I'm down, if you are cool with doing low-level ones. If you're higher up it's no biggy. It's the weekend and I have no drinking buddies so I'll be on a lot ;)

Of course not. >:|

I only meant that it's hard enough to find a GAF group that wants to play HotW and CoE after the daily reset, which is basically the only time I can play because I typically get home from work late. Everybody's either doing daily world events, WvW, or SAB. Throw in a shiny new dungeon, and it's going to be even harder.

Try whispering me in game if you need more people. Sometimes I don't follow the guild chat because I'm distracted by playing, but I'll notice whispers.

I have no AR yet, so I'm sticking with level 18 fractal for now. Doubt I could go any farther without having difficulty. I'm actually at reward level 11, trying to go higher up.

Tempted to start a new warrior build, but I also really want to max my Sylvari ranger. The choices in life.....

Chap is at it again on the official forums!

In reply to a player stating that PvE and WvW use the same skill values..

Jonathan Sharp said:
We’re starting to split PvE/WvW in the upcoming patch.

But we want them to be things that keep consistency across the game types as much as possible.

There was also a statement made by Devon Carver saying that they want to bring Orbs back to WvW in some manner but they don't know exactly how they're going to do it just yet. Seems like it's still a good long ways away.

Quick question about guesting- I'm on dragonbrand and just hit lvl 80 so I think I'm ready to start doing some gaf guild stuff, do all my waypoints carryover if I guest on sbi?

Had enough karma to get all but 1 piece of an exotic armor set for my condition necromancer. Very happy with the payoff - worth my time to finish out the story missions? Think I'm at lvl 60 on that but it's just so bad...

Is it wrong of me to hope we get it again so I can have a crack at it?

I definitely feel like I could get it now that I know the layout of the whole course. But you definitely need escorts, especially if the game screws with you by putting a Veteran Karka right in your path.

Everything carries over to Stormbluff, waypoints and all. The only thing you can't do during guesting is WvW, otherwise it's like every other MMO where you can transfer your characters... but without having to pay $25 for it.

As for Personal Story... I did it just to get it over with (it's not very well written, honestly) and get it out of my Event Tracker.

Not only that, but there were also to DEs going on; one Drake Broodmother (I think she was a champion too) and one with Golem Parts that had these insanely fast wurms that burrow straight to you. Nobody was escorting because of the little burrow section that teleports you across the island, so it was definitely a pain in the ass. Even a spot or two where you could fall in and not be able to jump out.

+ this is really a social game. Playing by yourself just isn't that much fun and that's all you do in personal story.

On top of that the skills they gave you as a crab were not good at all. A speed boost that gives you 3 seconds of speed but stops you for 3 seconds and a block that doesn't let you move.

Though now that I think about it, that block was suppose to be used for the mini face crabs. Duhh!

Yeah, I would have been perfectly fine if the Personal Story stopped around the point you picked an Order to join, at which point it was treated like the Living Story. I like the idea that my character has a distinctive background, and you get to sort of see their humble beginnings and such, but once the storylines all merge into the Pact arc, it gets old really quick... mostly because of Trahearne...

And that's really the point of the Living Story, I think; to have a more linear narrative structure with familiar characters to tell the overall plot of the game world, but in a way that everyone can participate in, rather than being closed off for each individual. Yeah, there are still story instances for specific 'episodes', but for the most part the refugees / invasions / listening posts are all out in the world and give you a sort of 'story vibe'.

It's a bit like Dark Souls; they're trying to tell the story through what you are seeing and doing rather than big chunks of exposition. DS has a great story, but it's buried in item descriptions and such so you sort of piece it together as you go.

Also, there's one section of the Karka Rush where the only way in to a cave is completely blocked by traps. The only times I actually managed to survive was if someone went through it first and took the hit. I felt awful, but sometimes sacrifices have to be made for me to get my commendations.

You can still dodge in crab form, that's how I was getting past them.

Yea you have to use the dodge to get through traps. That along with using the 3 skill for the karka when they attacked and it wasn't impossible just hard. With another minute I would have had it most likely.

