Grandia 3 for PS2

thank god, there aren't nearly enough RPGs with optimistic spikey-haired anime protagonists, Grandia 3 will fill that important niche

Not quite. I think a lot of people are going to be surprised when the scans go up.

I like the sound of that!

2ch is saying there are air combos like XSep2/SH2 where you can launch the enemy up and combo them. They say the screenshot lists the enemy's current height level.

Here's a random pic from Code Age Archives manga:

Also, I realise now that FF and DQ stuff never gets announced in Famitsu first - it's always Jump. Famitsu still hasn't featured Slime Mori Mori 2...

Hmm, Code Age...

Archives - manga
Brawls - anime?
Commanders - game

A, B, C... Square Enix really has a dumb fixation with the alphabet.

I love Grandia 1 (Xtreme was a fun side-trip) as much as the next person, but for some reason Grandia 3 isn't getting me very excited...

Right there with ya...

Yeah, I always did enjoyed the real time/turn battle system in Grandia series. Reminds me of Evolution Worlds too. :)

Hope they kept that. Extreme was alright for a dungeon crawler but otherwise nah. I enjoyed the second a lot. I don't know what it was, maybe its that crisp graphics Dreamcast had. But then again, I'm a sore sucker for moody protagonists.

rumors:

--character designer is the Valkyrie Profile guy
--graphic style looks similar to Grandia 2
--director is Hidenobu Takahashi who directed Grandia 2 and co-directed(?) Grandia Xtreme

Also seems like the Japanese community doesn't really give a shit about the Grandia series and the real big SE event is Code Age. Grandia 3 is just a small side announcement.

Where are the scans!? *brain explodes*

The VP character artist was two people, Kou and You Yoshinari (assuming they're the character designers and not just the illustrators).

Yes, we ALL lose. Game over.

Considering how "average" the FMA games are by most accounts, I can't say I'm all that excited about this Code Age deal. We shall see though.

According to more accurate posters, Grandia 3 looks like it has the most beautiful PS2 graphics so far! Can't wait to get the mag for myself.

Basically it was pretty far into development and then the merger happened, and Squeenix came in and said "nuh-uh" on the visuals and did a lot of housecleaning. So it's possible it looks a lot different now than it did two years ago.

Haha, can you share anymore details like that? Any idea how it played back then? Or if it even had the budget to be anything more than a footnote in Gameart's history?

Sorry this is old, but fucking christ, are you being serious here?!?

Grandia II actually has a really good localization, and the voices were the same producer (and a lot of the same staff) as Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2. I didn't have any issues, really.

Basically they were acceptable... for a videogame. Which means that by regular voice standards (movies, animated tv shows) it still pretty much sucks.

The imaginative color and rich detail of Grandia's worlds can almost be tasted sweetly on the tongue. The fly-by cut-scenes over the towns were a treat.

I knew a few guys from GameArts awhile ago. They had plans for an Xbox RPG a couple years back. I wonder whatever happened to it.

Did you run that through Babelfish, or...?

it's a DC game...his thought proccess goes to hell and he looses most of his senses when talking about them

that said...I agree that Grandia II's choice of colors were indeed the flavor of the game had great feeling

Holy crap! Best news I've heard all year! Who needs next gen when PS2 still pumps out one big game after another? I've got a lot of catching up to do.

HOLY CRAP I just got owned!

Taking back all snarky comments I made this afternoon!

With FFXII MIA this may very well be my most anticipated JRPG, now. Who'da thunk.
