Grand Theft Auto: Online |OT2| Life's A Beach

I just don't play in lobbies I'm either on my own getting money or with mates.

Though the other day I did venture in to a lobby safe in the confines of my apartment sat watching other players and yes most of them are just hell bent in greifing each other.

Next week I'll purchase my first shark card as yet not sure which one I wanna buy. First I will play with the new cars in SP and check out prices of apartments/garages.

Have a around 400k but will try and get that around 500k by the the 13th.

I made it to $5 million on Sunday. Been questing for street cars ever since. I've become a fan of average-looking cars so Supers don't entice me as much. Found a convertible Sentinel; that was nice.

Despite having a bunch more money, I feel like it's gonna become necessary to hoard. Nevermind 2nd apartments, the rumored mansions will probably cost like $10 million+.

Still can't find the Speedo. :(

Yeah I'm not sure what's up with the hacking mini games but I noticed in some missions they go at a decent pace (docks to stocks) while in others they go so slow (hack and grab) that it can hurt you. In the case of hack and grab (I think that's the name at least, the one where you steal the FIB cars from that garage for Lester) the mini games move so slow that the cops are shooting me by the time I finish them. Not sure why all of them aren't the same speed regardless of mission, I could see if it was difficulty dependent but I always play missions on hard so I have no idea.
I generally enjoy most hacking missions. The problem I have with a couple of them is the infinitely spawning enemies. The last one I tried (Docks to Stock?) had that problem. :p

Missions like Hack and Dash and Los Santos Connection are really fun though.

I'm up to 3 million myself but I'm sure the next back of DLC will wipe it out pretty easily between the new apt and 10 new cars (most of them will be off the street but theres always the cost of upgrades). Hell I'll be buying two new supers (only have two so far, Infurnus and Bullet, going to pick up a Turismo again and the new one cause it looks cool) and that right there should use up at least a million. I definitely didn't take advantage of the 2xRP/$ last weekend lol, got a couple hundred thousand out of it but whatever.

One thing I REALLY wish this game had was drug dealing missions.

Like you could go get drugs from that guy and go to specific areas and sell it. The more you sell the more dangerous/reward missions you get, like taking 1 mil to a drop off to get a van full of drugs that you have to take back to a location ( sometimes the deal could go wrong, all happens in an online lobby so if someone sees you in this specific van they can kill you and take your money or van of drugs)

Something to build on basically, like a job...

That's the exact game mechanic in GTA Chinatown Wars, so there's precedent for Rockstar to implement it. I'd love this feature too

There was a similar drug dealing business in Vice City Stories, too iirc. That game had a good deal of "business" missions that were totally optional, from drug dealing, pimping, and more. Direct from the wiki -
In order to make money, the player must open and operate various businesses on property taken over from enemy gangs – these can range from protection rackets to brothels or smuggling compounds; the type and scale of a business is entirely dependant on the player's wants.
Something like that, or the trashmaster missions, or many more. They have tons to pull from. Now if only the a-hole cheaters/glitchers would cool their jets and let R* focus on the future instead of fixing the past!

I was just killed in my own garage. wat :l

Yeah there's a glitch that lets you appear in anyone's garage with the ability to shoot. I've had it happen to me too. It's why I always go into passive mode now before entering my garage or if I can't cause I have a bounty on me I'll check the CCTV first to see if anyone's in there.

I haven't seen much of the original GAF crew. I've been on playing again for about a week. I finally broke lvl 100. If anyone is on invite me.

I haven't been on much in the last week, waiting for the update and kinda sorta hoping it fixes some of the freezing problems along with doing something about the cheaters. Granted I'm not OG crew since I didn't join until GTA V came out. *Cough*

The new cars are pretty cool, Zentorno in particular is pretty beastly. Not a fan of the bike but it's modeled after a bike I don't care for anyway so no big deal.

The High Life Update for GTA Online Is Now Available

actual_1399976530.jpg

The High Life Update is here – you can now download the latest update to Grand Theft Auto Online featuring tons of brand new content along with some exciting features added to the game experience.

