This is my Guardian right now.

I really like that armor. Especially the boots. I wonder if the appearance of armors vary depending on race. What level are you btw?
I'm 23 on my Norn Guardian. His armor is very Roman/Spartan looking so far. I'm pleasantly surprised I was expecting more fur honestly.
Someone brought their level 3 here who is just standing still spamming auto attack even after the event ended. Reported a bunch so I hope something is done.

Norn or Human? Slightly hard to tell with yours, but I'm guessing Norn.

Installing now! Wooooooooooooooooooooooooo! Also scored Kingdoms of Amalur for $12! This has been a great birthday so far!
If you solo a lot a Guardian is pretty useless then right? Nobody seems to coordinate or pay any attention in events. Just zerg whatevers moving, loot and leave without any other consideration.
birthday ruined
Actually Ive seen people talking that rangers can tank better than the more melee centric classes. Esp with that healing spring ability they got and a fully active pet also.
Have not gone deep into one myself, but am going off what Im mostly seeing fly through the map chat. Am sure folks here can set you straight.

Am having problems getting mumble set up. Cant seem to connect to the server.
You're going to have a lot of people like that in the beginning. People who don't dodge, won't pay attention. Just mindless noobs.
I just realized we're almost to 10,000 posts guys! Is it 20,000 before a new OT?
Ettins are the best. The game should begin with a level like Dark Souls where an Ettin slowly comes at you and you read "Hit V to Dodge Attacks"The dodging mechanic is a gamechanger for sure.
Battling multiple Ettins 2 levels higher without ever getting hit just feels so right.

What are you warriors putting your traits in?
I know I should probably find this out for myself, but I've been crazy busy lately (only managed to long on once since the head start and that was to reserve my name..) so I'm deferring to the Right Honourable Lord GAF.
Have engineers improved much since the closed beta? That was the last time I managed to play one and while I loved the look/flavour of the profession, it felt incredibly underpowered.
Have anyone tried the new 306 Nvidia drivers on their Macbook Pros? How does it run with these drivers?
IMO a untrue generalization. In some events. Yes.
There are lots of reasons. Some of them;
the event system does not know how to reward other types of participations. For example, I stopped fighting a boss, and just focused on ressurection, but this ended me with a bronze medal just because I was not dishing out damage. I was rezzing people left and right and dropping defensive banner buffs to help allies. I felt confident that I was one of the most productive people. They need to reward and encourage other types of behavior than just straight up damage.
Big fights create massive framerate drops for people, and they are simply forced to just tap between targets while moving around to hope to hit something and not get hit back. it happens a lot during escorts where its just killing fields. yellow non-hostile creatures also get killed. everything in the path of the player mob just gets attaacked.
so the lack of frames which makes the game unbearable is a cause. it becomes a "lets get the medal and get the hell out of here".
Also its simply hard to navigate and always understand the context why. it happens dynamically and they are fun, but its the opposite of SWTOR. lilttle presentation but great gameplay.
But there are also smaller events. you come across them all the time. these events require coordination. some will be failed if the escorts are not rezzed or saved or guarded. keeping something alives requires a strategy. as does making the enemy not being able to capture or steal some item or some person.
some events are about choice. I find that in many events, even when its not specified by the event text log, that i can gain completion towards event by doing non-hostile things. picking up items, pressing F on objects to activate or do something to something.
AT THE END of the day, events are more of the same. they are not here to make you kill or collect less. they just removed the social barriers provided by traditional quests. this is not your great story or skyrim imersion part 2. instead its just an excuse to kill things with friends. thats all we could expect.
Some events repeat so fast that the "changing world" falls short. sometimes at least.
IMO I have become surprised about myself. I am being more of a completionist. the hardest content besides ascalon catacombs have been the jumping puzzles. the one in lions arch took me one and a half hour. the part in complete darkness was insane. I had to use the highlight from my bladestorm to find the pillars. jesus.
I find great satisfaction in doing 100% in zones. i got 100% in LA, Divinitys reach, queensdale, norn starting zone. Some zones are bugged. there is a PoI in kessex hills it wont give to me.
the rewards are great to. as are the daily achievement rewards. The game rewards me a lot. I like it. the daily kill variety is great. it even counts lvl 1 critters.
Yeah don't go into GiantBomb expecting MMOs being loved. Rarely are they enjoyed on that site, much like a lot of other stuff.

