Google Buys Keyhole. Pretty fun program.

Google seems to have a knack for buying relatively obscure companies with neat programs.

The program is like Mapquest but better... it uses satellite images and can do so many things. Google cut the price from $70 to $30, nice but not a freebie like Picasa though. The program is kind of slow though.. it streams images as you zoom down to a certain area. It would be awesome if Google can develop some kind of free web based thing on this.

I saw my ex's house for the first time in a long time. His car isn't there. Wah.

So far this has been pretty cool. I can't zoom too close (maybe my video card sucks??) to any buildings [it gets really blurry if I zoom past the city].

Wasn't this a feature that they were going to use in Longhorn?

yeah I think it's like that. On the website you can see how good the resolution is in your area, but the best is around 1 foot, which isnt that great (for spying on people).

How could you spy on someone?

Aren't most of these older pics? I haven't really looked into the program much yet, but I assumed this was the case.

I can't see anything where I live :(

Keyhole isn't live is it? i thought it was just a collection of aerial and satellite shots. If it updated shots on a fairly recent basis (like bi-daily), i'd definitely plop the $30 down for it.

Oh no it's not live. I was just joking about that.