Sorry for the crappy quality, my pc isn't that great but nonetheless I came across these players so have you guys ever encountered these guys? Warldwide suddenly talked to me and asked me what I was doing since I just stopped in front of him and never moved.

I came across that guy at an event in Gendarran Fields, the attack the rock dogs until they rebel event. He was standing outside the pen shooting through the wall while I was trying to deal with the increased difficulty all his characters were causing. I ended up pulling all the mobs to him to have him help out and he got pissed at me and accused me of trying to train him and kill him.

He made some snarky comment to me about it too, something like "What, did you think I couldn't handle it?"

The Crab Scuttle was definitely the toughest we've faced so far. When it's your first time learning a new route, it can get very frustrating since you're trying to both navigate the traps and discover a new path simultaneously. Here are some general tips to help out.

  • Take your time. It's called a rush, but until you know the route well, there's no downside to taking it slow, waiting for your sonar to recharge, and making sure you're ready before heading through a difficult section. As long as you're not under attack by something or inside a trap, you can wait as long as you like to go on. In some rushes, this allows you to let all your cooldowns refresh, or even heal completely.
  • Watch your mini-map. Your minimap shows you the next checkpoint as a blue flag icon. The finish is an orange flag. Paying attention to this is critical when learning the path.
  • If you're not trying to be first, wait for others and advance together. Rolling in a group of wolves or chickens or crabs is preferable because the multiple targets will distract mobs, some abilities grant AOE benefits, and sprung traps like spikes will only fire and hit one player before going inactive. Moving this way will make it easier on you.
  • Dodge. Watch your endurance. As a critter, dodging is invincibility + a pretty nice speed boost. It can get you through seemingly impossible situations.
  • Read your abilities before starting out on the course. Some of them are really bizarre, but they're perfectly suited to the course you're on. The Crab Block might seem useless at first because it locks you in place- but both the kamikaze hatchlings and the Pew-Pew-Pew of young karka can be completely ignored. The Wolf Leap breaks stun, which can turn being knocked down by falling rocks from instant death into a minor slowdown.
  • The more people that finish, the easier it becomes for the remainder. Those who have completed the Rush can go back, kill stuff, and show people the correct way. It gets easier the more people who have completed it- so in general, don't stress about the clock.

So I'm thinking about holding a GW2 event (real life) in the eastern US during the summer. Basically, a weekend of awesome fun, sponsored by ArenaNet and other sponsors, lots of cool games, fun, and of course GW2!

I like that, Use other players to spring the traps for your benefit. Hawk believes in the survival of the fittest in guild rushes haha.

BTW, Guild Missions beginning in a little over one hour!

Please come participate today! We really need our T3 Bounty Merits. Plus who doesn't want revenge on some of those assholes.

Is there anything in this game similar to the story missions from guild wars 1 where everyone grouped up to progress? Because I enjoyed those a lot more than I enjoy the personal story.

Please come online for a T3 Bounty if you're reading this! :D We could use... 4 or so peeps! :)

The personal story missions can be done with a group, but there's nothing like the "everyone gets the same story" except for the Dungeons, which are content for a full group of 5.

There are also some very cool group events in the open world, like the Flame Temple Tombs.

well you could join up with other people in their personal story. Dungeon story/explorable need a team of 5 so there is that, and the Living Story instances can be accomplished in a group. If there are others, I don't remember.

The cost of (Tier 3) victory:

;_;

I only had about 45 silver on me, most of it went on waypointing around to be honest, I've never seen that before.

It's very frustrating to fail the T3 bounties lately, but things will turn up. Personally, I'm making a commitment to be more knowledgeable about the fights and maybe look at my build again, because I'm pretty sure I contributed to our lack of success with the Half-Baked Komali. It's a learning experience - I haven't been present for his kills very often.

We can own these if we just try!

That said, a few suggestions:

- Our current strategy is good, but I'd say each group needs to communicate among themselves to cover more of the map. No need to overlap each others' search area and keep running near each oher - if we spread out to cover more area it will help.

- Communication is vital - even if all you do is listen, being on Mumble is so important.

I'd add that it's always best to run opposite the direction the target is running. With 5 people spread throughout the map and everyone running against the grain so-to-speak, it should be faster to find them.
