also, this bombcast is really killing my VR boner. One of these headset has to ship with more than tech demos right? Some hidden gem that has gone overlooked but turns out to justify the whole thing.
Even the more flashed out ones are nothing I'm interested in. That's my main gripe with VR right now.

VR isn't about video-games. They are just the entering point. Facebook didn't invest in a gaming platform. They invested in a social tool.

They are putting video-games in VR because it's an easy way to show off the tech so, in a way, it's all about tech demos. VR's applications outside of video-games are much more interesting and what the end goal here is.

At launch?
Doubtful

yeah, becomes a question of how long I guess.

Summer lessons.

You joke but I would love to see Jeff do a new creeper cam. Him playing this or watching VR porn. No footage of what he is seeing - just the cam on Jeff. Low res grey scale CCTV filter.

I do! Unfortunately the answer is "kinda none of them." EVE looks great and Elite will continue to be great. I'm not sold on Lucky's Tale but it could be fun.
.

I can see Elite. Not really a "this can only be done in VR" but maybe a "this is so much better in VR". Like a track IR is for flight sims. Actually, flight sims in general could be cool in VR.

Who says I'm joking?

In all seriousness though, character interactions is something I think can be very interesting in VR, just due to having a sense of personal space.

Still in it for summer lessons, though if they do confirm guy characters too that aren't harada I am extra in for summer lessons.

Yeah I put a lot of time in Elite with my DK2, and I had no desire to play the game without it. I can't wait to get back to it after having taken like 6 months off.
This made me laugh more than it should have.

Mario maker streams are great, ya'll are crazy.

I still love watching Mario Maker. Keep 'em coming!

not quite the same but i went to a Bjork exhibition last year that had a vr music video and having some one you're a fan of sing a foot from your face at you in vr is pretty crazy i think i even blushed.

super intimate vr things are going to be a big thing i reckon a million 1 direction fans lost in headsets.

Yup. As a massive adventure game fan these bite-sized VR 'experiences' are right up my alley (not enough to buy a headset yet tho). But actual games? Nah - VR dev is still very much in the exploratory phase (which it might never grow past). Tested were talking about this recently and it's very true - outside of ported cockpit sims, we don't even really know what a 'full game' will look like in VR, or even be comfortable.

Just imagining what must go on at MS HQ at times
"Google's AI just beat the world's Go champion 4 times and people are going nuts. What have we got ready right now?"
"a savage af chat bot"
"Ship it"

For me, the cockpit games are more than enough for the purchase(s) to be worth it. There is other VR stuff that I ended up being fascinated with that I'm looking forward to doing again, such as exploring areas from Zelda games in VR. Being in those worlds that I love is so incredible.

I'm also in for the all the experiments that will come out of this early phase. Being there for the advent of a new format going commercial is pretty fascinating to me.

That feeling when you buy a brand new pair of over the ear headphones to replace your 10y old wireless Turtlebeach set..... Man..... Sounds soooo gooooddddd

Also, eleven articles and already a repeat writer, but this time without a podcast because they would be retreading a lot of stuff he wrote about in his first guest article.

I dunno, maybe it's just me, but these articles don't really seem like they fit on a site like GB.

On the other hand video games is an industry where crunch and shit happen a lot so, like, maybe there's something to it

The greatest video game pasttime, unions and you.

Seriously, Unions can be incredibly shitty. They're not gods gifts to the planet, and they definitely shouldn't be in an article on a video game website.

Unions is one of those things that is really great on paper but is actually kinda shitty most of the time once it's out in the real world.
