A long as it dosent have the whiplash "serious scene ends with awkward joke" ratio that made the 2nd one awful, it should be fine.

I couldn't sit thru the Christmas special. It was just bad.

And now I heard that you sorta have to see it to understand some things that happen in the movie.

I have no idea why they do this, this is dumb.

The reality is this- interest in comic book movies is waining. People have been following the MCU for the past 15 years, the momentum is impossible to maintain.
They had 2 options, take a break from it (wasn't going to happen) or pivot slightly and try and capture the next generation; Gen Z. They chose Gen Z and it hasn't panned out so far.
They need to massively slow down and improve quality and let the franchise breath and slowly pick up pace again.

That said, I'm looking forward to seeing Vol. 3. After that, who knows.

I think it will still do okay. I'm definitely going to see it. I'm still iffy of if it is gonna do not great or just meh.

I goto see these with kids in 4DX it makes them slightly more entertaining as you're flung about and assaulted with all kinds of shit, takes your mind off how mind numbingly generic marvel movies have become and turns it into one big long 3D roller coaster ride

Mario stomped on it.

The Super Mario Bros. Movie was expected to reach $1 billion in global box office sales and it seems it will achieve this milestone by the end of the weekend.

According to a new update from Deadline, the Universal, Illumination and Nintendo movie will surpass the billion-dollar mark by Sunday, making it the first movie of 2023 to reach this figure. If all goes to plan, it will have taken just 26 days to achieve this.

No movie genre can dominate for so long. People eventually get tired if it. The quality has dipped for sure but I think it's superhero fatigue.

If they were smart they would shut all marvel movies down, sell merchandise and rides at their theme parks, and reboot it in 5 years this time w FF4 and XMen after people had a breather.

But quarterly profits means that will never happen and it will continue to be driven into the ground.

They definitely should reboot/delay it if this is true:

But part of me is also curious of the dumper fire the current Disney writers will come up with. :messenger_winking_tongue:

Super hero fatigue has set in and partly because the first Guadiana gave them a paint by number way of making the movies. With more humor than before.

There is no way they would stop and come back. Too much money would be left on the table. And they waited to some extent for Star Wars and that was garbage.

Guardians of The Galaxy 1 is my favorite Marvel movie. Part 2 took me a while, but now I like it too. Part 3, somehow I don't like the trailers at all and Starlord looks like he doesn't want to play the role anymore.

Which I already noticed in this Holiday Special. But I don't think it will gross less than Ant Man 3. The characters are too well beloved for that.

Oh goddammit, they are gonna get Ashton Kutcher for Reed, aren't they???

Has there ever been a female Thing? I feel like there must have at some point. Rule 34 here we come :p

I mean if reviewers aren't just gushing themselves over it then it's probably great 🤷

Why do we still pretend like these limey bum sniffers are anything but human garbage and a waste of space.

Keen to see it, I hope it's good but after suicide squad I feel like gunns whole shtick is running thin...

But there is no way on earth it can be as bad as the latest marvel/disney crap made by mentally ill people

80% RT is mixed? lol
And comic book movies rarely have high metascore, they're not some high quality cinema
But yeah if this movie struggles at the BO then Disney will be shook. This needs at least $700m to be somewhat profitable

I feel like a lot of folks have riffed on Gunn style humor, making him a less unique experience. He also can go way off the rails when left to his own devices, he benefits from some left/right limits.

Be awesome if he knew he was jumping to DC and just made a giant mic drop f u to Marvel though :p

IMHO there's only a few characters in the MCU that has been written well and treated with respect by the writers and not devolved into some dumb caricature of themselves.
Tony Stark, Peter Parker, and Nebula.
Nebula is the only reason this movie might not be complete shit and why I might watch it, because they might still treat her character with some respect.
Everything else about the GotG schtick has gotten tiresome...Drax is still dumb, Mantis still useless, Starlord still a goof....what has changed?

These movies usually grossed 700-800 million like it was nothing. Ant-Man 3 grossed only 470 million with a gigantic budget of 200 million and likely lost money as marketing is also a huge expense on top of the movie budget.

There were 3 movies made for one of the most lame and useless characters even by comic books standards?

Maybe Gunn failed the movie to support his DC career /s

Marvel movies and shows have dropped so hard in quality, it’s not even funny anymore. The writing is bad, the stories they tell are getting worse and worse all the time and even the new big bad’s actor is scarier in real life.

It is weird/sad/hilarious to see DC trying out this EU thing again, since it's so clear that the fad is in its last days. This applies to Nintendo too as they need to resist the temptation to get greedy after SMB.

People invested all this time into the MCU for over a decade and they're not going to do it again. The story wrapped up with the last Avengers and it seems obvious to me that people were like "welp, that was fun, what's next?" and the answer to that wasn't more Marvel shit, except with worse characters and boring/uninteresting stories.
