I'm glad to see so many people pulling for Saints Row The Third as #1, too.
I just got the game on the cheap the other day and have only put in two hours, but I'm pretty blown away. I feel bad for not buying it at release.

The best story category better be full of spoilers. And not little spoilers, I'm talking big juicy spoilers that make weaker gaffers run for the hills. If they pull punches here to benefit spoiler babies I will be upset!
You know, I tried the demo and it just didn't click with me. I just didn't get the big deal with the narrator... I mean he narrates. Okay? Interesting I guess, but the novelty wore off before the demo ended (for me). Plus I didn't like how he would interpret my actions incorrectly. No I'm not "raging out for a bit" I just want to collect stuff from the barrels :/

I haven't played MK, but I can understand why it's on the list. It basically reinvented the fighting game story mode.

It doesn't suck, it has a lot of highs.
It's just that everyone in GB seems to be remembering those highs and not the BORING middle hours which totally brings the game down. It begins and (to an extent) ends strong, but those 6 hours inbetween? Zzzzz.
It's probably going to win GOTY and I strongly disagree with that, but hey.

I'd be very happy for Saints Row: The Third to win GOTY, which it seems like it will (and should). It seems tailor-made for the Giant Bomb guys and I'm glad it seemed to even exceed their expectations. That kind of crazy dumb-but-smart humor in it is really hard to pull off, and I'm glad to see it's getting recognized for it.

Jeff slammed the door on Portal 2 coop. From this discussion and others, it seems like Jeff only likes coop and multiplayer, as long as, he doesn't have to rely on other players and doesn't have to adjust his play style for teamwork's sake.

Im equally disappointed that Portal 2 wasnt even a runner-up for best co-op. After playing through that in its entirety in 3 sessions, it was clearly the best co-op of the year. Maybe just none of them have really put the time into it to make that call, but I havent listened to the podcast yet. Will do that now.
They even did a TNT for Portal 2 coop, guess it didn't stick with them.

I can completely see why. I didn't even finish the coop in Portal 2. For me it#s mostly just that I didn't have fun playing it with whoever I was playing with. I am pretty good at spacial puzzles and my experience has been that I had to tell my partner what to do so he can keep up. Basically I had to play two parts at the same time. That is really not what I am looking for in a coop experience.
Gears is a great choice with the campaign, Horde and Beast mode.

Seems to me like Jeff and Ryan are the only ones really pushing for SR3, while the other three are just toeing the line.

Hmm, so it's actually pretty much unanimous then. Third times a charm! I loved the first Saints Row, but I've only played about 3 hours of Saints Row 2 because I didn't find it very engaging.
