Hahaha man we got like exactly the same information (or lack thereof) out of that fight Retro.

I've actually been wondering if there's something major that other groups have overlooked. Like, we know Bwikki is immune to any damage if you're chilled; maybe Komali is immune to damage if you aren't burning? And simply having so many people with burn status was enough to destroy his shield.

It just seemed like the "known strategy" stopped working when they added the new Bounties, which means either it was broken before, or it's broken after, and the strategy needs to change. Keep trying the same thing that doesn't works is the definition of insanity, and it was insanely frustrating to keep losing because of him.

No problemo, it'll definitely be clearer in practice.

edit: I'm loath to call the 2-MULT strategy zerging. With Komali that term was hella accurate on Saturday. With 2-Mult it's "the more people that know what to do the better," anyone not knowing what to do = rapidly impossible :p

It's an MMO man. Everything is zerging. Everything is grind. Everything is everything! (No Placebo)

Definitely seemed like he became intensely tougher to regularly defeat upon that patch, coincidence or not.

The craziest thing about his shield isn't the damage reduction or even the insane might stacks and stability.. it's that he can't have ANY conditions applied to him. Not no condition damage, no conditions. No vulnerability to make the raw damage output a little better, no weakness to slightly cut down the impact of his blows, no chill to extend the periods between his skill usage... nada. When we got him out of the shield with our zerg it was like immediately hitting him with a metric fuckton of conditions, and all the scaling in the world couldn't save him at that point. But NO clue how we did it.

edit: hahaha... everything is everything!

It's Komali that screws us, and he shows up every time.
We actually got very lucky with our last T3 and did not roll Komali, Sotzz, 2-MULT, or Prisoner this past Saturday.

I personally like the pre-scouting method because a) it's the only strategy I've seen work with T3 and b) I'm doing something while waiting for others to join the mission.

The first two T3s heavily involved pre-scouting and didn't even require instruction from officers; I think each of us were thinking the exact same thing: Oh shit we have to defeat six of them now, better scout them out first. I remember hearing on Mumble a few people stating which area they were scouting a half hour before official start time. We took the initiative.

The ones that do not need or cannot be scouted IMO are Poobadoo/Trilla (really short paths) and Sotzz/Mayani (disappear after a short while if not activated soon enough). Moreover, both Poobadoo and Trilla can be easily defeated, which makes the manpower to pre-scout them less valuable.

I think by now, some guild members have become more "specialized" in looking for certain targets. I now have my own strategy for Mayani that starts at the NW waypoint then work my way toward the middle, where there are 5 suspicious trees all clumped together. That has helped me find her twice now in hunts. For the Diplomat in Brisban Wildlands I have memorized his northwestern path. But I have never, ever even seen a single suspicious barrel in Gendarran Fields, much less find that guy. We probably have a few specialists for Sotzz and maybe other targets in our guild by now, too.

No one's gonna wanna do a t3 tomorrow, Guild Missions? Old hat! New shiny shit oh baby new dungeon!
Agreed, tomorrow's all about the new dungeon, a dungeon that Anet claims will take longer to complete than a typical GAF Arah 3 run.

The Moto dude is staying there for a week or 2 even though SAB will be gone.

You'll have time to pick up your skins with baubbles/baubles/bubbles(?).

That's cool. If it wasn't for the 5G fee I'd just get them all. At this point I think my subconscious is having me save my gold for a Legendary even though I don't see myself trying to get it. Who knows though? Over time I'll just naturally clear more and more pre-reqs and if they make the pre-cursor more reasonable to get as has been mentioned on this board, might as well.

I had a moment yesterday where I realized if I could get the Anomaly focus, I can't use a transmutation crystal to just get the skin without changing the name of my current focus :( I want the look of Anomaly real bad but how cool is it to have a weapon/equipment that you use all the time with your own name? I can't forsake my focus... I can't.

On a happier note, I finally did something outside of SAB and for the first time I noticed my clones after obtaining the full CoF armor set. So cool! Granted they don't have the particle effects that are the primary reason I like the armor but the helmet still looks bad ass. The armor looks hardcore so having a few of those guys out makes me feel powerful even though it doesn't affect their strength at all haha

Hey all just popped in to say a couple things. While I normally play Diablo 3, I got tricked(knowingly) into buying Guild Wars 2 over this past weekend. I know hardly a damn thing about the game, and I only have one class to level 10, but playing with a couple friends over the weekend has me set on saying this is probably the -- in my personal opinion -- best MMO I have ever played. A bold statement I'm aware, but it is how I feel. I just wanted to share how much I've been enjoying the game. That's all!

