Given that MH: Wilds is garbage, what MH title did you go back to playing?

What MH game did you leave Wilds for?

This is somewhat related to this thread where MH: Wilds lost 98% of its user base:

We don't really need to go into what made you hate it, whether it be the fact that it is incredibly easy, even easier than Rise, whether its the horrible story, poor optimization, etc. I'm more so curious what game did you go back to playing? And if you did leave Wilds, do you think you'll ever return?

I went back to MHGU and it's pretty interesting playing the titles from around then and on. You can see them getting progressively easier and forgiving. I mean even starting with MH4U, then you get MHGU with the arts that make the game a bit easier, then World which was a lot easier than MHGU, then Rise which is easier than World and more arcade like, then finally Wilds which turns every aspect of the game to easy mode, whether it be combat or hunting the monsters, and with the changes with the Seikret

So if you left Wilds, what are you playing now?

I went and played a bit of MHGU to appease the itch. It's my favorite MonHun game by far.

Game's really challenging (I ate shit to the very first Great Maccao coming from beating World lol), the music slaps, has content to last you a life time and dare I say, it still looks really really pretty at times.

Don't think they are! At the end of the day it's a 3DS game adapted for way better hardware, so I guess they managed to up the visuals quite a bit.

But now that you mention it, the last time I played it I emulated and the game sure's a bliss at 4K/60fps...
Damn, now I'm getting the hunting itch again :goog_relieved:

They always make a Nintendo exclusive(timed exclusive) Monster Hunter. We anticipate one being made for Switch 2.
This would be great. I have no idea what the ETA would be since stories comes out next year and wilds just came out recently.

I've never put more than a few hours in MHGU but replaying it, it reminds me a lot of MH4U so fortunately I think GU will be able to hold me over for a bit. Although I'm not super excited for what the future holds given that these installments seem to get progressively less interesting to me.

Monster Hunter peaked with 4 Ultimate.

I feel like World is the best overall experience, and likely will always be. Nice middle ground between accessibility and enough 'friction', tons of monster variety, the risk/reward with attacks feels right. Mounts are there, but not a focus, nice environmental interactions, etc.

Rise is ok too, but Wirebugs and mounting is too ridiculous and it trivializes the hunts.

World also has a nice modding community with some cool stuff if you play on PC, and some of the better collab and event quests. Mods can actually fix one of the biggest problems - boring weapon aesthetics for almost the entire weapon tree.

Speak for yourself.
Rise is bad, and iceborne I have no intention of ever going back to because there's nothing as amazing as the fatalis hunt, which was a fitting end to that game.

Always love the hyperbole. The game is quite good. It launched with some weaknesses like mostly easy content, which has been rectified to a point some people complain it's now too hard. It's certainly much better than base World or base Rise was. Wait for the expansion if you want to compare it to Iceborne.

Based on the poll and the link in OP, the majority of people stopped playing and are playing something else. Hell just read the responses in this thread

That means your game fundamentally failed

no amount of cope can change it. Wilds was a disaster. There have been many articles written on this in great detail if you really want a detailed breakdown, from the developers being idiots claiming that the "success" is due to the "strong story" to how much it's fallen off in popularity. Again it's fine for you to enjoy it, but let's not pretend like it's not hated by most people who are long time monster Hunter fans.

Also base world is 10000x better than wilds because it's actually a good game unlike wilds

I still can't believe it's 30 fps on Switch. Lazy devs can't do what some modders can (a jailbroken Switch can run it at 60 fps). I was thinking about trying it, but I don't want to play at 30 fps.

The majority of people stop playing any game that isn't live service.

I have no idea why you are always hostile when someone disagrees with you, it's a very common occurence for you to make hyperbolic takes and then attack whoever disagrees. I'm sorry I like it and you don't, I suppose.

Your game referred to the people who made the game, I'm sorry that you somehow got confused about that, as I thought it was pretty obvious.

I'm also sorry if my post somehow hurt your feelings despite me making no personal attacks. You accused me of hyperbole and I immediately saw a disconnect between perception and reality, so I was trying to ground you with empirical data which simply shows that this is not hyperbole.

I think you may be just too invested in how people perceive your beloved franchise. I go out of my way to say it's fine for you to like whatever you like. It's okay if people hate a game you love, it doesn't make it hyperbole
I don't agree with that all, for me I'm liking Wilds more than base World.
We are allowed to have different opinions, my friend. I keep saying that this is only true for how most players feel. Obviously, there's people still playing the game who enjoyed it and I don't doubt that you're one of them.

Base World was great back then, but to a large extend because of the novelty, like finally, a high budget monster hunter game. But if you pick it apart now VS something like wilds it's quite a bit weaker. There is no monster variety to speak of, everything is a wyvern. Weapon designs were terrible, very few unique ones. The endgame was very weak when compared to what we have now, at least there was something to do when Kulve was released. I think people tend to remember it with Rose tinted glasses, it was Iceborne that really fixed most of the issues.

See, this is exactly what I mean. Referring to a game that has sold over 10 million copies as "garbage" is as hyperbolic as it gets. You present your personal opinion as facts and then go from there. I can agree with a term like disappointing and there are many reasons for that which we could discuss. But you don't seem to be here for a genuine discussion about the game, just hot takes as usual. I think I'll "cope" somewhere else.

Not to mention people complain about MHWilds performance on consoles but World had big performance issue on PS4 and it wasn't fixed on PS4 pro and only you got good performance when playing it on PS5.

I would say MHWilds on base PS5 runs better than MHWorld on base PS4 and PS4pro.

Oh yes, World was in the ~30 fps range on base PS4 and sometimes it would drop in the 20s. The pro would run it in the 40s which wasn't that good. Meanwhile it's mostly within the VRR range on PS5 and almost locked 60 on pro.

How can you accuse me saying I'm not here for genuine discussion when I created a poll related to my thread and I'm engaging with people on the very topic? The purpose of this entire thread was to discuss what people are playing instead of Wilds given the majority of people stopped playing Wilds. The poll results support this, showing the majority quit wilds and are playing other MH games. The discussion in this thread has surrounded that until you came in and began fixating on the fact people insulted a game you like. You're the one not having a genuine discussion based on the topic

Just say that I'm not saying what you want to hear. That's exactly what happened.

"Wilds is garbage, everyone stopped playing because it sucks, tell my what you are playing instead"

If you can't see that this is not a genuine place from which to start a discussion about a game, I don't think there's any point in saying anything else.