That's the sad thing about GB. They have huge blind spots in their coverage.
I have the feeling they entice users to the site because of how "cool" they think they are.
Trading post goes up, I put some items for sale ALL my items I put up disappear and don't show up either under "items i'm selling" or "items i've sold" and I have nothing to pick up for profits. FUN TIMES.
So many of you may remember that long ago I had made a post on how to configure your setup to play Guild Wars 2 with a gamepad. WeltallZero approached me about improving on and refining this project. After many revisions and an enormous amount of work on his part (including many hours of headstart, thank you buddy!), we have arrived at a solution that is very simple for anyone to set up, very efficient and natural, and incorporates a TON of crucial functions (including some that aren't even bound in-game by default).
We call it: The Ultimate Configuration
(Click on the Google Docs link, then go to File->Download. Personally I just saved any extracted it in my GW2 folder.)
The underlying magic can work with any controller but our profile assumes you're using a 360 controller; I'm not sure how it reacts to others yet. Weltall has included detailed, easy-to-follow instructions and I HIGHLY suggest you read through them, but for those who want the quick and dirty "make it work!" version:
-Extract the zip.
-If on Win7, right click on Xpadder.exe, go to properties and set it to run in Compatibility Mode for Windows Vista
-Open START.BAT. This opens Xpadder and the AutoHotKey script that makes all this work. If your gamepad is on, but XPadder doesn't show a large Xbox360 gamepad image, you may have to manually select the Gamepad profile. Just click the top leftmost tiny icon that looks like a gamepad, select "Open", then select the file "Xbox 360 Controller.xpaddercontroller".
-Make the following keybinds in GW2:
-Turn double-tap to dodge off. You most likely want to turn auto-loot on as well.
-The default Camera Rotation Speed in GW2 is very low. Raise it in the options a bit (to roughly halfway up the slider). You can always adjust this to your preference.
And you're done, configuration complete. From here on out it's a pretty darn seamless experience. Here's the layout:

It looks complicated of course, but in all honestly, the core functions are all very simple. The really important things are:
-Hold Back to get your mouse cursor, RB to Left Click and RT to Right Click
-RB is used to access many secondary functions, i.e., X is Skill 1, but RB + X is Utility Skill 1 (7 key)
Many of my original bindings remain, and a bunch of stuff I didn't even try to map is included. Some of the mapping decisions might seem weird to you but this has honestly been playtested by us to hell and back and it's really quite something. If you've been using a gamepad before now, making the switch over can take a little getting used to (especially just relying on the back button for all cursor-duties), but it's so worth it. If you're just trying out using a controller for the first time, there's no better time!
The real magic here is a solution Weltall implemented in the script to reset your mouse pointer to a fixed positon anytime you move the camera, press or release back, etc. This translates to a vast improvement in AoE skill usability, as they'll always be aimable from a fixed position. It takes a little getting used to but it feels incredibly natural.
If you're playing in windowed mode or fullscreen windowed mode, he even added an overlaid cursor to help with aiming. Tragically we can't find a workaround yet to get this to appear in fullscreen, but even without it you can get used to aiming pretty quickly.
To return to normal windows operation just click R3 when you're done playing (or hit F7).
Please give it a shot and post your thoughts and impressions! Xpadder's GUI is actually pretty intuitive, so feel free to make your own tweaks and modifications and share them. Weltall and I will probably continue making "official" releases with small tweaks and fixes for a while, and the link in this post will go to the updated version.
Can you get minis in other ways besides buying them with gems?
I got the guild invite, but I couldn't join. I was clicking on "join" but nothing happened.
Uhhh dunno what to tell you on that, I just tried it myself and had no issues!Google docs File-Download doesn't work...
i should have started in defense. i feel squishy. when you buy the next manual at lvl 40 from your trainer you get to relocate all your points. if you wanna melee get the defense up to start with. i used rifle way to much.
Black market Chests I believe.... not sure.
