I shouldn't be buying any new kits since I'm moving this month but I couldn't resist picking this one up. The booklet on the right was included with the November issue of the Gundam Ace comic.

More like Gundam X shouldn't have wasted those episodes it did actually have.

It got green lit for 50 episodes, they wrote appropriately for it, and then Bandai tells them to finish it in 13 episodes halfway through the show. They had to condense and cut a lot of things, so I can't really blame the staff.

I'm aware. It's the only Gundam outside the original to get cancelled mid-broadcast.

It still didn't need to be 50 episodes though.

Likely due to daylight savings time. It will be ending on the 1st of November.

And that would totally be it. I always forget when it ends. I'll likely update the OP to reflect that once the first episode airs tomorrow just so I can make 100% sure of the schedule.

Should have went with Gundam Age as that is a great Gundam capturing the best aspect of Gundam, or even Seed/Seed Destiny.

Would say Wing but that is still unable to be watched anywhere.

I don't hate AGE as much as some people, but are you trying to get him to hate the franchise?

Edit: Oh... I just now realized that was a DTL post.

Yooooooooooooooo can't wait for this to start. I'm so hyped, #1 show of the season if you disagree fight me 1v1.

Apparently not available in the US on youtube, grr. I've never used Daisuke, site is kind of buggy but the stream is fine, it doesn't have better than 480p though? Hulu stream isn't up yet but I assume that'll be in HD. Guess I'll lower my standards for now. :P

If you create a (free) account on Daisuki and log into that before playing, the video player will give you playback options up to 1080p.

Episode 1

Pretty great start. Definitely reminds me a lot of the start of 00 in terms of tone, but the characters and setting is pretty different. Some of it is more like Wing, but overall it manages to be its own thing. The characterizations are really on the nose though. The adults are all "bad guys" and written to be cartoonishly abusive and opportunistic, while the child soldiers are brave and talented but being held down unfairly, etc. Hopefully it gets out of that phase when they break out on their own, because it's really tiring watching mecha shows where the adults are all incompetent while the kids are secret geniuses. Valvrave and Aldnoah had enough of that shit. :P

I'm surprised the on-air version had an OP at the end while the streaming versions and the early screening only has the song and rolling credits. That seems to suggest that the OP animation was only completed at the very last minute. Hopefully that isn't indicative of the production schedule for the series at large.... :P

Saw on Hulu.

Fantastic start to Gundam, love how the mechas are powered and even the Gundam I guess so that aspect I was hoping for the show would be a constant and recurring event. Best characters were Takaki (seems to be a new VA) and Mika, And Eugene and Orga.

Liked Danji but it seemed he was clearly going to die, was a bit too reckless and wanting to shine. Orga ought to have listened to Takaki

Raise your flag is such a good song, wow, and catchy, especially the english parts and the chorus.

Gundam IBO-1
Very good start, much better than I was expecting. The cold opening was pretty chilling on multiple levels but it served as a great way to establish the characterization between the two leads. Mikazuki surprised me in his personality as he's much colder and scarier than I expected. I thought he was going to be the naive kid to Orga's experienced one but Mika is closer to something like the muscle for Orga. The scene where Mika put Eugene in his place was surprising, as despite him being younger than many of the other child soldiers there, Mika is somewhat feared and respected. There's a lot of minor scenes dealing with characterization where it shows Mika and Orga have an opinion on something even if they don't outright voice it. I suspect one of the themes of the show is going to be Mika finding his own voice, ala TTGL.

The political aspect is the usual Gundam shit and we're already getting backstabs already. Hopefully that gets fleshed out more but considering Gundam politics has always been bad, I'm not holding out for much more.
The fighting aspect is kinda cool due to the emphasis on grunt movements and tactics. I hope the show keeps that focus on the secondary units although I'm not sure how possible that is with Gjallarhorn probably getting serious soon. I'm also worried that the side characters might get left in the dust if they only have one mobile suit but maybe they recover a couple from the current fighting. The music was every bit as good as I expected thanks to Yokoyama.

Hopefully the production quality stays at this level, despite the many :wonzo shots. However the opening theme being finished yesterday isn't exactly giving me much hope.

Here's the OP which wasn't in the streaming version: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3qT3Nqc_6g

That is one horrible opening. I'm not a critical guy, either... I do not like the generic animu song, and the non-stop shots of emotionless people standing in boring locales (corn fields... desert wasteland?!) doing absolutely... nothing. You can have characters standing around... but have them doing something interesting or showing some kind of character.

Compare to this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SS2oabSacls I don't even like the song, and this OP is soooo much better because at least it's trying something

L'arc en ciel are just better in general, but the OP's direction isn't better or worse than 00's.

I didn't even remember this OP. I just said "This is like 00 kinda, I'll just type in 00 OP 1" and sure enough it did a lot more. We got more Gundam action and more expository foreshadowing... unless those two guys doing nothing in boring places over and over and over again is a theme of the show, I dunno lol

I guess so. I didn't see much difference personally (other than I like one song better than the other). Really just seemed like a standard modern anime OP. I'll most likely skip it every week.

Argh, but it is so much easier to watch on YouTube. Why would they say it is on Gundam.info for NA and then make it not available in the US?

Blocked on Youtube in USA, but watchable via Daisuki.... Uh, why? One more app to clutter up my cell phone.
They set up the backdrop pretty nicely in one episode. Cautiously optimistic.

Apparently the US stream for the show on Youtube (and I think Crunchyroll?) is on a one week delay. While Daisuki gets an exclusive. On the other hand, Asia gets the Youtube stream fine on the same day.

Sorry guys. :(
