Gravity Rush 2 |OT| Mewton's Law of Gravity

Do they explain where Dusty comes from? Or rather why he miraculously reappears? That was hokey.

Gravity Storms man, whatever. It's like the Speedforce.

You lost your magic cat, then he came back? Gravity Storms.
You lost your car keys? Gravity Storms.
You neighbor's wife suddenly missing and he's immediately on the dating scene again? These Gravity Storms be trippin

I'm still early, idk if it's explained

Are the missions going to get any better? I'm trying to find a rich bastard with only the hint of "he's somewhere on this island" and 90% of the missions seem to be about finding the needle in the haystack. Not to mention the horrible stealth and escort missions. Without the upbeat vibe, Kat and the wonderful traversal I'd have dropped this game several hours ago and I don't remember the GR1 remaster being this annoying.

edit: And fittingly, after finding the guy he says
"now my favourite hobby is giving other people stress". Is this the game director speaking?

As promised, Gaffers (and 2ch-ers, and Mr. Toyama, if you're reading!), I'm figuring out this game's alphabet, which works much like in the previous game, as seen here on GAF four years ago. The general principle was in fact worked out by Leonardo da Vinci, as explained to famous assassin Ezio Auditore here:

All through the first Gravity Rush, this was the main theme. Read from right to left, dropping every third letter beginning with the last. So "Gravity Daze" becomes EZD YTVAG, and "Hekseville" becomes ELIVSKH.

This time they seem to be keeping the same principle, but they've made a whole new Asian-inspired alphabet that has elements taken from kanji and kana. It's quite distinctive, don't you think?

I don't have all the letters yet, and I'm sure there are many surprises to find, but we can already read quite a lot so far. And we can go right out into the world and start reading!

Check out this shipping container in Jirga Para Lhao.

The word "container" would be REIANO, so let's plug those letters in for the six we see on the side of that container.

If we have N, A, and I, we can take a stab at this construction site barricade. I?II? NENA yields an_en ?_ii_?i. Here in Japan, these things often say 安全第一, "anzen dai-ichi", which means "safety first". Looks like a winner! It's IHIID NENA, and we've got H and D now.

We're off and running; time to start flying around and finding stuff! Already I see a warehouse right in the area that says ESOHR, so they're abbreviating even more sometimes. I've also spotted a green vending machine in town that says, left to right this time, DRINK.

All the chapter titles are Romanized Japanese -- so far perfectly converted into Hepburn Romanization, but with no long vowels; in the first game there were all kinds of irregularities.

Chapters 1 to 5, which is as far as I've come:

Demo: INMUT URZEASRU (yurusarezaru tsumuni, "forbidden cargo")

1: IHNE IKHSNA (kanashiki tenshi, "a sad angel")

2: IAEN ON IHTOIRT (hitoribotchi no negai, "all alone, a request")

3: AMT ONAPIH (shinpan no tema, "theme of the judge")

4: UN IA ONWIUK (kubiwa no nai inu, "a dog without a collar")

5: AW ON AKNOUZM (mizu no naka no wa, "a circle in the water")

Much, much more to come! There seem to be all 26 letters and also 10 digits -- many of the billboards in town have what look like phone numbers or address numbers on them. Can't tell which digits are which, though the roundish one with the slash through it, vaguely resembling the Japanese kana ゆ, could be 0.

We can see the original game's alphabet too; the sound effects in the comic book portions are perfectly readable in it; just remember to start on the right. Lots of "mnnn" and "fu!" and "pyo!" sounds common in manga.

Another example is the tutorial screens. When the tutorial shows a UI screen, it shows things in the game's own language. Here is just one example:

The word in white is AWAKTOIH, or hito to kaiwa ("talk with a person") Above it is ATKAAYTOTO, which I'm still trying to puzzle out, and there are a few other words in there.

Can't wait to see what else this game offers!

So, without spoiling anything, um... when does anything of consequence happen?

Maybe it's my own fault for doing every side mission as they pop up but so far I'm up to mission 7 out of
20
and it just feels like I'm everyone's super-powered errand-girl up to this point.

