It's been a while. Soon we'll be counting down to the 12 month milestone.
For the hell of it, reposting Hawkian's "lazy assholes" image with the new update:
Just think, with the Dragon Bash datamined, we might have three updates in June.

Sorry, how do you know that?Already know Winter's day and Halloween events are repeats, just hope they aren't giving us all these events just to turn around and repeat them next year like they did in GW1..

Buffs for Magic Find, Influence gain, Reduced Repair cost, Reduced Waypoint cost, +5 Supply in WvW, and potentially more are being enabled on a staggered weekly schedule.
One final note: culling of the guild roster will be taking place on Saturday, June 1st (two weeks from today). Just log in at some point before then.
When(Kodin mentioned in chat a new World Event....hmmmmmmmmmm)
Lo and behold, raw horizontal progression added to the game via Ascended gear, the dreaded source of pure vertical progression. How sudden and unplanned!WvW Infusions. Not my cup of tea but it's cool people will be able to really choose what infusions they want depending on what they do most.
More stuff for Crab Toss is more stuff for me. Need like 5 more steals for Crabgrabber. And some Southsun Trinkets...hard to get too excited about those since they aren't cosmetic but maybe they will be cool collectibles.
BrilliantAnd every time you gain a new World rank, you’ll earn a bonus chest packed with useful WvW loot!

yes that is clearly itHe said it's really awesome, starts week 4 of this storyline, is permanent and will require serious guild coordination and has the best loot chest in the game. So first week of June then? Goes in line with the "And beginning June 5, a hulking monstrosity joins the fray—without your help, it will destroy the settlers and everything they’ve built!"
don't be fucking with me
I will abandon this guild!
yes that is clearly it
all of that stuff you said is real stuff he said?
Anyone else notice that Canach is wearing the fused gauntlets in both the artwork and the screenshot? Connections ahoy!

There will be a system for rewarding players who have already gained ranks. The way it will work is you will have a backlog of 60 chests, if you were at rank 61, and for each rank you achieve after that you will get 2 chests, instead of 1, until youve received all 60 of your backlog. These bonus chests should be available for every player who has gained rank prior to the build.
So... there's a solo mission that unlocks a group mission?
Or do you have to beat the solo mission to gain "invitation" to the group mission. I'm interested to see how this works.
Yes, ask Ash or Retro or anyone else who was on.
...I can vouch for that as well. Also I won't be able to join wvw tonight. Gotta wake up at 5:30am to make to job orientation on time lol
Hawkian in game a bunch of times said:Southsun is dying for a Meta event now
Actually, I think if they really wanted to be clever about it, there won't be one during the length of this story arc (however long it is), but then a new permanent one will be there once it ends. They know that people will flock to the zone to do the new temporary content, and a new Bonus event would be a great way to keep people coming back.
brb buying gemsHawkian on Reddit said:What would keep people coming back to Southsun after the storyline leaves would be continually rewarding events; specifically, at least one big world Meta Event with a Bonus chest. If one is not added to Southsun by the time this is all over, it will be a huge misstep on their part.
Shit, great catch. So glad they aren't wholly abandoning the Molten Alliance thread. Might be our silver-tongued friend from the city...Anyone else notice that Canach is wearing the fused gauntlets in both the artwork and the screenshot? Connections ahoy!
or die trying!
Also, while this could be simple embellishment on Anet's part, I found it interesting that they noted this on the "monsterous attack" section:
It makes it seem like it's fail-able.
I thought the same thing.
Oh and in regards to the new perma content, during a recent livestream they mentioned that there will be a big event chain you have to do in order to kill the Karka (I assume this is the Queen).
So I think in the Story mode we'll have to kill Subdirector NULL, in Explorable we kill Canach, and the open world meta will be the Karka Queen. Agree or disagree?
Not sure. It mentions that you defeat Canach in the solo quest.I thought the same thing.

Hah!Throw in the meta event and I'm crabbing my sun tan lotion and towel!

Here's my speculative summary of the patch next Tuesday:
Called it.Noll sent NULL to punish Canach but it turns out it was SHODAN who was created by Andrew Ryan after Einstein went back in time to kill Hitler.
Check it
Preview and release header used the same concept art, but cut you off from the reveal:
But if you look at the wallpaper:
Fuck the Gold Legion up their sexist feline asses, but I say when this is all over we hand Canach to the Dredge. They couldn't possibly have known any better and were just looking for some power to follow. As a result they got decimated and gave a bunch of technology to a race that finds them to be deeply inferior. I think they'd be the most appropriate ones to punish him.

That makes sense, although his motivations still aren't clear and who he'd be taking orders from in his exile is confusing. Certainly odd that he'd have the gauntlets either way and I still say we let the Dredge handle him.Following the threads in Southsun, it doesn't sound like Canach is the one who started the Molten Alliance.
It sounds like he's been on southsun for the majority of the time since Lost Shores, and has been trying to free the settlers from the consortium, except through an insane and really unhelpful plan. He honestly sounds like he's being played. I don't see him gaining anything from the Molten Alliance, especially when he's supposedly trying to help the settlers.
Right now, my bets are on someone from the consortium, acting independently of the consortium itself. Rather, he's the one that ordered Canach to the island in the first place, who released the karka. Once this step completed, he went formed the molten alliance as a way of displacing a large group of people. From there, he convinced the Consortium to take in the settlers. He rigged the contracts to keep the settlers on the island and tricked the now renegade Canach into trying to free them by giving him the plants that enraged the karka.
It's someone that's trying to A. Get a bunch of people on southsun and B. Enrage the karka. Perhaps the enraged queen karka is sentient and needs to be fed. Perhaps someone is acting as her avatar. Or perhaps the Karka are actually the servants of the infamous "Bubbles", the underwater dragon... dragons are known for being schemers.
Holy... shit.http://v2.gw2stuff.com/events/stormbluff-isle

ANet posted their API for public use:

Someone noted there are 1,636 Dynamic Events in the game.
This is going to be huge for app development, dragon timers will be accurate down to the second.
Were working on getting over-all game performance with large #s of players/mobs on screen running better first. Some improvements were included in the last release, a number of additional performance improvements will be included in the release next week. Once were up to performance that can handle the transition to include mobs in the more advanced culling system, well pull the switch, hopefully not that far off but I cant give an ETA since were still doing extensive testing on performance.
As a bonus, the perf fixes next week should also help any location with lots of players and very few mobs, hello WvW.
