I'd love to see a Souls game set in a world that isn't completely fucked already. Give me whole cities of NPCs going about their normal lives, questing out to dungeons and more dangerous areas.

gonna be hilarious if the game crashes after all this setup

So what if there's a delay? I mean, how is it any different from other games with staggered territory releases?

Oh right I forgot we're in the world of instant gratification and it's a Souls game.

I kinda wonder if the people doing the region switching will get banned.

The hilarious thing is that Demon's Souls came out like a year or so after its Japanese release (which, too, was pretty much entirely translated with just a few errors needing corrections) and it wasn't like it hurt the series and/or the game in any sort of way.

People need to chill the fuck out, surely bamco has their reasons for the release date chosen and if that bothers you so much you now live in a world where Amazon ships shit out of japan and you can also buy stuff digitally from the console's japanese stores, too.

only people who might feel left out over this is PC gamers but, hey, they're already used to Dark Souls games coming out with a delay so this is nothing new for them anyhow.

Though in DD I think it is a bit generous to call the NPCs "people".

compared to dark souls it might as well be sim city in so far as NPCs and living towns are concerned

Don't recommand bad games

when did i do that?

For the PC folks.

Isn't there a big zeitgeist element to the Souls games, though? The way people treat the games always gave me this Fez-lite vibe, where every aspect of the game has the chance to surprise people. I'm not saying the fervor's justified, but it's totally understandable. Also, your Demon's Souls point doesn't really work since that was the first game in the series, so there wasn't this huge following the games have now.

Technical difficulties; the real dark souls starts here

it does blunt the whole now-its-all-out-there argument though because it was all out there like a year in advance and it hampered no one's enjoyment of the game whatsoever.

i dunno, maybe it's because the story and world building stuff in a DS game is like the story in porn for me: im not coming to those games because i want to know more about the downfall of Anor Rondo or what Havel and Ornstein were up to before they got their kewl armor or anything. I just want to wreck shit and i don't really care about what the premise behind these games is, i just love the way they play.

If the zeitgeist is so important that you feel you need to keep up with people halfway across the world from you, then you should probably just import the game, right? There will still be plenty of people playing the game for the first time when it's out in English.

It's like Jeff said about localization. If that specific experience is so important to you, well, you can just go and buy that specific experience.

The only real reasons for making us wait these 3 weeks is fiscal year and marketing things.

It's unacceptable that we should be made to wait for the game when it's clearly already done and out.

I wonder how much this has to do with the shit tier frame pacing in the engine. They really should run it borderless and use RTSS.

That's pretty much my attitude on games as a whole. If a game's story is good, which they typically aren't, I consider it a bonus. I'm here for the gameplay, first and foremost.

Dont get me wrong, as someone who grew up on Lucasarts adventure games on the PC I still have a fondness for stuff like Until Dawn and the occasional Telltale game because I like a more passive but well done experience every now and then. It's just that with action heavy games, i dont really mind if the story is pure garbo so long as youre not shoving it in my face

like fucking watch dogs, what garbage that was
