Giving up on Chipotle.... how is Moe's Southwest Grill?

I just found that we have one within a few miles of where I live and I was thinking about trying them out soon. Any opinions on how their food compares?

I loved Chipotle for quite a while but every time I go there these days, the portions and quality of the food is very inconsistent between the 2 locations I visit. I think it's time to look elsewhere and I see Moe's is apparently a big competitor of theirs.

I'm actually enjoying chipotle a lot more recently since my local spots have been giving way more meat to try to get people to keep coming back

It tastes like what would happen if an American went to a grocery store and tried to make burritos. Weak flavors. Chipotle and Qdoba have much nicer taste and quality, bigger portions, etc.

Qdoba is the best really, as they also have better queso than Moe's.

There are 2 Moe's near me. Every time I've eaten at one I get a cold burrito that's 90% toppings and 10% meat.

It's garbage. Utter garbage. Avoid at all costs.

I miss having a Moe's close by. I like Moe's burritos better than Chipotle's

I also miss the employees screaming "Welcome to Moe's" The one I used to go to would kind of slur it, so it sounded funny, but it was memorable.

This feels like a limbo world post

Moe's is the best of the 3 popular burrito chains, convert to the superior burrito place.

It's alright. Feels a little less in quality than Chipotle, but they give you free chips when you order.

Seriously. They do indeed overdo rice and lettuce and skimp on meat.

Yeah, that's one of the issues. Feels like they give you like 5-6 cubes of whatever meat you order.

I just wish they would stop that stupid "WELCOME TO MOEEEEEEE'S" screaming they do. So annoying.

Chipotle, Moe's and Qdoba are pretty much all the same place.

I can't speak for Qdoba, but Chipotle and Moe's are not the same.

Not even. I have all 3 within 10 mins of each other and Chipotle and Qdoba shit on Moe's from a great height. I'm utterly astonished at these replies.

I mean I get that they're cheap, but their food has no flavor. At least Chipotle seasons their damn rice.

EDIT: Just asked 4 co-workers which chain was the best. When I said Moe's there was an audible "EWWWW" from 3 of the 4. I don't know if it's just my area or what, but they're fucking awful here.

The Moe's I go to they go "WELCOME To M....", they start out the greeting strong but kind of trail it off towards the end. Don't think I have ever heard them say the full thing.
Chipotle, Moe's and Qdoba are pretty much all the same place.

I mean I can't speak for Qdoba but Chipotle and Moe's are pretty different taste wise. It's like saying McDonalds, Burger King, and Wendy's are all pretty much the same.

I think they're pretty light on meat, which is lame since that's the best part. However, free chips and really yummy queso, so I forgive.

Moe's is alright but their Monday deal is so good I never go any other day of the week. I like Qdoba a bit but the last few ones I've been to have been really meh.

You should hit up one of the local Taquerias, cheaper and tastier than Chipotle. La Fiesta Taqueria is a good one that's pretty close by.

Rubio's is the only chain I really like and that mostly for the seafood.

If you go again, ask them to put your burrito on the grill for a minute or two. This especially isn't a big request if it's not a busy time of day for them.

This is true, but people in this thread will fight this cause of personal preference.

On a macro level these 3 chains are basically the same.

On a micro level people might have certain preferences and there is obviously a variance in quality store to store so one area might have a better Chipotle and another area Moe's.

I don't expect the major to be on your side though.

Moe's is solid. And they have some awesome queso. I'm still not sure why Chipotle doesn't.

When I asked the person working at Chipotle about not having queso they told me it was because it had preservatives. I'm assuming it has something to do with their whole fresh food vibe.

I like Moe's quite a bit. I've been to Chipotle a few times but I find the Moe's in my town to be a better quality experience.

What's their monday deal? I don't think I've ever been on Mondays

5 bucks and change for a burrito with whatever you want in it + chips and a drink.

I agree with other posters it makes it hard to go to Moe's on other nights cause the deal is soo much better.

They kind of are though. Mcdonald's having slightly worse burgers and wendy's spicy chicken being the best sandwich overall out of the 3 places doesn't make them any less ultra-similar.

Yeah but if I have to tell a restaurant to serve my food at something beyond room temperature, I'm simply not going back. I can walk 4 mins in the other direction and be eating Qdoba if that's the case.

It is decent enough. I prefer Chipotle but Moe's includes free chips, or at least I get free chips...

Qdoba is spicier than both, but spicier does not necessarily mean better. The advantage is that spicy food makes me not crave more afterwards so I don't overeat.

Its pretty good. Prefer it over chipotle since they give you free chips and salsa (and dont put some weird cilantro seasoning on their chips.) Who is Kaiser Salsa is best salsa.

Last Moe's I went to, you couldn't get a bowl, had to be in burrito form which is harder to eat, and also they didn't have the choice of white rice. I've always hated the taste of wild rice.

But their queso is great.

So...that's the difference between Moe's and Chipotle for me.

Moe's and Willy's are nowhere near as good as Chipotle. Recently I've gone there less though, because there's this awesome Korean taco place right near where I live. I get a much more satisfying "burrito bowl" experience from them.
