I'd like to see a random dev take Titanfall 2 and work some unreal 5 magic on that shit. Would be fabulous given the arena sizes etc.

Star citizen developer's are just confirmed updating their global illumination and reflection systems to use complete features of ray tracing tech.

Funny thing about SC (one of many) is that their assets are already getting old and last gen during development and they have to redo stuff. They are also using old ass engine.

This game will never come out...

That's a never ending cycle. By the Time they complete new features they have to update others, though to be fair the game looks very good.

I keep forgetting about it.

It's just that it's going to be a walking simulator and set in a very oppressive area so while it will make for some fancy screenshots, its not just my kind of game. looks great though.

I wish indiana jones used nanite and lumen.

HZD remaster was their best shot at adding RTGI. nearly 3 years after the launch of HFW, PS5 only, perfect opportunity to test the new Decima features but nope. Lazy devs be lazy.
Stalker 2, walking simulator... ?

During the latest episode of the MinnMax Show on YouTube, host Ben Hanson mentioned hearing a few things about the next game from Naughty Dog, including comparison to “a game with a lot of player freedom”.
Hanson heard from somebody very in the know who worked on the next Naughty Dog game that people are not ready for how amazing it is going to be. He also mentioned that the game that were referenced as a point of comparison to Naughty Dog’s title has a lot of player freedom.
Naughty Dog president and game director, Neil Druckmann, had shared that the studio’s next game is really ambitious. He added that parts of the game are really hard to work on. However, he said that he has surrendered to knowing that it is going to be really hard and to knowing that it is going to be stressful for members of the development team.

I'm curious about the visual achievements Naughty Dog will deliver in their latest project.

Squadron 42 looks really amazing
Compared to starfield it looks generation ahead of starfield
Lol, completely different games with completely different objectives.
This is amazing

That really does looks phenomenal. Technically, yeah it's rough - performance is all over the place, lots of visual glithces, but the across-the-board presentation is above anything else out there. I know Starcitizen is a meme at this point, but if they polish that up, it may actually be what they promised 9 years ago.

I can't stop watching this gameplay cloud imperium developed their current engine (originally cry engine) to amazing level this game currently have quality on par or even better than UE5 best looking games and demos

Don't know if this was posted yet, but mother of God:

Unsure if it would be realistic or not to expect Next-Gen free-roams on this level at rock solid 60fps. Video is made on a 4080.

Edit:

Just booted Matrix Awakens immediately after. Answer is yes.

For streaming tech junkies, since its a hot topic this gen..

To understand the tech behind this engine, its all seamless, no loadings. The planet from that battle is physically there, not a jpeg like nearly all space games. In fact, at this timestamp in the video, it instantly load from space to the planet surface's evacuation, still see the massive ships in the sky.

Even playing Star citizen and seeing this engine many times, I didn't think it would load that quickly from such a transition. I always thought that an atmosphere re-entry was kind of a given as being slow in a way to stream assets, but nope, apparently not needed if they want to. From space to ground in that kind of speed and having as much as a cloud kind of change resolution, compared to the massive pop-ins and textures failing to load on unreal engine when the scene changes camera, makes this engine feel like witchcraft.

Also, the freaking jungles, in such a scale

And red woods @ 9mins

The weather @ 14:15, I dare say, looks better than even microsoft flight sim weather.

will ferrell omg GIF

Is it possible to upload HDR screenshots in jxr format? Because HDR converted to SDR doesnt look very good.

But well, I started playing Hellblade 2 on PC, running with DLDSR (3440*1440P and 1,78x DLDSR), Reshade and max Settings, and removed effects like film grain and chromatic abberation, the result is really fantastic, the game looks and plays like a movie.

it was cool at first but im in the third world and its frankly been underwhelming. i was hoping they actually implemented these physics into gameplay but its just been for show.

rather basic game too. platformers need to evolve. you cant be making games from the 90s anymore. we are upset that most modern games are still following the same formula introduced in the ps360 then perfected in the ps4 era, but for some reason platformers get a pass despite being basic as fuck and doing nothing new.

This just cgi level if crytek wasn't lost and focus in developing cryengine it would have better potential than UE5 right now, but cloud imperium develop cryengine to great level
Scale is impressive but i was underwhelmed by the cutscenes. it feels like an old game with stilted animations both facial and motion capture. the gameplay is also extremely basic.

The horizon df special was eye opening, the chit-chat tech is not the same as fw, it's an improved zero dawn, water is not as good and some characters look a bit sketchy.

Still good for 10 euros but kinda half assed, they didn't reach parity with fw like they said.

