Perhaps allowing you to "bundle" your hard earned MF into a "Charm" that you can place into your MF slot or something. Man this is tough to figure out.

Or they could just disable mf all together in dungeons/fractals. Maybe up the drop rates a bit there to compensate.

New clothes, dancing book and a baby lion cubface mini in the shop. The dancing book gives you an elite skill to spread the groove apparently.

You're the first legit name on the list, which means you should be the winner of Arken's insta-transfer (he ordered the card, as soon as he gets the code he should be able to give it to you) Just remember to post your character and account name on that thread!

Huh, that was quick!

I think we should do a guild event where we do all the meta events that no one usually does and the dragons to see if they feel more epic with everyone visible.

Great idea. Thursday the 16th, we'll do an Omega Event Train where we hit all the big ones to see the impact of the culling fixes, and the more obscure ones in between. Keep your inventories clear!

The WvW additions sound exquisite. Bring on the anti-stealth traps, we can take it >:O

Man, it's gonna feel weird seeing tons of people in Southsun Cove...

Did that page just go down? Edit: Nvm, my work vpn was blocking it.

Thursday evening sounds like a good idea because that weekend I'll be away at the cottage won't get to play as much since I'll only have a 3g connection but I will try nonetheless.

I edited in a link to the thread for it on GAFGuild.

Maybe we can collect whoever is left afterward and take our talents to Southsun for some crab toss.

They're in the middle of redoing the releases page it seems. The nifty slider effect for the release page buttons is gone and it can only display two at a time now (it must have been getting unwieldy to continue extending). Weirdly, the "view all releases" button (i.e.: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases) just takes you to the Feb. release page.

Yes I noticed that too. I ended up just click previous until I reached October 2012 and I thought to myself, wow there has been so much content added to Guild Wars 2 it is kinda of insane that it is all free.

I guess it isn't ready to go up yet because all the images still say "Molten Bosses" if you hover your mouse over them.

Check that out if you want some back story on how Rox lost her warband.

In all seriousness, I'm pretty excited for this arc. I've been waiting to see good stuff out of southsun for a while.

Also, isn't crab toss basically the Karka Guild Challenge?

Hawkian

The Cryptarch's Bane
Sounds like it basically is the crab tossing from the guild challenge with some kind of scoring mechanic added and hopefully teams?

Also, unrelated: Everytime I see other people complaining about new guild mission stuff, in my head I'm thinking "You ain't gotta like it, cuz the Guild gone love it..."

Thanks GTAV for putting that song back in my head.

Wow, nice hack Hawkian.

That page looks really cool. I wonder if every time a new update releases we will automatically know what the next one will be coming up.
Definitely seems like that's what they're going for with that kind of coming soon placard.

August 28th launch...

Interesting stuff as always.

How many days left is the Molten Facility up? We should definitely try a guild race of it, well, at least if there is interest. Before it goes away. I was thinking maybe on Saturday when we would normally do T3 since we don't need to, right?

That is a good idea and I want to be on your team.

Totally down for a MF Guild Race.

Also, side note: why is the word "Chie" censored by Anet? My friends and I were discussing persona, and one of them still had the language filter on and it kept filtering "Chie".

Dang it Anet, do you just hate persona or something?

Get More Out of WvW
We’re improving the way we award World XP to World vs. World players! Now you’ll gain rewards for a much wider range of activities in the Mists – everything from destroying siege weapons, repairing walls, escort missions, and more.

The End of Culling
We wiped out culling in World vs. World, and now we’re doing the same in the Living World. By removing the limit on the number of characters you can see, we’re increasing the epic feel of exploring through a fully-populated world.
Quick follow up note, sorry about this one folks. Both of the release notes above are still in testing and are NOT including in the May 14th release. Consider this a spoiler for things that are coming soon as they are ready and signed off on.

However, one release highlight wasn’t listed that should be, so bonus info for you to make up for the wrong notes going out → In WvW the jumping puzzle in Eternal Battlegrounds will be split out into its own map, so those folks who wish to play there aren’t counting against the population cap for EB. This means more people can play in the EB jumping puzzle, and more people can play in EB as well with the populations separated.

We’re working out the kinks of doing a more frequent update, sorry again about the confusion! (source)

So PVE culling won't be out this patch, but it's coming soon.

Hawkian

The Cryptarch's Bane
That works, Molten Weapons Facility Race this Saturday afternoon.

