list order of best GT game to worst in terms of driving

just curious what u guys think
GT3 in my opinion was the weakest of the whole series.

But apart from that I don't really have an opinion on the games as a whole.

GT5 > GT4 > GT3 > GT2 > GT1

In terms of driving, that's honestly the only answer*.

In terms of game, when I bought GT5 I thought GT4 was a better game, but with the possibilities of patches and seasonals and whatnot, I now think GT5 is the best game. I mean, those Expert Seasonals made all my money worth it when I won with my own tunings!

*
I was 10 or 11 when I played Gran Turismo 1, so my judgement isn't that valuable :p

GT5 > GT4 > GT3 > GT2 > GT1

GT5's got loads of shit wrong with it and there's many missed opportunities; It's even losing some of its lustre in the sim market, but I can't deny it's better than GT4. And that was better than GT3 etc.. The driving has always improved and that's the most important thing.

Just to go against the grain, I will rate them in terms of total game design and execution, and my satisfaction level with them.
GT2 > GT4 > GT5 > GT1 > GT3

Generally the second iteration on a console is better, to me anyway.

not design and execution, the driving, how good the driving experience is, purely that

Yes, and that is nonsense. Also because it invalidates up to 4 following laps .-.

I managed to do a 1:19.779 (after a dozen of laps)

Really? oO You sure you didn't just cut on those 3 previous laps?

Makes sense to invalidate the next lap cause you could gain a speed advantage over the starting line by cutting, although they should only invalidate on the areas near the finish.

The real best time now is a 1´15´2xx that guys like Daniel Holland already ran. I don´t know who is competing with DC, but i do know that real life times have to be a bit worst, because of the usual factors (no restarts, no fear of crash, car is always perfect).

1, 1´5 seconds seem ok.

I´m sure people will get to 1´14 by the end of the online competition (september 27th).

how does one get a 1:15 on this track with comfort softs - that's insane, is this with no driver aids?

i can't try the seasonal so i had to run in offline time trial mode and could only manage a 1:17.268 during a 15 lap run/all driver aids off/sim steering. an on the fly brake balance change helps a lot with turn in for the last two corners but the car is on the ragged edge and i can't see where two seconds can come from.

could somebody please download the fastest lap replay (pal version) and host it?

You are allowed to use Traction Control but you can't edit the car setup.

No I've had this problem. Sometimes if I go off and hit an invisible wall it would pop up saying next lap invalid then if I'm still spinning from the same collision and hit the wall again it will pop up again saying next lap invalid. So basically 2 laps for one crash and this was at the first or 2nd turn on TTT.

Other times I've had it where it doesn't pop up saying next lap invalid at all but the timer stay red for 3 or 4 laps even if I'm not cutting or doing anything wrong. Usually just restart when that happens.

Had the same problem myself, ran wide got one lap wiped off then clipped an invisible wall and got three more for my troubles, seems a little harsh when i can just restart.

Meanwhile in Austria... Yamauchi is driving the SLS AMG GT3 at the Red Bull Ring.

Could it be his new car for endurance racing ?

Though I didn't really play GT4 all that much, I agree. If I had to choose only one I think I'd choose GT5 because the driving is otherworldly and there lots of awe-inspiring moments. But GT2 and GT4 are such massive, deep, polished and detailed games... I'm really looking forward to GT6, regardless of the platform we'll play it on.

If we're only talking about the driving though... GT5 >>>>>>>>>>>>> GT4 > GT3 > GT2? > GT1? I was a kid when I played those two so I don't remember that good :p

Come on PD, just release all the GT4 tracks as DLC. Hell, I'd even pay for them. Missing my Midfield and Tahiti :(
Me too. Even if this means simple texture upgrades for these tracks due to time reason (hell, the game is out for almost a year)...
But I think that at the most there will be a new patch with those "New features" promised by Kaz and, maybe, some weeks later DLC.

Rome Night was such an awesome track. That license test in GT2 with the Alfa is probably my favourite ever.

It still doesn't make any sense why all the old GT4 tracks aren't included. Laguna Seca looks like absolute total shit in GT5, so it couldn't have been a QA issue. The tracks are already too inconsistent, they should have just bit the bullet and included all of them.

Maybe I have faulty eyes, but it looks great on my end. One of the only old tracks that look bad (or at least very inconsistent) in my opinion Trial Mountain. The lake where the the Loch Ness monster is looks ugly, static and fake. And it reflects the wrong colour. Also the rock textures in the side of the mountains are pretty awful.

Also gnarly 2D monkey in the tree.

All the PS2 tracks look bad to me...although maybe that comes from going from the glory of the Ring to the PS2 upscales that's the jarring thing.

Not that it matters that much. It's just that if the PS2 tracks they included looked bad - or that is, not as good the as the "premium tracks" - why not just lump in all the rest of the GT4 tracks? Costa di Amalfi would look pretty good I'd bet.

I tried to be selective and choose only the very best tracks from the list but still I ended up with all those. My nuts would (will?) FUCKING EXPLODE the day they announce even half of those tracks for a new GT.

Wait...

... brofist man, bro-fucking-fist. Best license test ever, I still remember the moment I golded that bitch.

At least Seattle (dem climbs and dat speed), SSR11 (dem chicanes) and others got the PS2 treatment. But Red Rock, Grindelwald and both Rome** and Rome Night were never seen again. WHY :(

** Why the fuck don't we have the GT3 version of Rome which is like 398473984 times better than the GT5 one??!?????

Sigh, this reminds me that the thing I care about most in GT are the tracks, specially the imaginary ones. They are so damn good :(

Has anyone noticed this oddity with the Photomode? The bloom seems to disappear when taking photos.

I was driving around the Nordschleife at sunset and taking pictures when I noticed that the resulting pics seemed less colourful and less natural looking than what I saw during the replays.

- Paused replay picture

cKgef.jpg

- Entering Photomode, sunrays/bloom are gone. Decreasing the exposure brings out the sunset colors in the sky (not shown), but it doesn't look at nice as the replay.

- Exiting Photomode, the effects are still gone. They reappear however once the replay is unpaused.

That's what I was thinking too, but notice how the bloom of the rear lights are gone and how their reflections on the body are also absent.

I'll try with L1 to see if it gives better results.

Reminds me how people get hyped when Sony does Playstation Store maintenance. Nothing ever comes from it.

Kaz said september - october new things (not sure about dlc) would roll out.
So TGS could be something, even if minimal.

want to give the merc-top gear challenge another go but My save wont load.

I get past the PD logo and the terms and conditions but then I just get a black screen.

Can still quit to the XMB ok but it just wont load to the main menu. not getting a loading bar or anything.

help me gaf. If I have to delete my save data or reinstall the 10gigs + download all those patches I dont think I will even bother.

Have you tried playing offline just to see if it's the network, or the save itself?

Take a look at the Save Data section in the XMB too, often shows up as "Corrupt Data" if the save's nuked.

nope the save is still there and looks ok.

Wikk try going offline.... kind of makes accessing the seasonal events a bit hard though :/