This ...the gameplay is pathetically easy and basic. Gaf raves about this game

Sometimes James look straight up CG in cutscenes. Amazing accomplishment by Bloober. I did not expect bloober of all studios to deliver this level of cutscene fidelity.

I didn't expected some of the more subtle facial animations from them, we are nd level here strangely enough.

The best acting is in one of the endings so do yourself a favour and watch all the endings on yt when you finish the game.

The acting is very hit and miss tho, james and laura are the best but angela and maria sometimes are meh.

It has a very dated look to it still. John switching to the Horizon FW footage exposed just how dated this remaster looks. Which is weird because they overhauled the lighting, (relit everything apparently), updated the character models and are using the new foliage tech from HFW.

Just proves that remaking games isnt easy and what bluepoint is doing is harder than it looks. or maybe bluepoint is remaking games that look like ps2 games so the difference is more noticeable.

Still, the fact that it looks dated means Nixxes could've done a whole lot more.

They probably had a 50 dollars and 10 meal vouchers worth of budget.

This is greedy sony maximizing the income.

Them increasing the price of vanilla horizon on the shop was a dead give away.

I am with you it needs huge improvement in animation and gameplay elements but the graphics and lighting are truly impressive considering it's scale, some scenes looked straight up cgi

Definitely in the third world. Beat the second world water boss then played at least a couple more missions. The first one was a time showing mechanic in a casino, i don’t remember the other one because it was so forgettable.

The problem is that these levels feel like mini game tech demo caliber levels from the first game. It’s cool for a free demo but in a full game? They feel hollow and basic.

It’s good for a kids game i guess.

If you wanted to achieve the highest possible visual fidelity, you would not be wasting half the gpu by rendering at native 4k

This is the thing that bugs me the most. The devs just talking nonsense. First it was Druckmann saying its been designed from the ground up on PS5 then GG saying the PS4 didnt hold them back. At least SSM was honest about their laziness. Dont try and sell me this next gen leap when I have eyes and can tell they arent even close to maxing out the visual fidelity.

Also, if you were relighting the whole game from scratch, why not use next gen lighting? Why limit yourself to PS4 quality lighting? This is so fucking stupid.

Nixxes is basically a mass production chain, so why even read a word about them?
so was Bluepoint before they remade SOTC. iirc, they started with the mgs remaster then the ico/sotc remaster, then ported titanfall to xbox 360 and finally made the uncharted remaster before being given the keys to remake something from scratch. And they nailed it. Nixxes just phoned this in.

At the very least they shouldve built this on the latest branch of the decima engine since DS2 seems to have some kind of RTGI implementation.

Represent. Represent. I finally watched your favorite movie Civil War, and while I dont think it was a great movie or anything, I legit laughed when i found out they made this movie for just $50 million. the final 30 minutes are absolutely insane with all out war sequences featuring tanks, choppers, humvees, RPGs, and all kinds of setpieces, and only $50 million?

Meanwhile spiderman 2 is $300 million. Horizon, GOW and TLOU2, $200 million. gtfo.

Gaming industry feels like a money laundering operation. If hollywood can make movies like this for that cheap, there is no way video games and especially basic ass last gen sequels would cost that much.

It is high time we stopped treating anything coming from gamedevs (whether they be tweets, interviews, blogposts) as anything other than advertisements like the ones you see on the telly. We don't bat an eyelid when an ad for a jam which claimes to be BEST TASTING EVER tastes like every other jam in the market in reality. Same deal here.

Marketing speak is an inevitable part of business . Best we can do is do our own independent analysis and make our own judgements.

Hellblade 2 was great, it is a short game, but I bought Gamepass on PC for a month to play the Black Ops 6 Campaign and finished Hellblade 2 in 2 nights with a bit over 6 hours.
The presentation, both graphics and sound are absolutely great, espcially playing it on an Ultrawide OLED monitor with HDR, I think this game has one of the best HDR implementations I've ever experienced.

I'm really excited what Ninja Theory will bring up with Project Mara.
And Im also thrilled for the next Witcher, using Nanite, Lumen and Hardware Raytracing, this game could really look fantastic.

Couple of more Hellblade 2 screenshots on PC, I removed chromatic abberation and filmgrain, resolution is 3440*1440P, added with 1,78x DLDSR which results in 4857*1920P, with DLSS Quality, Frame Generation and Reshade:

IMO civil war was built to be seen in a theater i think - the sound design is brilliant, very effective the gunfire and explosions are really loud and jarring - not sure how it plays on a smaller screen
