So gals, do you have any good erotica or romance to read? And no, not the sleeping beauty one, please no! I can't read another book where every fairytale character is a BDSM pony or slave.

I like Warprize by Elizabeth Vaughan.
There's this book with a fairy detective (I think she's a man eater lol) on Earth, if anyone knows the name, please share it.

I'm really tired of these grey eyed vampire, native american, Irish ''hero'' to these damsel in destress.

The constant talking to his own cock is hilarious though

XD
It is it's like it's a deuteragonist within the novel which is rather odd least to me.

I can think of a few:
  1. Delta of Venus by Anaïs Nin
  2. Little Birds by Anaïs Nin
  3. Story of the Eye by Georges Bataille
  4. Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller
  5. Tropic of Capricorn by Henry Miller
  6. Suburban Souls
  7. The Songs of Bilitis by Pierre Louÿs
  8. Manuel de civilité pour les petites filles à l'usage des maisons d'éducation by Pierre Louÿs
Story of the Eye is good but I do remember it getting rather weird towards the end and Manuel de civilité pour les petites filles à l'usage des maisons d'éducation is more tongue in cheek but it crosses a few boundaries that might make it a bit off putting as an erotic piece.

Let me put on my Celebro and consult the Matriarchy Monolith.

:x

Um, in all seriousness, the answer is I dunno. I wouldn't have done so.

Rough, though. Hope she will move on sooner than later.

Do any of you have experience with participating in or hosting a web series, podcast, or gaming stream as a woman? I have suddenly found myself with the opportunity to audition for a host of a well known video game youtube series, and I'm struggling with my decision. On one hand, I'm super passionate and knowledgeable about the subject matter, and it would be a really cool experience sharing that with the community. I can already think of a thousand ways I could bring additional value to the show.

On the other hand, I feel like I'm "old enough" to know better. I'm utterly terrified of the criticism I'd receive for no other reason than my gender, and I know it's going to take some pretty thick skin to deal with the rampant immature comments attacking everything from my physical appearance to how authentic my interest in games are.

Has anyone dealt with this?

(Also, can I just say that it kind of sucks that this has to even be a factor in my decision.)

I'm sorry, I don't have any experience in this. But it'd make me awfully sad if you decided to exclude yourself just because of your gender. This industry and hobby needs more women who can represent us. I think for every ignorant idiot who decides that their opinion has to be shared there'll be just as many who think that you rock and look up to you.

I've never dealt with this since I'm a dude, but I'd say go for it. Don't let these concerns destroy this opportunity! I don't want to play your concerns down though. I can totally understand why these concerns are there, but since you seem to be really passionate about this according to your post, it would be a shame if you miss this chance (and regret it afterwards).

Hey sassy robot!! I've guest starred on a podcast before and it was a great experience. The podcast was for a lesser known game and the community was amazing, so I'd say I had the best-case scenario though. The only weirdness was that I got a lot of comments on my "cute voice" and I got a lot of attention based on that that I didn't really want. Still though, it was great and I learned a lot from it.

I would say GO for it. YouTube is going to be a lot harsher than podcasting, especially since people can see you and we all know how that goes. Still, you're going to learn so much from it and become a more well-rounded person from it, and there WILL be people, no matter what, who appreciate what you do and for them, it will all be worth it.

Like Fiction kinda said, go in there confidently and ACT like you know your stuff. Don't let the potential for criticism psych you out or it'll be a self fulfilling prophecy. If you stick to your guns and act confident no matter what, people will warm up to you.

I think something us girls do a lot is use our (very creative) coping mechanisms when we're in this type of male-dominated social situation, like uptalk and acting like we don't know what's going on, etc. but dudes are probably gonna hate that. So don't sell yourself short!! I'm sure you are so knowledgeable and cool and smart and you're gonna rock it.

If I haven't done a good job of convincing you, listen to this guy.

I'd say go for it, but I totally understand your reservations :<

But yeah! I would totally be cheering for you from the sideline, sassyrobot!!! <3

Aw no. I wanted to do a gaming channel, but I never had enough money for equipment and I had other concerns.

Thank you for the heaps of support and advice, guys! I think I'll go ahead and at least audition for the role and see where it goes from there.

Really amazing advice, thank you! The only thing I'd nitpick is that this is for a League of Legends-based show, and that community is a bit known for concentrated toxicity. I imagine that may be a bit different scenario (just judging by any time a woman streams the game or talks about the game on-screen), but I really hope I'm wrong. That, or that I'm confident enough to have misplaced all of my fucks going into this. :)

You're welcome!! I'm not gonna sugarcoat it, League is definitely rough. :( However, I still have faith in you! Lock all those fucks up and swallow the key because at the end of the day, you'd be the one on a popular video series while they wasted their time hating on a woman for silly reasons.

I wish the girl would've pressed the issue more (the other guys too), instead of accepting his lame-ass "it was a joke!" excuse. Like they all ended up trying to placate him. I can understand why they did that, though. What a scumbag, seriously.

Put in my two week notice today at my retail job that I've been at for three years.

