so GamesRocket has the PC version of just GTA4, to download for $10? anyone purchase anything from them before?
It's $5 on Steam right now ($7.50 for GTA IV + Episodes).
Ehhhh I tried it out and didnt really like the look of it.
Also couldnt run ENB SSAA with it.
Like my own ENB im using better.
Comments like this annoy me, do you think Rockstar intentionally code the game to look like ass?damn these guys should work for rockstar. if i was them, i would snatch these guys up immediately!
Anyone has a solution for the memory leak problem (texture/building are all gone after 30 minutes of play, more or less) ?
I'm using 1.35 btw.
Are you using any traffic fixes? Some of those will cause it.
Any texture packs? They can also screw up texture streaming.
I think I have only a road texture pack with a nitro mod. No car pack, no traffic fixes. Just the traffic slider cranked to the max in the options.
Should I re-install only a clean 1.35 ?
I'd remove anything that isn't in 1.35, so if you can't remove that texture pack manually I'd suggest a fresh install. Texture packs and traffic mods always screw up my game.
Using 2.1 at the moment. It sounds like I should have gone with 1.35. Is there an easy way to tone down the colour saturation in the iceconfig? The colours are way too rich at the moment.
Not really, he's done too much tweaking that isn't just in the iceconfig. The game looks like a cartoon now plus I have this horrible black flickering on my screen. It's like he ditched all the sweet ENB effects in hope of better performance which he got - I'm getting 70-100FPS with this release, however it looks like trash.
Get his 1.35 release and tweak it a bit with this http://gtabay.cba.pl/index_dokumentacja_gta4_en.htm if you want something changed.
For those people who can't get the game working when launching ,try running the game in administrator mode.Ran for me like that.
Just installed 2.0n yesterday, played an hour with it (driving around) and thought it looked pretty good.I was previously running the older version, which I then went to install 2.0n and it didn't run, so I done a fresh installation and ran it in administrator mode and everything went good.
I must admit, I wasn't too happy with the look of 2.0n, but after seeing all the weather/lighting changes that occur, I didnt mind it.

is this the final verdict GAF? Dodge the 2.1 release, downgrade my GTAIV to 1.4 and use Icenhancer 1.35?

Then you gotta go play it, everything is super bright and it looks quite bad.
I've been playing 2.1 and it's actually very nice. TBH though I did mix it with some files from 1.35 and I have kinda no idea what I done but it went from being super bright to normal with some good (lots bad) reflections and lens flare. Overlooking some of the dumb reflection settings it is nice but night time is a mess. Anything not lit by street lights or cars is pure black. Sky seems to not have any stars or emit any kind of moon light which is weird. Not sure how to sort it out. Maybe a new skybox is needed.
can't you adjust the screen settings or something...I mean, why does it look great in that video...it looks like it is direct feed.
I have to wonder if Rockstar looks at this, and then worries that vanilla GTA V will not look as good and people will laugh.

I did the same thing today and am actually pretty happy with it. But I don't have the bugs you do.
Thanks for asking I had forgoteen but I wanted to ask the same thing. Did he fake it? It appeared real and looked amazing, or FAR better than vanilla at least.

yeah I know just noticed that when I logged in.
but do the latest mods work for Steam's version?
I love how everyone just ignored this post right here because it would really help OP and myself if you answer.
The latest icehancer says right on the site that it works with the Steam version.
So, apparently there's a final version coming out tonight.

So... you guys are saying we should stick to the 1.35 release with some texture packs/mods? What texture packs/mods would you recommend to get it all done well without tweaking numbers and details myself? I'd just like to install a few files over the pre-existing files and then see how it runs on my PCNot tweak numbers for hours

Fek, I might consider another playthrough of GTAIV just to play with the mod. I didn't pick it up during steam sale though. Bah. :/
Same here, played through it on Xbox... now bought it on PC during the sale, probably gonna play through it + Expansions with the mod.. I'm just trying to get some input here on what mods/texture packs/scripts/whatever is recommended for best looks![]()
1. Start Steam, open your Library, right-click on "Grand Theft Auto IV" and click on Properties. Move to the tab "Updates" and change the given option to "Do not automatically update this game".
Close Steam.
2. Download the 1.0.4.0-Patch; for example from here: Click and install it. If an error occurs during the installation you can use this archive that contains the patch as well. Just merge the content of the archive with your GTAIV-Mainfolder and overwrite everything.
3. Download the "Rockstar Social Group Tool" (RGSG): Click, but DO NOT install it!
4. Change the name of your "GTAIV"-Folder (X:\(...)\Steam\SteamApps\common\grand theft auto iv\GTAIV) to something else than "GTAIV". This is important, because otherwise you will have to reinstall GTAIV and start all over again.
5. Now install the RGSG-Tool. It creates a new "GTAIV"-folder with the Tools components in "X:\(...)\Steam\SteamApps\common\grand theft auto iv\". Should the installations be stopped by an error, download this archive: Click
The archive contains the installed RGSG-Tool.
6. Copy the content of this new created "GTAIV"folder (X:\(...)\Steam\SteamApps\common\grand theft auto iv\GTAIV) into your old "GTAIV"-folder, that you renamed before.
7. Erase the "GTAIV"-folder of the RGSG-Tool and rename your old "GTAIV"-folder with its gamecontent back to "GTAIV". The folder should still be in "X:\(...)\Steam\SteamApps\common\grand theft auto iv\".
8. That's it. As long as you do not have rests of incompatible mods (Xliveless- and ScriptHook-user go on reading after this), GTAIV should now rund perfectly in version 1.0.4.0. It is always the best method to start without mods and then reenabling one for one, until everything is fine.
finished downloading the Steam version...started and then quit....ready to do all this other stuff that downgrades my patch to 1.0.4.0...but man does it seem like some serious shit...
does anyone know if this is still the *easiest* process?
Once you downgrade it to 1.0.4.0., don't use Steam to launch the game. It'll auto-update back to 1.0.7.0. even if you tell it not to. Use the game's .exe to launch directly, instead. Or add it as a non-Steam game like i did.
