Has anything been announced to replace Gintama in its timeslot? Or is the show going to run continuously now?

Lmao, that flashback. I'm enjoying this arc more than the last tbh, it has a better balance of comedy and seriousness.

But man, I tried and can't get over the bad animation for fights nowadays. Ever since the studio change it hasn't been the same. :(

Battle Spirits is taking over Gintama's timeslot in April.

Well that sucks. :(

They'll probably wait until the manga is done since it's pretty close to finishing and start it up again. That's still one less show to watch, I hope spring season this year has some good shows.

Watch Da Birdie

I buy cakes for myself on my birthday it's not weird lots of people do it I bet
It surprises me a show like Gintama shares the same time-slot with a collectible toy show.

Not sure I believe this Gintama ending business. It would be extremely Gintama to just do a Shippuden thing, unless Gintoki dies or something. Which seems likely.

We are clearly in the endgame. I was just hoping this anime season would be able to finish it. But it looks like it will need to go on another break again. Hopefully a short one.

Bad news, the manga is ending soon as the final arc will start this year and the series will either end this year or the next :(

Final Arc does not mean we won't get another 100 comedy chapters after!
Even then, Gintama is probably the most meta manga and anime ever. I am not sure Sorachi can be believed but even if it's true, I would be REALLY interested in what he does next.

This was good. The animation was a little jarring as some cuts were very well animated followed by some very QUALITY ones. I really like the flow of this arc where each side keeps outsmarting each other.

Lol the porn mag caught me off guard.

Great episode about Sasaki. The fights were brief but also good. Was surprised to see Kagura stop the fight at the end, what's up with that?

Next episode should be interesting.

A couple of Gintama cameos in the background of today's Osomatsu-san episode:

Bad drawings, awful animation and weird cuts with both audio and scenario changes really hampered this ep., but this has been a thing since the SA arc.

I also don't like the plot twist that
Naraku's leader is Shoyo who is still somehow immortal and also evil, seems way too forced

314 is a great episode the animations were good, some drawings were bad and
Shoyo as leader will be explained in next season, or read the freaking manga if you wanna know why he's the leader and why he's alive or why he's inmortal.

Overall a good episode - B+ to A-

Have you ever read the manga?, because it sounds like you don't. Same reaction happened by the fans on the manga but the explanation is logical and worth it.

Well, this is the anime thread. "Have you read the manga?" isn't really an argument here.

That said, I'm not sure where "bad drawings, awful animation and weird cuts" is coming from.

I liked this one too. The fights towards the end had some really good choreography and the teamwork moves were pretty cool. I hope the twist explanation makes sense. I guess the audience reaction is the same as Gintoki.

Great episode. Animation was weird for the beginning but they more than made up for it with the ending fight. Twist is interesting. Really wonder if they'll go into it before the show goes on break.

Did the shogun get assassinated in the real life ?

His historical counterpart died from heart failure while being only 20 years old, but I don't think it was officially considered assassination. The historical Kondo was actually accused of assassinating Sakamoto (who probably won't die at all in Gintama), although it was likely a false charge, like in Gintama.

RIP Isaburo. 😭 I've always liked his character, even when he was a villain.

Damn, only one more episode left. :( Hope they're quick in restarting this once the manga is done.

Oh right, I guess they've caught up with the manga pretty much. I kind of expected them to just end with a random comedy episode, but I guess there isn't room for that any more.

eh this season had plenty of great animation. They just had to do so many serious episodes back to back with lots of shit going on so it doesn't surprise me that some scenes looked off. They got all the big moments down so I'm fine with it.

Gintama always felt budget. But they also always keep joking about how it's the most unpopular Jump show, so it makes sense.

Loved this season, even with the animation being a lil worse than usual. Great ending episode, fairly emotional.

I really don't wanna read the manga, so I hope this comes back fairly quickly. If the manga is really ending this year, they can come back in fall or winter and go all out and finish it.

I'm about to begin watch Gintama. How long does it take for it to really hit its stride? I've heard from some people that the show takes a long while to really get going. I want to give it a real chance and not just give up after two episodes.

Secondly; The Gintama movies. Should I watch the movies after I catch up with the series? It's currently at episode 316 right? < Should I watch the movies /OVAs after all of these episodes, or do some of the movies take place continually between the older episodes?:O

Episode 25 iirc, the ones before are kind of a long flashback of how the various characters met. After that the real fun begins.

For the two movies, watch the first one (Benizakura Hen) instead of ep58-61, then the second one when you finish the 2013 series.

25 episodes for me. You may start to like it later.

First movie is just a recap of one of the arcs.

Watch the 2nd movie after ep 256 I think it is. The end of the season before the one that aired recently.

Skip the first two episodes of the anime. It's an anime original story meant to show off characters that wouldn't normally appear until much later, and while later anime original stories tend to be just as good as the manga stories, this one is quite bad.