The High Life Update gives you the chance to live large in Los Santos with the ability to own two properties at any one time, and the addition of five opulent new apartments. Add to your real estate portfolio with hot new listings at Eclipse Towers in Vinewood, Richards Majestic in Rockford Hills, Tinsel Towers in Little Seoul, 4 Integrity Way in Downtown, and Del Perro Heights by the beach. As always, just drive up to the new property location sale and follow the prompts, or head to Dynasty8realestate.com to look for your next purchase.

Now that you can store vehicles across two apartment garages, you’ll be looking to put something new and shiny in them and The High Life Update offers a trio of luxury cars and a blistering new motorbike to add to your collection. The Enus Huntley S (SUV), Dewbauchee Massacro (Sports), Pegassi Zentorno (Super) and Dinka Thrust (Motorcycle) are all now available to purchase from Legendary Motorsport. Remember, these vehicles can also be accessed from any garage in Story Mode, adding a new spin to your mission replays.

And because success breeds jealousy, the powerful Bullpup Rifle is now available in Ammu-Nation to help you protect your assets.

Gear up with the all-new vehicles and weaponry to take on brand new Rockstar-created Jobs in GTA Online, including 8 new Contact missions listed below. These new Jobs will be available to play later today (we will update this post with links to the Jobs at the Social Club site once they're up) and stay tuned as there are even more being published soon including Capture, Survival, TDM and Last Team Standing mode Jobs.

Contact: GTA Today | Artificial Scarcity | Crime Scenester | Hit ‘Em Up | Master Data | Handle with Care | On the List | Denial of Service
Land Race: Stock Market Crash | Loss Leader | Home In The Hills | Thrusting Motion

High Life also introduces many new game features and enhancements including some updates directly based on feedback from you, the GTA Online community (remember to keep your feedback coming to GTAOnline@rockstargames.com where we’re always reviewing your input for consideration).

* With the new Mental State stat, we are keeping track of your behavior. If you seem to enjoy attacking pedestrians and terrorizing other players, then your blip will start to turn red on other players’ maps. The redder the blip, the more psychotic the player; the whiter the blip, the friendlier they are.
The actions you take will have varying effects on your Mental State. For example, killing another player will turn your blip red faster than blowing up a car or taking out a random pedestrian. Killing a player with a white blip will push your Mental State into the red faster than killing more psycho players, while taking out full-on psycho players won’t cause your own Mental State stat to increase at all.
Mental state also factors into matchmaking - you’ll automatically join Freemode sessions containing people more ‘compatible’ with your play style, and if a red-blipped lunatic does enter your session, you at least have fair warning!

* Non-Contact Races are now an option. When you create a Non-Contact race, other racers appear as semi-transparent and collisions with them are disabled (although you'll still be able to collide with non-player traffic, structures and other scenery).

* You now have the option to Friend Spectate – if you and a friend are in separate GTA Online sessions you can now choose to spectate that player through the Friends menu.

* New player toasts and celebrations: Switch out your salute for jazz hands, a face palm, a slow clap and more. There are also paired toasts for celebrating with a friend, like a backslap, or a solid, manly handshake.

* New clothing: It can be hard work finding the perfect ensemble to really make your character stand out, so we’ve done some of the hard work for you and put together some stylish outfits. Hit the town, dressed to the nines with an array of classy new suit sets available with a pret-a-porter jacket, trousers, suit vest and shoes.

* 10 additional vehicles from Story Mode are now available for the first time in GTA Online – these will be marked on the car sales websites as new in the High Life Update so you can find them easily at southernsanandreassuperautos.com and legendarymotorsport.net:
o Bravado Banshee Topless
o Inverto Coquette Topless
o Vapid Dominator Ocelot F620
o Schyster Fusilade
o Maibatsu Penumbra
o Ubermacht Sentinel XS
o Ubermacht Sentinel (Convertible)
o Grotti Stinger Topless
o Coil Voltic Topless

Today’s update 1.13 also includes some improvements and fixes including:

* Based on feedback from the stunting community, the changes to bike physics in a recent Title Update have been reverted.
* Fixed an exploit where players were able to shoot in their garages.
* Fixed an issue where players would occasionally not be able to reclaim a vehicle despite it being insured.
* Fixed an issue where the water cannon on the Fire Truck did not work correctly.

For the full list of fixes, you can view Title Update notes at the Rockstar Support site.

To download today's free update, fire up your connected PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, start GTAV and download the automatic update (1.13) when prompted (Xbox 360 players will also be required to download an additional compatibility pack upon entering GTA Online).

