Great episode, was glad to see they adapted one of the smaller comedic chapters from before the Shogun Assassination arc as well.
Oh, that's what that story at the end was?

Has anything been announced to replace Gintama in its timeslot? Or is the show going to run continuously now?
Battle Spirits is taking over Gintama's timeslot in April.

Bad news, the manga is ending soon as the final arc will start this year and the series will either end this year or the next

I also don't like the plot twist that Naraku's leaderis Shoyo who is still somehow immortal and also evil, seems way too forced
314 is a great episode the animations were good, some drawings were bad andShoyo as leader will be explained in next season, or read the freaking manga if you wanna know why he's the leader and why he's alive or why he's inmortal.
Overall a good episode - B+ to A-
Have you ever read the manga?, because it sounds like you don't. Same reaction happened by the fans on the manga but the explanation is logical and worth it.
Bad drawings, awful animation and weird cuts with both audio and scenario changes really hampered this ep., but this has been a thing since the SA arc.

I'm about to begin watch Gintama. How long does it take for it to really hit its stride? I've heard from some people that the show takes a long while to really get going. I want to give it a real chance and not just give up after two episodes.
Secondly; The Gintama movies. Should I watch the movies after I catch up with the series? It's currently at episode 316 right? < Should I watch the movies /OVAs after all of these episodes, or do some of the movies take place continually between the older episodes?:O