I'm glad you're having a fun time! If you're interested in the GAFGuild, post a character name and we'll get you in. It's newbie-friendly and obligation-free.

I was also "tricked" into playing GW2. I had pretty much convinced myself I was totally done with MMOs and I just grew out of the genre.

For months, Retro kept trying to tell me about this new game coming out that was going to be completely awesome. I kept putting him off, saying that's interesting, I didn't like GW1 but maybe I'll play a character on your account, whatever. Then he makes me watch the ArenaNet MMO manifesto video and my interest was piqued.

Been having fun ever since it came out.

Glad you're enjoying it! If you like it now than boy will you love it once you've really sunk your teeth in. The game will only get better as you unlock more skills and traits (you'll get access to traits at lvl 11) and start playing a build that works for you. So many viable builds so it's really just about what is the most fun to you.

You are not alone. If you really feel that way at level 10 you have quite a lot of joy awaiting you. My first character really clicked with me in the late 20s.

Happen to be interested in joining our ragtag guild? :D

I guess it doesn't mean much to say this game is my favorite MMO since it's the only one I've ever played (unless you count GW1 which I don't). Does it count that it's the only one I've ever felt compelled to play? haha I saw plenty of WoW played by friends/co-workers but it never appealed to me.

That is really awesome to hear. I also just love how it seems like there's no real cookie-cutter, non-viable archetypes to classes. It's more of a play what's fun and effective approach. So, so awesome.

On another note, I'd certainly love to join the GAF guild, but I'm not playing on the same server. My friends and I ended up on Blackgate due to miscommunication with another friend, who ended up not mattering since they don't play GW2 hardly ever. I don't know much about how servers work. It seems like I can only play on one server at a time? Maybe I can convince my friends to reroll onto the GAF server, and I know they're loving this game as much as I am.

You'll be able to guest to the GAF server for PVE and Dungeons, you just won't be able to play WvW with the guild.

Edit: You don't actually have to guest to play dungeons with people from other servers, just meant you can still play with people who aren't on yours. PVE you'd have to swing over as a guest to run around with guild members from another server though.

It barely matters. Since you're on an NA server, you can guest onto Stormbluff Isle any time you want to participate in guild missions, do world events with us, etc., and for instances you don't even have to guest. The only thing you guys wouldn't be able to do with us is WvW. Literally everything else in the game is cross-server.

What's that? This news is incredibly fucking awesome? Yes. Yes it is.

edit:
One year ago today we were bringing the first Guild Wars 2 Beta Weekend Event to a close.

Were you there? What was the best part of that weekend for you? ~RB2

And I can be in the guild even if I'm not on that server? Or is that just insane? Is this insane? What game am I playing?! Why is it so accessible?!! Ahhh! So good!

You can be on any server and join, and guest over to SBI if you wanna group and stuff.
And for dungeons and the like (instanced content), you don't even need to do that.

Explaining this to someone new is reminding me just how fucking good it is. We come to take this stuff for granted so easily.

It is now 3 gold, 3 silver for 100 gems...its just going to go higher tommorrow, isnt it?

Also, I just leveled up my Mesmer to 80, I'm kinda just wearing whatever L80 equipment I find and traited all over the place.
What would you guys suggest?

Played a few matches as a sword/dagger thief in SPvP. Stuff is pretty amazing so I expect the changes to be pretty significant when they happen. I might just be able to use the same build for roaming in WvW but I'm not sure yet since they're two completely different beasts.

Do we know anything about it?

All I heard is that they apparently said that there WILL be new races but no foreseeable new professions.

(Hoping for Kodan!)

They're not currently working on an expansion in any way, shape, or form. We know nothing about it as they know nothing about it. Their intentions are to just keep pumping out monthly updates for free until they feel they need to make an expansion.

I know they're not working on one as of now but I coulda sworn I read an interview saying basically "Yes to races, no to professions".

Ehh, so be it.

And in other news, my character's now poor again after playing the Unidentified Dye lotto :D ... :[
(And my bank's full of dyes I'm saving for my future mesmer ... along with one of my ele's bags)

Sounds like they're adding a new stat distribution, "Sentinel's", which is primary Vitality with minor Power and Toughness. A new material in the Molten Alliance dungeon ("Azurite") will probably allow crafters to produce those items.

Yep I finally got my engagement ring back from resizing today. I'm so happy

Oh and patch tomorrow!

I didn't have an Engagment ring but I need to resize my wedding ring because it is too loose. I lost a bit of weight from when I order ring and the wedding. Almost lost it in the sea during honeymoon.

I wonder if patch will release early today like it did last patch.