Also stay tuned here at the Newswire for details on the High Life Weekend Social Club Event starting this Friday, with in-game bonuses, a special Rockstar-hosted live stream, rare gear sweepstakes and more.

I bought this game at launch but never tried online.

Is it worth jumping in now? How's the community? Is there any risk of losing my character or cars (did they ever fix the single player missing car bug)?

I've been playing off and on since launch. Showstopper bugs (including the character deletion stuff) are mostly eradicated and the community is what it is. Most free roam lobbies are hilarious nonstop deathmatches (mostly fought in the middle of downtown LS) in my experience. Starting jobs with randoms is always good for a laugh, if not necessarily completing the job.

If you are on 360 I'm happy to take you under my wing as I'm sure other gaffers would.

Free roam sessions are far from civilised and especially dangerous for a low level nobody will trust you and are more likely to blast you on sight.

Happy to help level you up or just chill.

As other people have said, and you may have read, the free roam can be a warzone. But playing with friends is THE way to play. Help earning money, getting your back, things like that etc.. Major issues from back in the day are gone, and new issues are usually fixed.

I love it, solo or with some friends. Either way should provide plentiful entertainment. Looks like 360 opened their arms, and I do the same with the PS3 crew if you are on that. Send me a PM if you would like in! There *was* a merged crew, but I don't know much about their activity. PS3 crew still has a decent amount of people active, but lately I have not seen more than 5 at a time. So, if you are looking for large scale crew games, sadly, the PS3 gaf crew has yet to se a game like that :( Or you could just make a ton of friends that play!

Wow, the amount of idlers in Rooftop Rumble is fucking ridiculous now. Before, there'd occasionally be one guy who'd just stand around while everyone else did the mission. Now, it seems like almost everyone tries to idle during the mission. One guy drove to the place, then stopped and waited for everyone else to do the shooting. Then when we got the documents, he suddenly started moving again, and followed us. So now if I just wait at the garage until the other guys arrive, and essentially force them to actually do shit. Alternatively, grab the documents and just fuck around and wait for them to rage quit.

Downloaded the update over lunch and tried out some of the new stuff. The new Zentorno (based on the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento) is the gaudiest car in the game by far, especially with the 'Race Wing' option. The new apartment interior is nice - single floor layout with no stairs.

It's based on a gaudy IRL car so it fits, I agree that the wing is quite over the top though. My favorite super in the game now out of the 4 I own (still don't own an adder or entity).

And I agree that the new apt layout is nice, I don't miss having to go up and down those stairs just to get to the closet to change clothes.

Ooo I like that new layout. As far as super cars go, bleh, they are overrated. Certain Sports cars are just as fast, and waaaaay cheaper. How is the new sports car, anyone try it out yet? Regardless, I can't wait to play this. 50 minutes till work is done.

EDIT:

Anyone get the place at the Majestic?? I am wondering if the rooftop helipad might actually be usable if you live there..

I checked it out in single player and it's pretty neat, seems nice and quick with decent handling and a decent amount of visual options. It has a similar rear end to the Rapid GT which I'm not a huge fan of but overall I like it a lot more than the Jester which I never bought after trying out in SP.

Edit: No on the helipad, would be great but definitely didn't happen with this update lol.

Ah booooooo. Well, many thanks on the checking though, much appreciated. It's still kinda tempting...for the "possibility" in the future, even though it may never happen..

And I'm not the biggest Rapid GT fan as far as looks go, but it could be worse. I do a lot of first person driving, so I wouldn't see the back all that often, but there is always the occasional switch up. Sounds good though. The Comet is my favorite car, hands down in the game. I almost want something to potentially threaten that standing in my book, to challenge it, but I doubt anything will. Probably my bias to it. Fuck it though, we can now have 20 cars!! All the cars I've wanted, that aren't my "necessary cars", will finally be mine!! Feltzer, Infernus, Dinka Blista, the Bati sport bike, perhaps the new sports bike (I'm an Akuma man), Cabriazzone or w/e, Mesa, Rumpo and more! HuzzaaahhhHH!

I wonder if you can use the new garage (before filling it up anyway) to alter the order your cars are parked in your original garage by moving them back and forth between the two? Will have to check tonight. I do know you can move them back and forth - just not sure if it saves their positions after they're moved around or anything.