Once the last team is done with the race, we'll hopefully have enough influence to speed up the unlock and have our very first Guild Puzzle! We'll of course be doing another (along with the typical commendation missions) later that night.

edit: Awwww, pity the jumped the gun on those updates. One assumes they'll be in the next one if they're that close to done.

I'll reschedule our big event train to see the new culling fixes once we have an announcement on when that one is coming.

Hmm....considering the turnaround time of two weeks from the last patch and this specifically being labeled as May 14th versus just MAY, I wonder if ANet is now moving towards updates every two weeks versus once a month? Also, they changed the bar at the top to be more condensed since it seemed to be getting too big. And they changed the release page to fit A LOT more stuff https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/releases/. Hmmm....

Oh ho! Colin even said "We’re working out the kinks of doing a more frequent update, sorry again about the confusion!"

The plot thickens...

Love the new page background, love the new release page layout too, can't wait to see what kind of mini-game Crab Toss is, Traps in WvW seem like a very interesting way to potentially hurt zerging, and I'm wondering how much Living Story will be in this patch right out the gate? I'm guessing the March patch is the baseline they wanted to start with but couldn't so maybe a story instance or two, some new events, and some new props around the zone?

Also, what happened to the "changing" Molten Facility dungeon?

I thought it was supposed to be changing at least slightly. Did this just not pan out for them? Ever since they talked about it at the start, they've been mum on it.

The Cryptarch's Bane
So coy, Jira.

Ahhh so that's why Rox is all "I wouldn't wish mining on anybody" when they see the prisoners in the facility. Dang.

er, I guess it's Braham who says that just cause he's all Norn and needs the outdoors, but it gives weight to Rox's "Me, either"

edit: caught this too "Me? I'll be over there, by the door. Let's just say, explosives and me - we don't get along."

I want a Mass Teleport trap that teleports anyone within the trap's large radius back to the nearest, uncontested waypoint within the map. But it only triggers if a set number of people are in the trap's radius at once; a couple people moving through won't notice, but if a zerg stomps through it... POOF.

Hey folks,

It seems we inadvertently outed (some of) our plans for WvW with the above linked page. While we are looking to extend World XP changes for WvW in a later content patch, it still needs some tweaking and therefore isn’t ready to be introduced in this one.

We can however officially let you know we are moving the jumping puzzle for EB into it’s own map, as this has been a much requested feature for our beloved siege fairing community.

Apologies for the hicup

https://forum-en.guildwars2.com/forum/pvp/wuvwuv/Tier-1-EU-needs-assistance-ArenaNet/1972881

We are trying to do some things to make the matchups move around more and should have more detailed information in the near future. However, one thing to remember is that if there is one server that is defeating everyone so handily, changing the matchup is just going to let that server beat up on different people. Which is probably better, so long as those people don’t get stuck there too. Regardless, we know this is a problem and we are working on it.

That's a neat idea.

Traps that only trigger if a certain number of people enter the radius. Really great way to punish and hopefully split up some of the massive zergs.

Love the new wallpaper. And it even looks like we'll get some new PvE content; I would assume its part of the Living Story. Bi-monthly releases will be awesome if they can keep it up. Still can't believe how fast they release this stuff.

I had never been to the first OT for this game, went back and scrolled through a bit.

"There's not enough content! Where's the raids!"

Heh, not enough content.

Oh man, when it was in the Gaming side and not nestled in the community section? Horrible drive-by trolling, and because Tekno was more than happy to engage in it himself, it had Moderator Approval to boot. Combine that with most of the regular folks actually playing? Yeah, it got bad quick. I should skim through it, if only to see how wrong people are, but I think it'd be rage inducing... that, and I'm still too busy actually playing.

I kinda miss Tekno. I wonder if he still plays.

What I love about the early pages of the first thread is how much misunderstanding there is about the combat. There was a sort of wide consensus about both Mesmers and melee damage in general just sucking across the board... who believes either of those things now? :p

To be fair the combat system takes a bit of getting used to and first impressions don't always match up with the reality of how it works. I hated the game when I first played it because I didn't understand it (and my first class was Ele) :p

Oh, totally. Just to give a personal example, even though I learned the conditions well, I didn't understand or pay attention to what any of the boons did until I had my first character at 80. I totally ignored any traits that mentioned them because I didn't understand how they worked, and it was overwhelming how many options I missed out on when I finally started crafting my actual endgame builds.

