Hell yeah, looks fun.

had a quick practice with the mazda.

I think the race should be fun.

On racing hards the car doesnt lose grip unless you mess up but since the car is a bit drifty you can control any drifting pretty easily. Should make for some good photos atleast.

Questions:
1. is my race number 5?
2. TC and ABS - can they be set to 0?

Thanks!
1. Yes
2. Yes. TC is forced to zero in the lounge. ABS can be set to whatever you want as I can't force anything in the lounge for ABS.

Yeah, it's awesome. The open roof looks really nice in cockpit view. It's on default Racing Hards, which makes it stick to the track too much though, so we will probably use Sports tyres instead when we use it.

1. Cool
2. I have been practicing with ABS 0 lately. I normally put it on 1.

edit: I haven't mentioned this yet but I love the driving when ABS is 0 with adjusted brake balance. The car is alive with TC off. But it becomes complete when ABS is turned off.

Anybody else unable to get 25 laps on one set of tires? I can get 20 and the tires are shot.
I haven't really tried, but even though it says "No mandatory pit stops" I prefer races with pit stops. But if someone can do 25 laps on one set of tyres it's ok :)

Standing start
Always make sure at least one pair of wheels are inside the white lines! Using the run-off areas as "long-cuts" or short-cuts is not allowed and will be strictly enforced. Missing a brake point and thus overshooting into run-off areas is ok, but when you rejoin the track you must wait until cars close behind you has passed. Missing a brake point is a mistake and should lead to you having less speed out the corner, not more.

Lounge:
Race will be in the GT5NRL lounge, please add this account to your Friends list. Practice sessions will also be held in the same lounge.

To the new guys: remember to send a friend request to GT5NRL to be able to participate.

I use a DFGT, but sadly I have to say that I won't race this one :( It's a shame because it looks like it will be great.

I want to see pictures, videos, gifs, etc :D

I was practicing with Niks the other day and he was only getting 10 laps. So us DS3 users will probably have to push it to 12-13 to only pit once.

I was practicing offline but if you don't mind me asking, what kind of lap times are you guys putting in?

Edit: ds3 user until proficient with g27

Niks best time was a mid 1:29, mine was a mid 1:33. This is a really hard track to run perfect laps on though and even more so then most tracks i think being consistent and saving your tires will be more important then fast lap times. One lapse of concentration or misjudgment of speed before the chicane and you'll go right into the wall, ruining your race. It's also really easy to go wide on these corners and go into the sand, the RX-7 really understeers in corners.

I used my DFGT back in the SuperGT Season 2 practice days, but I've been racing with the DS3 lately out of convenience.

Just had a pretty fun battle on Spa as well ;), this guy had been bumping me off track a few times, so after I caught up to him, I tried to pass him cleanly but we clashed a bit.

Hmmm, I think DTM cars might be a better idea than LMP cars when we return to Spa.

How come no one likes LMP but me :( Most fun I've had around Spa by myself was in a Peugeot 908 HDI FAP.

I love the LMP cars and thought that our GP/F race in LMP cars was awesome. But they're not exactly easy to control and I think lots of people struggle controlling them. Especially on track with other cars around.

DTM at spa will be glorious :p

ps: I want a DLC pack car with at least 6 or 8 DTM cars premium

Even more reason to use them! If you force people to drive them they'll become better drivers. Sure, it might be painful at first, but it's for their own good.

Lol - "This race will be in a car that you can't properly drive, but you will practice and practice, then you'll fail over and over. In the end you will tear your hair out, but it's for your own good." Sounds like the description for one of the license tests :p DS3 users are at a real disadvantage though.

But we'll definitely do another LMP race, I promise.

EDIT - heading to the lounge now for practice. Dead tired, so I can't promise how long I'll be able to stay awake.

Not sure that's the best idea as the cars have a pretty wide range and we'll end up with a two-make race.

Lounge is now up for practice!
Coming in 30 minutes!

Also, I've sent friend request to most of you guys (dibbz, nabs, toxa, paskowitz, ashk.. But also weekend warrior, funkystudent and others who haven't added me yet :/) but if I somehow missed any of you by all means add me!

Yeah, I was joking there with the "it's for your own good" :p But it's somewhat true, I didn't especially like the LMPs until we did the GAF race and I had to learn to drive them against people insted of braindead AIs.

Lol trading paints with Angst... i think I behaved nicely tho, maybe too much? ;) I hope we go for light damage.
I find it difficulty finding who's got precedence on the first hairpin so I always end up braking and let pass for fear of ruining the race to the better-than-me drivers :(

Dunno it's probably my fault but the user asclepio_br had a lot of lag schizodriving for me. Again, probably my connection.

Anyway, I managed a 1'33" lap (my best was "34, ahah) but only when I was last with all the track for me, otherwise with other cars I'm above 1'40", always, and end up spinning a lot :-/
If I can finish not last on sunday I'll be happy... Or even coming last but without huge mistakes like diving on a wall or spinning.

It's always tricky figuring out who has precedence into a hairpin, sometimes it's a game of chicken. Best advice I can give is to set map zoom at 2 so you can see where the other cars are and if you're on the outside you go wide and don't dive into the apex. Guy on the inside has to go slower, so sometimes you can pull out ahead of him.

My internet sucks really hard (pretty common in Brazil)... So that's probably me. Sorry bro.

It seems I was the only one affected tho, iirc Angst and the others (?) said you were fine.
No problem. :)

Ok, this has turned into an obssession. I have become convinced that I can pull it off for the race. No pittting with a decent time per lap (or hope to be a decent time anyway).

I think I can make consistent 1:32's up until lap 20. Then it becomes a crapshoot. The tires will be sliding all over the place and I'm gonna guess that I will lose much more than a few seconds on the 25th lap.

The funny part is that I can make the rears last longer than the front. Testing this whole time has been quite an experience. It has taught me quite a bit about the tire model in GT5 and what affects degradation. This game....so many years it has been and it's still showing me a few things here and there. Wow. I love this game.

My progress so far... but yeah, it might not be in the best interest to run hotlaps, the tires are scorching.[/QUOTE]

Interesting. I'm guessing the majority are doing these kind of lap times. How many laps are you able to sustain that kind of pace? 12 ish?

Just did a full 25 laps on one set of tires with the DS3. Went into the sand once near the middle of the race which resulted in a 1:40 lap, and slid a bit for another 1:35 lap.

Total time was about 38:49.
Fastest lap: 1:30.4

Just like you Kaze, I did my first 1:33 on lap 20. I went back into the 1:32's on the following lap, but I was afraid that my tires wouldn't last until the end and remained at 1:33 after that. Around lap 23 I was in the 1:34.

My last lap was a 1:34.7 and the tires were almost done.

I felt like a Jenson Button wannabe during this whole practice race lol. Pacing myself and making sure I didn't brake/throttle @100% (especially on the first corner). That was crucial in conserving the tires.

Didn't try running <1:30 sprints yet, but I think I would last around 10 laps lol.

You down for a "no pit" race? It think it's more interesting that way lol
