Graphical Fidelity I Expect This Gen

Yes I agree, I watched the IGN Nvidia video that was shared earlier in this thread, and man, gamers are so dumb, almost all the comments are in the negative, they just don't want Ray Tracing, Path Tracing & whatever AI Neural Rendering visuals they'll bring, they keep making up false assumptions around DLSS by saying "DLSS ruined game optimization", IDK where this negativity is coming from, they hate it when a game comes out that pushes graphical fidelity.

They seem to want to run all games at max settings on their stinky RTX 4060 or 5070 with Path Tracing, and they get mad when these cards cannot run them at the desired framerates, yet they don't want to use DLSS Super Resolution because it's "not native" when it literally makes games look better than native, the level of entitlement & lack of technical knowledge are stunning I swear.
This is general problem with most non informed casual gamers, they are hivemind and don't actually know what they are talking about so they ruin things for the real gamers. These hivemind gamers regurgitate wrong information and hate. Thank god Naughty Dog made TLOU 2 and didn't listen to the hivemind…

wait TLOU 2 uses raytracing?

Console only gamers like to pretend like console only games are the pinnacle of graphics. It's why Yotei is being gushed about as the best looking game ever, when Assassin Creed Shadows released six months ago and is sitting right there to compare to. Spoiler: Shadows is graphically superior in virtually every way. SH2 and AW2 on PC are a generation ahead of anything on consoles right now.
I play games on a PS5 Pro or Xbox Series X and don't own a high-end PC.

(A) 720p / Ultra Setting / HWRT (more Low-Resolution) / 30-40fps
(B) 1440p / Mid Setting / w/o RT/ 60fps

Between (A) and (B), I think (B) looks better when playing on a 4K TV.
This is because no matter how beautiful and cutting-edge the graphics are, if the resolution and frame rate are too low, they will appear blurry and incomprehensible to console players.
Yotei and DS2 look crisp and sharp in 4K TV on the base PS5 (even if some of the graphics tech is outdated).
It would be difficult to achieve high resolution, frame rate, and advanced lighting at the same time on a 10-12 TFLOPS console.

As an example, here are some screenshots of Hellblade 2 that I took when playing on Xbox Series X. *30fps Mode

I agree, picture should be crisp enough to not destroy the visuals, that's what upscaling technology is for…

most UE5 games on consoles are 1440p reconstructed to 4k using TSR. Not 720p in the 30 fps mode.
From twitter. Some of y'all comparing Yotei to other sony 1st party cross-gen games are acting silly. TLOU/Horizon could never.

Big screen or small screen, direct capture or offscreen, this game does enough to distinguish from cross gen. Regardless of any inconsistencies, which all games suffer from.

That does look good no doubt, it's just hard to feel THAT impressed given how linear that section is. It's literally just walking through the water in a straight line.
yeah the game overall feels very dated because they kept the level design the same which in turn kind of keeps the visuals from having the same kind of impact. it doesnt have that scale we have come to expect since the ps360 era. of course, the final chase sequence is still as grand as ever, but the forest levels definitely couldve been expanded a bit.

Agreed, final chase is Kojima at his best!