I'm referring more to the people who weren't just misunderstanding the combat, but operating on the assumption that they were understanding it and it was horrible. The fact that Mesmer clones/phantasms are tied to a single target was brought up multiple times as a horrible mechanic that would need to be completely scrapped, but it's not even in the top 50 things people discuss about the class now and in hindsight, it makes a lot of sense.
But it is safer to not be in melee! :p
Pfft, you're a bit tall, you can see your enemies from anywhere. No excuses!

More seriously, a lot of the complaints centered around the idea that ranged damage was "just as good" as melee damage with no risk and that everyone would end up going 100% ranged damage. Obviously that isn't the case, as melee damage actually produces vastly superior damage and is frequently worth the risk of taking more hits; it just has to be balanced with positioning, well-timed dodges and a hit-and-run approach for some classes.

'Inspector Ellen Kiel is a high ranking member of the Lionguard and is working with Head Researcher Levvi to research the karka in the camp at Canach's Folly.

She was introduced during the Lost Shores meta event and sent players on a scavenger hunt to determine who instigated the karka invasion. She then led players during the invasion of Lion's Arch to destroy the Ancient Karka."

Ellen Kiel: Even though the ancient karka is gone and we have things under control, I'm still not sure that letting the tourists in was the right decision.

-> What happened to the guy who provoked the karka in the first place?

Ellen Kiel: Canach came clean, but escaped during the confusion. The Consortium's lawyers are dragging things out, so he could get off lightly...unless I find him first."

Hmmmm....

Before the event, Consortium motives:

Inspector Ellen Kiel: We think whatever Canach's crew did on that island provoked the karka. They struck back at the nearest possible target: us.
Magnus the Bloody-Handed: You lost a ship and its entire crew weeks ago? And you're just telling us about it now? Your little secret put the entire city at risk.
Subdirector Noll: If I may, Captain: Canach works for the Consortium, not the city. He is contractually bound by our most comprehensive nondisclosure agreement.
Subdirector Noll: The Consortium has to protect its investments at every stage of development. It's a matter of commerce, I'm sure you understand.

Bolded parts. Southsun is still technically "in development", and the fact there weren't many people on the island concerned the Consortium. Could they have been the ones behind the Molten Alliance just for an end-game of extra bodies on Southsun to help them finish their investment? I'd like to also mention that Subdirector Noll is there at Southsun right now, monitoring the development of the new town.

Holy shit. I just had a crazy ass thought.

If it really is the Consortium, they've most likely had even earlier plans than this.

What if they orchestrated the attack of the karka on Lion's Arch purposefully to have the Lionguard help clear out the island for free?

Case in point:

Advisor Okk: I'd like to reiterate that the Lionguard has no ownership claim, and therefore no authority, on this beach or the greater island.
Deputy Foedaunt: Shut your face, flunky. Lion's Arch is in danger, and we're the Lionguard. That's all the authority we need.
Inspector Ellen Kiel: He's right, until this urgent threat has been dealt with, this is a Lionguard operation.
Advisor Okk: That is acceptable...to a point. The Consortium is of course grateful for your assistance during this...unique situation.

I am the lorenerding out over this shit.

Ellen Kiel in the wallpaper is wearing blue and yellow, the Consortium's official colors. It's possible she's going undercover into the organization at large (with us in tow). I'm excited to learn more.

So I was looking at my characters today and I realized that despite having my best reserved name and a melee class, my Norn Guardian is collecting dust. Level 12, only a few weapons leveled, no personal story progress at all.

It's not the profession so much as the race and visuals; I can't get past the slow, plodding animation of the Norn, even though my guardian is female and as short as I can possibly make her. This was especially noticeable running her through the Super Adventure Box, because everyone was scaled to Asura height, her animations actually felt right. She felt quick and fluid. Dinking around on her today, I don't think Norn are for me. Which is fine, because I already didn't care for the VA or their storylines that much either.

So I tried out a Human Guardian and was surprised to find that the dealbreaker that kept me from rolling that combo previously is mysteriously gone. When wielding a greatsword, human females would make this high pitched "YIP!" noise. After a few levels of playing, it appears to be gone!

So now I'm wondering... do I give my warrior a sex change and reroll my Guardian as a human male (visually identical to my warrior now), or do I keep my Warrior and just roll a female human Guardian? The Warrior is definitely still my main, with all of the good bags / dyes / tools and unlocks. Everyone seems to recognize that name even though I've never really cared for it.

Decisions...

But it is safer to not be in melee! :p

Yeah, for the other guys.