I'm not too bothered about the cheery and laid-back vibe of the game or Kat's passiveness, since she's been shown to be naive but sincerely nice, but it is starting to grate on me a bit as to how little has actually happened for the amount of time I've been playing. It's not so much a slow start as it is a non-start.

Damn I just realize I don't have the first game save in the HDD and I can't download it if the game is not installed.
Wii I get the costumes once I put the save in the console even if I have already played lots of hour?

Finished the Remaster a few minutes ago. Third time I completed the game :D

Japanese release
west release
remaster

How hard is the drop from 60 to 30 fps going into the sequel?

Not hard at all. I did a 100% playthrough of the Remastered original only 2 days before GR2 released and it wasn't a problem for me at all.

Where are rare nevi? I thought they were in the disturbances that pop up in the mining areas and ive gone to 4 but no stat ticks for rare nevi.

Also. 30 hours in and 11550/60000 gems??? Ugh.

Fuq zee poh peopell

I imagine they all speak with French accents in rich town.

The thing I love about kat's animation is just how ridiculously over the top it is. When she runs it looks exactly like how you'd imagine a woman in platform shoes hauling ass would look like.

Do they explain where Dusty comes from? Or rather why he miraculously reappears? That was hokey.

Short answer: Sort of.

Long answer :
Im not too sure myself, but I think Dusty is a "guardian" who appears for Eto royalty. He appears because Bit interfered. Again, the reason I put "sort of" is because the game doesn't make it clear.

Eng game spoilers, not related to the above :

The gestures button works at the final boss. I almost took a picture of Kat happily eating Ice Cream admits a destroyed city before the final boss hit me,

Do you get anything for doing the side missions? Not even gems?

A bunch of furniture, photo items and talismans. Nothing extraordinary. The reason for doing the side quests are for the decent stories they contain. They are surprisingly comfy (the stories, not the gameplay).

Love the world, controls, characters and music, but the side missions are nothing short of abysmal mechanics wise. At least the charm of the game saves it a bit.

Oh god you just resurfaced awful awful memories of that side mission.

For those unaware,
you have to throw a frisbee precisely at a certain spot, without moving out of a circle and using only statis field. Oh and you have to do it enough times to fill up a bar, fail and the bar goes down.

The music during the mission was nice though, wished it was the theme for Lei Havina instead.

Oh, and Protip to anyone doing missions where you have to talk to random people to progress through the mission. Try talking to stationary people. The talking to people gimmick really boggles the mind. It's super adorable the first few times, and every other time it's super frustrating to get a "Juice see?" from Kat.

Played up to where
Kat gets her powers back
. I've missed this so much.

Oh btw I preordered it from Amazon and the white costume was a preorder bonus... anyone know how to equip it? Do I need a code from Amazon or is it just in there already?

I'll be back to talk about this game once I play more of it, but I hope everyone's enjoying it as much as I am. :D

The opening scene/game is so incredibly gorgeous, tho.
When you're going down on the elevator.
Absolutely beautiful!!! I can't wait to see more of it.

I just dide the side quest about mining with
Raven. Was pretty funny seeing Kat trying to make it into a competition and always losing lol And the end was cool, with Raven willingly losing.

Didn't like Raven much in GR1 but seems like she gets a Syd-like upgrade and it's better in 2

You should get a code from Amazon sent to your email. You can input the code in the 'redeem codes' section in the PS Store. You'll get a notification for the outfit during the game once you reach a certain point early in the game.

"hello?" "this is vagina"
I realise playing Gravity Rush that the thing I miss about Japanese games is their willingness and ability to express joy both in story and sensation.

There are so many moments of Kat just helping people because it's the right thing to do, without any po faced heroics or undermining cynicism. Then of course the traversal itself is complete dream fulfilment.

The last time I can remember a game making me feel so warm and fuzzy was Persona 4, with its earnest friendships and emotional spectrum that was brave enough to stray outside of the misery and cynicism Western games get so stuck in.

That's cool you found a pic of mine! I've decided to start taking pics near the market and in well known slots to get views. Hope that works.
