Premium Thanksgiving sale announced on the Bombcast. Some people were wondering about that earlier here.
Jeff was talking about it on the podcast and assumed/hoped that stuff was somehow a parody of microtransactions because it wasn't clear if you could actually spend real life money on it in the version they had. I think that says a lot about where we're at with this stuff now. They explicitly said that the microtransaction part of it (which they, again, weren't sure was actually a thing when they recorded the podcast) wasn't in the game.

It's pretty telling that my first thought was that the kid who got injured would have been set for life if he had sued the cup manufacturer and the retailer who sold it. That's something a company would pay a shit load of money to settle because they are going to get absolutely reamed by a jury.

It was a convoluted argument, but I agree that you could probably separate the old school 2D Mario games from what came after (it wouldn't make much sense to make Mario 64 a numbered sequel to the 2D games). That was all he was saying, really.

Like the E3 night shows the Giant Bomb GOTYcasts are pretty significant series of podcasts that pull the curtain back on how video game industry luminaries determine their Game of the Year. /s
Which is to say they do a pretty great job of being transparent about their decision making process and open it up for people to scrutinise (or more likely laugh) at their own leisure.

The one impression of DA:I I'm waiting for. I really hope that the dialogue choices aren't as sparse as they seem.
Daydreaming, if I have one request for the GOTY thread it is that you find a good thread title. Giant Bomb GOTY 2014 alone seems so sparse. Hopefully something about how hard it'll be to find 10 games that are better than Destiny.
