If Gamespot recognizes they have/had a personality issue with some of their folks, I think they're moving in the right direction. She's been good on everything I've seen or heard with her.
Wasn't she at Polygon ? Did she quit ?
Alexa was always way too cool for Polygon tbh
Seeing as Jared's departure tweets said it was "health and happiness" related, and does not want any future "community roles" in games, and he also linked the HBK "losing his smile" video I am guessing he got sick and tired of dealing with idiots fans of games.
He was also out there being a community manager for a huge shitshow of a game with features he loved from past versions taken out, and having to spin things as all great. Unless you're just a terrible human being with no problems lying to the public, that's going to be draining regardless of the people you're dealing with on the other end.

Alexa from Polygon is at Gamespot now.

She was great the two times she was on the morning show. Hope they get her on UPF sometime.
I remember Frushtick, Plante and Russ Pitts all leaving fairly recently. What's up with that site?Wasn't she at Polygon ? Did she quit ?
Drunk Jared got really, really emotional on the Summerslam Powerbombcast about VGCW and what 2K15 would do/wouldn't do to that show.
Guess we might get Alexa on some GB content at some point in the future?
I think it was a different episode, but he also all but admitted months ago that the story creation would be taken out and the create-wrestler would be gimped in some way. They were talking about VGCW and whether it would continue on the new consoles and he got all high pitched nervous "They can always stay on the current game, right?"
Every time the game got brought up he just deflated. Then again, 2K's policy on the game seems to be "SHUT THE FUCK UP ABOUT THE GAME" so it could just be that he wasn't allowed to say anything at all.

They are moving away from long-form features and reporting and into a more immediate product.
Our Entertainment Editor will take charge of our expansion into non-gaming media, amping up our coverage of TV, movies and comics in (and this is the crucial part) ways that Polygon readers like yourself will be eager to read.

But didn't Gamespot lay off a bunch of people? And now they're rehiring? I dun get it.

They're refocusing to a personality-driven site. How many of the people laid off were on-camera personalities?
What if they like merged Gamespot and Giant Bomb into one site, woooaaahhhh.
They could call it Gamebomb and become huge, even international, like, maybe start a site in Russia! What if they like merged Gamespot and Giant Bomb into one site, woooaaahhhh.

can someone explain to me how Super Best Friends is already on their 7th thread? As a lifelong Giant Bomber, i am feeling both curious and slightly threatened by these whippersnappers

Have they said what they're going to being doing for the Master Chief collection given it's such a large package? Hoping for more than just a quick look, especially given Drew is such a fan of the series.

By not talking about Super Best Friends in that thread. If this thread turned into a non-stop random discussion thread then it'd move a lot faster than it does now.
It's a chat room. For as fast as the GB threads go, it's almost always on-topic.
Last night people in the thread had to convince some of the regulars to stop posting porn fan fic (of some anime? I don't know) over there. It's weekend all year long in that thread.

What is Super Best Friends? I saw it brought up in here before and just assumed it was some funny fan name for some pairing on GB(Drew and Jason obviously). I can't see that getting it's own thread and reaching 7 of them, so I guess it isn't what I thought it was.
aOh jeez, that explains why they quickly made their way to community. It took them 5+ years to get us!
merger got canceled during the avalon stream
A Youtube Let's Play channel. They also have their own podcast. They have modelled a lot of what they do on Giant Bomb, which the two core guys are big fans of (Pat and Matt). They're okay, but they got too loud for my old man ears.
You know, if GS is hiring people, it makes you wonder why they let go of people a couple of months ago... including the two most senior people with the GS group. :/

Fun fact: The King of the Quick Looks is the only QL on the site I haven't watched from beginning to end.
What do they usually do for HD collections? IIRC it's launching and playing each version a bit. I imagine they'll do the same thing here, while talking about some of the changes.
I fully expect The Elder Scrolls Online to remain King of the Quick Looks, even in a post-Halo HD Collection world.
