Apparently the US stream for the show on Youtube (and I think Crunchyroll?) is on a one week delay. While Daisuki gets an exclusive. On the other hand, Asia gets the Youtube stream fine on the same day.

Sorry guys. :(

Funimation and Crunchyroll were announced to be one-week delays, but nothing was said of YouTube. Daisuski is janky as shit, and not the kind of janky I like.

Keep fucking that dog, Sunrise. And you wonder why Gundam can't catch on in North America again...

Seems pretty good. Good action. Good setting. lvl 99 waifu. I actually can't wait for the next episode, unlike G-Reco where I enjoyed the charm of the first episode, but had no desire to continue. It was kinda... exhausting, I guess.

I guess so. I didn't see much difference personally (other than I like one song better than the other). Really just seemed like a standard modern anime OP. I'll most likely skip it every week.

Yeah, really both are trash compared to old-school OPs. You can tell they just don't invest in them like they used to.

So, do we have "Setsuna" and "Graham" clones, now? lol. Non-simp mecha main characters? Oh god yes.

That was... actually a really good episode.
Best premiere episode for a flagship Gundam series in a long while.

Orga is also a pretty cool guy... so... he'll probably die before this is all over D=

Yeah, it'll make Mika break down and then grow. Seems he can't function without the guy and that's an integral part of their relationship.

Only alternative is for Orga to become a villain really. No way something doesn't happen to him to break up his relationship with Mika, given how dependent Mika seems right now

Hulu plus gets it on north America no delay. Week delay for people who dont pay for hulu.

I'll remind you that SEED Destiny had an awesome first episode. Full of incredible action. I was like "I don't get why people hate this series? The action is incredible!" And then, no action for the next 24 episodes...

We got a Relena clone. After he didn't shake her hand, I was praying he'd walk by and say "...I'll kill you."

That is one horrible opening. I'm not a critical guy, either... I do not like the generic animu song, and the non-stop shots of emotionless people standing in boring locales (corn fields... desert wasteland?!) doing absolutely... nothing. You can have characters standing around... but have them doing something interesting or showing some kind of character.

Compare to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS2oabSacls I don't even like the song, and this OP is soooo much better because at least it's trying something

You know I wasn't wild about IBO's OP but after watching the 00 one, thank you for making me realize it could be worse. The IBO OP has some good transitions, shots such as the face of the man in the knife, and a focus on the relationship between Mika and Orga. The Gundam 00 one is just bland as fuck.

SEED Destiny had a very promising start because it looked like they wanted to wretch the status quo and do something interesting with a sequel. But nope. It was just bad ideas and downhill after a few episodes. And with 50 episodes, it was a loooooooong downhill spiral. :(

*deep breath*
I have more faith in Okada than Fukuda.
There I said it.

(Yes I know I'm mixing director and writer here, I still stand by my post)

I really liked that premiere. Well paced, good dialogue, and I like the characters so far. Definitely washed the stink of Reconquista from my memory. I'm definitely gonna follow this every week.

Yeah, I really miss openings like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DlhtVgB7QuY

You do get good ones occasionally these days, but a lot of them don't have the same spark I tend to see in older shows.

JOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOJO

Watched episode 1.
Well, it was not enough to put me off from watching the rest of the series.

lol, I love the song but the animation is so bad imo. It's literally some people looking back over their shoulders like edgelords and some gundams flying around.

That song is so good though that it makes up for it. I've tried finding other good L'arc en Ciel songs but their other stuff seems super boring.

I do agree that IBO's OP seems lame.

I'd love to watch this, but I don't have a paid Hulu account, Youtube is blocked and Daisuki registers my account then says it doesn't recognize my email address. Bleh.

Episode 1

That was really good. It's only a start, but it's a promising way to kick off the show. I think the characters were all pretty well established even with some of them only getting a couple minutes of screen time. I like the relationship between Mika and Orga. That alone makes Mika seem way more interesting than Heero or Sestina (two characters he's clearly very similar to). I think they establish the world very well too. Small things really made it work. You can tell the PMC the heroes work for is poor because they comment on how much money Gjallarhorn is spending shelling them. I think the little stuff like that really helps flesh out the nature of PMC combat on mars.

Only complaint I really have is the dialogue got a bit exposition heavy at times and it wasn't really done all that well. All of a sudden the big earth force is going to have a discussion about the nature of the war 300 years ago. Stuff like that. It's a first episode, so some of that is to be expected, but it could be better.

Overall, I really, really liked it. I hope it holds up, because it could be a fun one if so.

guess ill wait till it comes out on crunchyroll. I was hoping it was gonna be like build fighters and just be on the youtube channel.

Yeah, the English sub on their official YouTube is blocked for me as well. And I live in the US so what gives?

Now you know how people outside of the US feel when we click on Youtube links which are blocked outside of the US because of various licensing contracts!

Seems like Daisuke and Hulu+ have the exclusive on the real simulcast for the US. It's not ideal, but it is what it is. At least we're actually getting a simulcast this time. G-Reco's streaming situation was such a train wreck.

lol Daisuke has the early exclusive rights to arguable the two most potentially big Anime's for this season (OPM and G: IBO)

with the exception of haikyuu

That was pretty decent for a first episode. I like the OP and music so far.

Pffft. You haven't looked hard enough! D:

Are you fucking kidding me THERE IS A CHARACTER NAMED AINA IN THIS YOU ALREADY USED THAT ONE IN 08TH MS TEAM. Now we have Aila, Aida, Aina...and another Aina. Goddammit.

First episode already going hard on the typical "KIDS ROOL ADULTS DROOL" I see a lot of people saying how much better this is then G Reco already but...the first episode jumps around so much to establish 4 different groups and overloaded with terminology. I hope this can at least keep all that on the down low because it's already getting annoying and there's essentially zero chance it will be as bad as G Reco.

The mechanical design I like, though. The mock battle with the paint rounds and the first real fight was good, it has a more down-to-earth battle and war feeling then most Gundam shows. Except the part where no one wears shirts. They must have learned from Black Jack. I do like the groups dynamic, though the princess reminds me of Turn A a lot. I have not even seen Turn A.

It may seem like I don't like it, and right now I don't, really, but it's the first episode and has a lot of room to improve.

Episode 1

Really good first episode, animation quality was quite nice and I'm digging the plot so far. I like relationship between Mika & Orga, definitely want to learn more about their past together. Also this is my first time posting in an Anime OT! Hopefully I'll stick around with you guys to discuss the whole series (unless it turns sour later on lol)!

Yep that was a first episode alright. It hit some of the generic tropes that a gundam show is required to hit on to be recognized as such. Checking them boxes. I bet nothing interesting happens until like episode 3 or 4.

Pretty good.

And it's more homoerotic than SEED. I didn't think it was possible.

Okada saving Gundam from itself.

What poorly designed mechas, required people to be shirtless to pilot them.

There's a certain amount of sense to it. I guess giving them a direct link to the nervous system would allow for quicker reactions. You then have the fact that the PMC's using them right now aren't using them for space combat. Why design a special normal suit with a port if you don't need the protection for a cockpit breach? Especially true if you don't care about the lives of the pilots, so you don't really need to protect them from fire or anything.