@Baron: well considering you said you like the Akuma and are considering a Bati, I don't think the Thrust is for you.

This is the bike it's modeled after:

You can definitely do that, I rode my Bati from my first garage to my second before I bought any new cars and it placed it in the first slot, in the original garage it was in the 9th.

* The following difficulty changes are going to be made to the Mission “Rooftop Rumble”:
o 50% of FIB agents present at the start of the mission now have high accuracy.
o Additional FIB agents spawn as players attack the parking garage. The agents spawn in two waves of cars.
o After all the agents on foot in the parking lot and the first wave of agents in cars are killed, the mission will either progress in 30 seconds or require players to finish off all FIB agents.
o The FIB agent carrying the documents Martin wants now spawns in a vehicle as the mission progresses.
Awwww! Damn! :(

That was my easy money mission lol

Like I said elsewhere when I saw the patch notes early this morning...

* Fixed an exploit where players were able to use Auto-Aim in Freeaim sessions.

I fuckin' knew it!

* Fixed an exploit where players were able to use Single Player cheats in Online.

And I wonder if that explains some of the other BS I've experienced.

As for the RR changes, wonder if it will really be that much more difficult to solo with the right vehicle, guess I'll find out in a bit.

Bahh. Course they had to go and ruin Rooftop Rumble. Anyone know any other ways to earn quick cash?

'Potshot' is $10.5K a run and really fast as a solo player. Just snipe the dudes by the bridge, block the bridge with a car and shotgun the van driver as he approaches. Move the car, drive the van to Trevor's and collect money. RP payout sucks, though.

Don't need the RP since I'm level 126. How long did it take? I could solo Rooftop rumble in about 3 minutes. Are you able to restart the mission over and over again or do you have to call someone everytime you want to do it like Rooftop Rumble?

You can call it up from the Online -> Jobs menu, and it takes a little less time than a decent RR run, so while it isn't as efficient, it's not too terrible.

I'll give it a try in a few hours. What I did with Rooftop rumble to speed it up a bit was call up my helicopter from Pegasus and then fly to the mission/to Martins house. Wonder if I could do the same here

Afraid not. You have to deliver the van. Whole mission takes about 2:30 once you have it down tho.

I might need to just change my strategy but RR is going to take a bit longer to solo. Damn agents shot the shit out of the of my Entity's engine which they've never done before.

It's still soloable, but having to chase down the car to get the documents is balls.

I like the change (atm at least), adds some difficulty to the mission and makes it feel a little more substantial for the reward you get.

Funny thing is I've played 2 or 3 of the new missions and they all pay like shit (I got 5k for two of them and 3.5k or whatever for the third) because they're all around rank 20 (RR being rank 75 for comparison). Here's the kicker though, they're all far more challenging than RR is! They honestly feel like they should be rank 90 missions no joke.

I hope to see them raise the rank required and payout of them considerably.

Oh ffs, I'm on dunce time again, and it says 4 days!
Someone tried to run me over again and I blew them up. That and I've been quitting on some custom races. I'm sorry but some of the crap I get into on random race can't be finished properly or it's just stupid. I'm not sticking around for 15 minutes waiting for it to finish.

I had a huge stash after the weekend but I'm down to a few hundred thou. We should be able to sell stuff like planes and copters. I've never really used my Luxor; we just crammed it full of people and crashed a few times.

Seriously. I've been wanting this ever since I first started playing. Don't like how we can't have homes in the town at the top of the map and the desert

I purchased a 6 car garage for 65k in the desert.

Also the Huntley is a total monster so quick and just sticks to the road.

The new Super is also insane added it to my collection of supers, minus the overrated
Adder.

Seriously the Adder is way overrated. The Turismo R is where it's at.

I've never owned an Adder or Entity, my favorite cars from GTA 4 were the Infurnus and Bullet so those were the two super cars I owned. Granted I don't race often because I quickly tire of people pitting and ramming you on purpose instead of attempting to race clean but I've got a decent record at 77/102.

Although now I also own the Turismo R and the Zentorno because they're pretty rad looking and fun to drive.

Hmm looks like I'll be buying a 6 car garage in the desert to store my off road vehicles