Feels weird. The amount of changes that are happening in my life right now are getting a little overwhelming.

Back from my 10 day trip to Canada. Landed down in Toronto, got a good deal on a five star hotel, room service almost every night was pretty rad, especially ordering poutine and a burger straight to my door! Acquired the services of one of the hotel masseuse's as well. He was well behaved! And drank copious amount of guinness in the jacuzzi! Went all over the place, hit the toronto countryside outside of the city, some of the mountain suburbs in hamilton, and Niagra Falls inbetween relaxing at the hotel. Came back with a huge amount of holiday swag too! Went crazy and bought a couple dozen records for dirty cheap thanks to the UK exchange rate! Here's some of the highlights of what I nabbed...

Black Sabbath's Masters of Reality, Rush's 2112, Pantera's Cowboys From Hell, and Daft Punks R.A.M were all sealed and brand new for £15 each! Got a license plate to hang on my bedroom wall too for a couple of dollars!

Oh, and a massive, american sized XXL men's hockey jersey to lounge around in my house with. Goes down to my knees and it's baggy as fuck!

I was gonna say, "I hope you did a detour to London, ON to see Bolt Thrower!", but then, if you're from the UK, that's actually not worth it for you... haha.

I actually did that last week-end. Was in Toronto for the week-end for a kendo trip with some friends, but Bolt Thrower was playing in London (two hours away... I have amazing friends really, they drove me) and I actually went. It was amazing.

Nice haul! Too bad about no Montreal visit. Maybe next time? :)

I really want to visit the UK some time...

I'm defending girl porn again in yet another 50 Shades thread. I really dislike that series but damn do dudes love to make fun of it.

NGL, I love to make fun of it too.

More because I read those in depth chapter reviews by Jenny Trout and was fucking mortified at the glorified abuse :( Like...it had me thinking "well, at least Twilight isn't this bad...and at least Edward had the 'I'm a vampire' excuse for acting like an inhuman monster..."

Anything that makes me think Twilight is okay...I can't get behind. :(

Edit: But I do get your point about "at least it's a mainstream female-oriented porn" angle, and like...that's great, but :((((((( at it being these particular books.

Im with Fiction on this. I scoff, SCOFF I SAY, at it................... but then again the alternatives is the toxic stereotype whereby there are no acceptable porn for women and that females are not naturally sexual creatures

No no, totally agree. I hate the series, because it's shit writing and bad bad BDSM practices and not safe sane and consensual and...yeah.

But yes, at least it's getting SOMETHING out there.
My missus is currently reading 'the crossfire series' and apparently there's a lot of sex in them. Not sure what the actual books are called because she keeps referring to them as the crossfire series. Not sure about plot or characters, I just know they're targeted at women, growing in popularity, and full of sex. Might be worth checking out?

Never heard of this either, but just looked the series up - it is by Sylvia Day:

It might be coming to TV too, apparently.

That's fair enough then!

Man, why did it have to be 50 though... Haha.

On an entirely different note...I hate it when I fuck up at work and now my good standing there is probably done with in my boss' eyes. Feels bad, man. :/

Can I just say, you have AWESOME taste in music.

I went to Toronto about 13 years ago, it was awesome, I also did Niagra Falls and saw a hockey game, Maple Leaves rule!

Can I just say, you have AWESOME taste in music.

Thanks! Also got a half dozen other albums on the cheap from an antiques shop near the city of peterbrough too, two dollars each, a couple of them were a bit bruised and battered but I couldn't just leave 'em there. Old fella in the shop had a thing for british girls though, kept hitting on me, but a nice guy nontheless!

As an aside, I know I said this in the other thread but you shouldn't be so critical of your appearance. I remember before you mentioned how insecure you were about your looks... WHYYYYY. You are attractive. Like YesNo said, you have great boobs :p

You can't just ask 'why' and say you disagree and think it'll change their mind. I personally think I'm an ugly piece of shit, but I've had people tell me otherwise. I assume they're being 'nice' or something and take it as a compliment. Does it change my own outlook of my appearance? Nope.

But for real, Fiction, you are pretty. Take it as you will, but it's my opinion.

I think Fiction and Infinity Patriot are both very attractive people. Backslashbunny, too, but she knows it ;)

Well thank you kindly. I have issues because of growing up with jacked up teeth (think Tom Cruise's early days) that have since been remedied by vineers. My jaw is also slightly crooked because one side grew slightly longer than the other (think John Tutorro). Oddly enough my ex didn't even realize the jaw bit until I mentioned something about it over a year into our relationship.

I have self confidence issues to point that I never realize someone is flirting unless they are blatant about it lol

You and me both. I don't go after women because I always assume they wont be interested. If they're flirting with me, I assume they're just being nice & it's a part of their personality. I absolutely hate that about myself. I can't reel in shit & I haven't had but 1 real relationship in my life because of it.

I used to work for a company that made a variety of websites, some of which were porn.

I'm sure most of you are savvy enough to be aware, but just in case... 99% of "amateur porn" sites out there are not actually amateur at all.
