Do we know what

Another Quality Live Broadcast from Your Friends at Giant Bomb
Live Show - Monday at 3:00 PM

is?

Maybe they don't know if they can pull off a VR launch stream yet so if it goes south they could still play Clash Royale or something.

Every time I listen to Austin talking about a game on the podcast the first thing that goes through my mind is "Man... That dude must be a fucking bummer at parties"...

It's possible to play and enjoy a game without having to always dig for a deeper meaning into everything.

If weird VR experiments means porn I'm right there with you.

It's a bank holiday today so that's basically the weekend, right?

Nah, I won't. You two do you or something.

Though I do wonder now how much weirder dynamics VR can add to sexual relationships. Would fucking someone while wearing VR to pretend that you're with someone else be considered cheating?
What if two people think they're both using VR to pretend they're fucking other people, but in truth are fucking VR simulations of each other?

It's possible to do both.
True love?

What if both people wear VR helmets to fuck VR reconstructions of themselves?

Would itl be masturbation?
Oh my.

For real though.

VR will bring a lot of weird questions to our lives.

It's really the first step to our cyberpunk dystopia.

VR parties

yes/no
I'm pro every party so long as everything is consensual

On another note: Halo 4 gets better the further it walks away from trying to be scifi COD and tries to be a halo game. Also, the new enemies are a refreshing change of pace after about 5 halo games of fighting the flood and covenant forces. If anything, the game sticks too much to the typical halo structure at times. Oh, one last thing: this story is going to require that I see all the terminals for it to kinda make sense isn't it?

I look forward to finishing it and finally watching drew and alexis play through it and hear their thoughts about the game.

Austin is pretty fun to watch playing DS3. Less chaotic than Vinnie. Less cautious than Brad. Also willing to try new weapons when he find then, rather than sticking with the safe option all game.

Austin is pretty fun to watch playing anything

i agree, popo. Watching him wreck the living shit out of Galak-Z while still engaging in a casual conversation with chat during Extra Life was some top tier stuff coming from Austin.

Yup. Have they given any indication if DS3 will become an ongoing thing for them?

i hope not. I'd rather see them do other features than another Souls feature. Like i would watch twenty factorio update vids than one Souls video, if you wanted a ratio on that.

I guess we still have at least a QL to look forward to though.

Brad said at the end of this weeks bombcast that the Dark Souls 3 content going up this week may be the start of many looks at it but I would assume that's just a reference the current video and then a QL.

It would be cool if they brought back the idea they had for Dark Souls 2 where they did a check in with each others characters.

It's probably the terrible hipster in me but the moment they started exploiting the souls formula like any other big franchise out there was the moment I lost my interest in it.

Just watching them trying to call back so many things from the previous games just screams desperation to me. "Remember when this was cool? Huh? HUH!?"

Like what? I don't really get any of that from Bloodborne or Dark Souls 3.

DSIII is very much pulling stuff from the other games, i mean it's evident even within that crash-filled video that the game has a bit of fanservice to it.

Here's the thing: they've all pretty much had that to some degree or another. The moment I saw Patches in Dark Souls i wanted to put a sword through his throat, for example.

So, really, it's not that DSIII is leaning too much into callbacks and fanservice so much as people are seeing it now and instead of thinking "neat" they're projecting their own franchise fatigue at it and going "they're milking it."

I wish I could be excited for Dark Souls 3. I got into 1 for a bit and thought I was going to finally start loving them but my feelings for the Souls series never got past "decent fun" and now it's back at "blah". I enjoy watching people play the games much more than I enjoy playing them myself.

Patches is like, 1 thing.

And dark souls broke away from the demon's souls formula in quite significant ways.

Also can you deny that they are milking it? Maybe that's why people are feeling the fatigue?

Making the hub seem exactly like the nexus? Andre?

It could all make sense due to the story but argh, with no context I can't help but roll my eyes.

I guess I just don't get the impression that it's being done just for the sake of fan service.

I think it's being done because it's part of the story that they are telling and it's just a case of these games not being upfront about the story that could make it come off as nothing other than a throwaway reference.

Snuggly the Crow in dark souls is basically Sparkly the Crow from demon's souls, too

They likely would've pulled more from Demon's if they could but at some point they would find themselves getting on sony's bad side for basically making Demon's Souls 2 without the license to do so. So i'm guessing the callbacks weren't as plentiful in DS1 to avoid such a thing.

Also can you deny that they are milking it? Maybe that's why people are feeling the fatigue?

I mean it all depends, right? If you're an Xbox or PC gamer then you've only had three DS games to play through. That feeling of fatigue is likely much heavier with folks who have been playing on Playstation and since Demon's Souls, if i had to guess at it.

I think I'm gonna watch the original Demon's Souls QL again. From memory their reaction was mainly bafflement mixed with some light disgust.

Oh yeah snuggly. I'll give you that one. But as the bombcrew once said, everything is about context. Doing it for a somewhat spiritual successor is fine to me, but repeat that in a whole bunch of sequels and you'll lose my interest afterwards.

I guess I just don't get the impression that it's being done just for the sake of fan service.

I have no doubt that they'll tie it back story-wise, but I never really understand why that's used as an excuse. It still comes off as fanservice. It doesn't inspire any intrigue in me.

It's just like when they put the Dragon slayer in 2. It feels like a non-sequitur.

I watched it a while ago. Jeff thought it had some neat ideas but he also thought the game look kinda bad.

Aaand I have now installed Clash Royale...
