GTA V PC Trailer (60 FPS)

Wow someone actually said 60fps is too gamey. People actually buy into that PR "cinematic 30fps" bullshit. Absolutely unbelievable.

I think he/she means that it feels unnatural. To some degree and depending on the game I can agree that 60 instead of 30 can feel unnaturally smooth and "wonky", but I'm going to shoot that statement down at the same time. 60fps is crisper in motion and in turn more realistic in that way alone. Having a sharp image in motion is gold because it's more like real life. Using strobelighting while playing games at 120fps for example is simply amazing.

thats the best part though

For me it was the worst. Nothing like a smooth song suddenly getting derailed with fuck-this-fuck-that nonsense. I have no problem with rap, but for me it ruined an otherwise pretty good song. I like what they did to the original instrumental.

But on topic, I wish I had a PC that could handle this game at 60fps. Makes my PS4 version look really shitty, which itself made my 360 version look really shitty.

To me it's the other way around. 30fps feels like everything is running in slow motion. I hate it. HATE. No elitist it's one of the things I can't stand about gaming on consoles. I was pro at dark souls 1 and 2 PC 60fps because the response time is so great. But I'm sucking adjusting to bloodborne because it feels like it's moving underwater.

60fps video of game gets posted. People get salty. People fight. Ok GAF.

If only this were a console game, eh? Those threads, you can feel the camaraderie from fucking space, man. People getting together to extol the virtues of 60fps... but yo, keep your fucking PC gloating to yourselves shit doesn't even look cinematic anyway bla bla bla

I'm curious to see how it handles SLI at launch. If it supports it then I'm golden, if not, I'm a bit buggered until we find a way around it.

So I just watched the new PC trailer and one thing is already certain for me: I will absolutely not play this game at 60 fps. It just looks so smooth it's unnatural. I recently bought a GTX 980 and never ever do I play games at 60 fps. People are probably thinking WTF, but I just do not like the look and feel of 60 fps. Let me explain:

I consider (almost) every videogame I play as an interactive movie, so 30 fps isn't always a bad thing for me. "Why did I buy a 980 when I don't even play at 60 fps?" I hear people ask? Because I like to downsample the fuck out of every game. Downsampling is, for me, more important than achieving a "perfect" 60 fps. I don't play games at 30 fps either though. I love 30 fps for it's cinematic feel, but it's just too stuttery for me, whereas 60 fps is too smooth. The solution? Cap the framerate at 45 fps. Best of both worlds! 45 fps is my perfect framerate and it also allows me to DSR the shit out of every game! So while most people will be playing GTA V at 1920 x 1080 60fps, I'll be aiming more for something like 2880 x 1620p at a capped 45 fps.

tl;dr
I bought a GTX 980, but never play at 60fps. Instead I cap the fps at 45 and use my 980 to downsample. IQ > Framerate

i'm hoping that playing in first person will be a lot more fun at 60fps. My excitement is real. I want R* to release a mod workshop but that could massively eat into their DLC piggy bank so I can't see it happening.

i7 770, please be enough for 1080/60. If not my bank will get raided.

To all those that have waited spoiler free, I salute you, and hope the wait makes playing it like nectar to your eyes :)

Real people only move in 30 fps, bro. Bloodborne is accurately portraying life. So elitist.

Yes, it is pretty bad. And I am among the crowd that thinks that 30fps works well in certain conditions. (Drive Club is a good example)

Doesn't change the fact that 60 is objectively better.

Each to their own but I think you're insane for buying a PC and deliberately throttling one of the main reasons of buying said PC. But as I said each to their own.

Maybe he's got dat G-sync? Otherwise, he's being ridiculous.

Yeah, without G-sync it is sort of ridiculous. Far me it for me to say someone's squandering a thousand dollar build so long as they like what they're getting out of it, but wow, I've never heard that one before.

but hey, I appreciate downsampling as much as the next guy because every time I engage in it the difference leaves me fucking breathless. (if you can downsample GTA V from 4k at 30fps on your build I absolutely could not blame you for choosing that over 1080p/60! Those screens hhngngngng) So I can understand choosing it over framerate. 45fps, though? Might as well just kick her down to thirty and go balls out because 45 FPS is just weird

That is... a brilliant version of the wat woman.

1st person + mouse + 60fps = Kreygasm

I'm still going to wait to get this on a amazon/steam/etc deal or something. No rush and I already played the PS3 version. By the time I get it mabye I'll finally have a new motherboard and a Intel cpu.

you are about to get dragged. Preferring IQ over frame rate is blasphemy apparently.

Expect to hear much, much more about Grand Theft Auto V PC in the very near future, right here on GeForce.com.
This makes me think there will be some sweet Nvidia goodness in GTA 5.

And there is also this :
Grand Theft Auto V arrives on PC April 14th after an agonising wait. It'll be worth it though, thanks to higher-resolution textures, higher-quality effects, extra music, PC-exclusive graphical enhancements,
I'll be surprised if this is true but okay.

I mean, it's not, but locking oneself to 45fps is just not something I can wrap my head around o.0 because at its best a framerate like that would leave you with a predictable and jarring stutter like release-day Bethesda games

Can we please permanently switch from 60fps "doesn't look cinematic enough" to "looks like Benny Hill." I'm loving that.

MY EYES! They bleed! Totally jarring. 30 FPS is fine for me. 60 FPS looks so speed-up it's ridonkulus. I have never seen the need for 60 FPS, what does it actually accomplish for you PC-people?

Smoother more fluid animations in everything that moves. More detail is able to be seen in animations. More fluid camera panning. More responsive control over the game. More pleasant to look at in general similar to how higher refresh rates reduce eyestrain and headaches, I find higher framerates much more pleasant. Less/no need for motion blur.
If you're not a PC gamer yet and don't want to be/can't be, I'm sure you'll understand when PS5 comes out.

Stop! Stop it! You stop talking sense right now!

lol you people are radical 60fps fanatics... thats what i can't wrap my head around. I totally understand where Dries is coming from... i even kind of agree. If i didn't have G-sync, i would do the same thing that he does for his games... but since i have G-sync... i don't care about the variability of my frames. I also agree that GTAV at 60fps looks weird. please don't burn me at the stake.

Unless your Adam Jensen your eyeballs aren't cameras and don't see in frames per second, you do realize this, right?
Well in practice they do, because the temporal integration our eyes do works like a low-pass filter.
This results in a so-called critical flicker fusion rate (CFF) that would be the analogue of a 'framerate' of our eyes.

CFF depends on brightness among other factors but 90 Hz should be enough in most situation.
Remember 'flicker-free' CRTs? That's because they flicker so fast that our eyes can't see the black periods between flashes anymore.

I wonder how many preorders they have so far. It's been in the top 3 in the Steam top sellers list since it first appeared.

You do have a G-sync screen? Oh thank god.

Might be time to OC my 3770k.

Here's your reply. Hope nobody else takes this bait.

Hey I am a PC gamer (to a degree) and I find 60FPS to feel a bit "fast forward" in cut scenes. in gameplay its different because it makes you feel like you have finer control. But n cut scenes it's still weird to me.

Awesome trailer. The complaints over 60 fps for a pc trailer/game is really surprising. Looks like Rockstar can never win with some people.

Most people don't have G-Sync. On normal screens anything other than 30 fps or 60 is a juddery, screen-tearing mess.
