
This is like that episode of SpongeBob where Squidward wont try a Crabby Patty. One day Dan is going to try and anime and just get hooked. He's just afraid that he'll end up liking it lol
Edit: Oh shit, I just realized that this is just Dan not being able to come to terms with his True Self just like in Persona!! I wonder what Carl Jung would say about Dan.

Nah P3 was my first but I enjoyed 4 much more. I'm also enjoying 5 even more than 4 so far, so everything is coming up Millhouse.

It does seem that way. But interestingly, almost everyone who preferred P3 over 4 also prefers 5 over 4, while people who loved 4 feel 5 is worse.
I played P4G first and liked P3 way more.
I need to go back to Persona 2 at some point.
Golden was my entry point and Persona 3 is better is pretty much every way except it lacks direct control in combat. Persona 5 might end up being my favorite after this.

In this specific case I feel like I've heard this lame argument 9 times. I know what he's going to say before he's gonna say it and I know it makes no sense. Like I said, I'm fine with him not having an interest, I'd just rather they leave it at that than press him to do the song and dance over again.
And I'm not trying to rag on Dan, because he doesn't volunteer to go into that shtick, he listens politely, and when asked says it doesn't appeal to him. That's totally cool.
I tried playing it and hated the combat. Maybe I'll watch a let's play or something.

Yeah, the gameplay of the early games doesn't hold up well, but they are fascinating to see. They all have a unique, eerie atmosphere to them.
I haven't listened to the podcast yet, but can someone edit Dan's reasoning for not playing Persona back to back with Paul Ryckert's reasoning for not watching Westworld when Dan recommended it to him in a holiday podcast?
I look forward to many more 4ft penises.

I'm not into turn based JRPGs. The only one I loved and enjoyed playing was Pokemon. To me, giving a command to a Pokemon to do what is necessary when it is your turn makes sense but when it comes to other games I'm always like "Why the fuck would you just stand there with your enemy right infront of you?" obviously, it's like chess and while I like chess, I don't like it being made into gameplay. If that makes any sense.
I always love when it when Dan talks about Metal Gear Solid. I know exactly where he's coming from on the Beastcast, I'd put it in this way. The more serious and grounded stuff in the MGS world I feel, overshadow the unrealistic things in the long run. However, for me I can't get into Persona not because of its tone but because it's turn based. Really enjoyed the discussion!
Stopped the quick look as soon as that bass dropped and bought the game. I'm all about the rhythm games which reminds me, I wish they'd bring Rock Band Blitz on Xbox one. I adore that game.

Vinny got this, from episode 1 he knows what Dan's weakness is. He just needs to be more patient and now with him knowing there's no chip damage, it should be alot more smoother for him. Good stuff.
