God of war Ragnarök delayed to 2022

Knew that "Ragnarok coming in 2021" was total BS during Sony's summer show last year.

All a hype job to sell systems and make 2021 look like it has more big name games than reality.

Sorry could not resist.

If horizon gets delayed to 2022 that means the only decent exclusive game on ps5 for over a yr will have been ratchet

Horizon is literally the reason for the GoW delay. It's strong showing proved it could anchor their holiday lineup.

yeah I mean we saw a title card 7 months ago, god of war had to be finished by now…

That's probably the bigger news in this
-God of War Ragnarök and GT7 are both PS4/PS5 titles.

Pretty expected tbh, at least in GT7s case.

I don't understand why they simply couldn't be upfront about this from the start. This will give them unnecessary bad press. This will lead to a new wave of those godawful "we believe in generations"-memes.
Chip shortage happened

Nobody in their right mind believed that God of War will release in 2021. Sony knew it, we knew it.

And still, they are making delay announcement as some kind of unexpected surprise. It's quite funny actually

Chip shortage doesn't impact the development of these games. They have been in development since years back, if something is crossgen now it's been crossgen since start of development and they could've avoided this unnecessary bad press by simply saying

"Hey, well we have 100+ million PS4s out there and these games have been in development a couple of years targeting PS4 and PS5"

Done, bad PR avoided, clearing out confusion while still providing reasons for the games being cross gen. They haven't commited to all games from 1st party being crossgen like Xbox, but somehow they have managed to make their crossgen games a bigger deal than XGSs output. Completely unnecessary and completely avoidable.

anyone who is not a blind fanboy knows this isnt delayed... as it was never coming 2021, its a marketing technique Sony always uses at new console reveals

what is surprising and extremely disappointing is that it will be cross gen

Not surprising. Cool that they announced this before E3 so people know not to go in expecting a potential release this year.

Agreed, What I am saying is maybe they thought they could get good PR by saying "it's ps5 only", but after chip shortage, they decided to change that.
But it was clear from the start that the game was being developed for both ps4 and ps5.

GOW being delayed isn't too surprising, we haven't even seen a trailer yet. Damn, seeing GOW cross gen sucks though, same with GT7, not the end of the world. I mean they will still be awesome games just like Horizon will be, but they really could of went all out with just PS5 development.

And you know, Bend Studio is working on a very exciting new IP that they're very, very passionate about. They're building on the deep open-world systems that they developed with Days Gone. So I'm really happy for Bend Studio.

This deserves its own thread. Brand new open world IP from Bend Studio. The bad writers left so I think their new game will be far more successful. 😂

They have Horizon. no way they would release 2 big games in the fall. it kinda makes sense.

Also. no one was expecting a 2021 release really. they showed nothing but a logo when Horizon got gameplay video a long time ago. God of war ok they didn't show anything but a logo and even the title of the game they are not sure about.

What on Earth makes you think that was the sum total of work done on it so far? The first game released years ago, and they surely had already begun work on the sequel at that point in some fashion. What a bizarre troll attempt.

That said, it was obvious this game wasn't hitting this year after seeing Horizon FW. They aren't going to pack two massive blockbusters into one quarter.
