Halo 4 Announced (MS Conf, 2012, Start Of New Trilogy)

I'm glad they mentioned it although I'm a bit worried that it's still on 360.

The teaser sent goosebumps down my brain. Oh man.

Maybe the next e3 conference, there will be a change. Xbox 720 announced then and trilogy moved to that console.

Reach and ODST don't count?

Obviously Halo isn't as big of a milkfest as COD, but they certainly aren't really holding their sequels back. Not that I blame them, as it is MS' flagship franchise.
Reach was released 3 years after Halo 3. ODST introduced Firefight, introducing a new mode is not milking.

Could that be the Shield World from Ghosts of Onyx??

So hyped for Halo 4 already. Might have to play through 3 again very soon.
I just hope they keep Armor Lock out of it.

Bro, GTFO with that crap (image and argument). Go to the other thread if you want to troll.
He's not trolling though. He's just stating a fact: MS is milking the franchise.

.. and selling that mode for 40 bucks isn't milking?
New Campaign, Firefight, Halo 3 multiplayer disc with new maps. There.

Seriously. When they announce God of War 4 I can guarantee you won't hear the "milking" outcry as loud as you are for Halo.
Funnily enough God of War has six titles and a "collection" out. In the span of five years.

Keighley" "New engine, obviously."

Frankie: "We're not talking about the engine."

Reach engine, then?

I think that means that they have a marketing campaign which has a specific date where they'll start talking about the engine (likely after E3 2012).

Hopefully the storyline will be a bit more straightforward this time around.

Also I have to laugh at anyone who thinks this franchise has been milked, a game every other year (on average) is not milking.

Yeah, it's not like there was a campaign or new multiplayer maps in there or anything.

Reach engine, then?
Or some reasonable improvement on it.

Are the books actually worth reading?

The Halo series has always had potential for some really cool stories. I hope that they really follow up on that idea and do some cool shit.

Looks good. Brief trailer, but effective. I've always liked the Chief/Cortana relationship.

Might finally be time to buy a 360.

No, pretty much the only thing we do know is that he's not back in the same galaxy as the ark was outside of the range of the halo's.

It might be a Shield world, but It's not the one from Ghosts of Onyx.

He couldn't have just said "yes" and left it at that?

Of course.

If you like Halo then yeah, they're really well done.
The only one I didn't think was great is The Flood, probably because it's the Halo:CE story and I knew what was coming.
Fall of Reach is the best book IMO.

Because there aren't 5 Metal gears (about to be 6), 14 Final Fantasy's, 4 (will be 5) Assassin's Creed's, 5 Gran Turismos, etc.

Yeah, yeah the "they aren't all similar" argument, but if the games are solid and fun, ill keep taking them.

The funny thing is that you're replying and trying to make sense to people that were never interested in Halo in the first place. Just let that sink in for a moment... So just let these people vent their frustration, this is what they've been doing in every Halo thread since Halo CE first was shown, popular, successful games usually piss off a certain group of people, while the rest of us can just get on with it and continue to enjoy Halo as per usual.

I for one is excited about a new era without Bungie. Halo Reach was a great farewell from them, and now we have a new team working on something which you could say has the potential to have a taste of "new ip" in it - but with familiar clothes.

hmmm, I just saw Frank O'Connor on GameTrailer talk about Halo 4 and when he got the question if they had been working with a new engine he said that it wasn't really a new engine but new technology... Stealthy leak about a new Xbox?

I never called this series milked before but it's hard not too after seeing this news.
There have been radical improvements in each Halo franchise.

If a sequel in your definition is called milking, then I suggest you look at the bigger picture of the video games industry.

because it was pretty much enders game in the halo universe.

Or a modified version of Bungie's tech.

Did you miss them bumping Halo ODST up to full price despite its multiplayer primarily consisting of the same multiplayer you could play with a copy of Halo 3?

I'm not calling it milked yet, but it's starting to look like it.

And personally I wouldn't call each entry a radical improvement.

4 games is a lot now? Truly Halo has turned into CoD.

Because releasing a main line sequel every 3 years is milking.

As for the books, having supplementary content for fans of the fiction is hardly a big deal. By your standards just about every famous franchise has been milked.

4 halo games and they announced 2 more. That would be 6 games from the franchise to hit the console this year. Just like the COD line (after mw3 that would make 7 this gen), people can consider that milking.

I like halo, and I am even starting to think this is ridiculous.

No. What gave you that idea? Reach is being re-colonized after the credits sequence of Halo: Reach.

Huh? Why would you come to this conclusion?

We don't exactly know how long the Chief and Cortana have been adrift, however.

I love Halo, milk away. The remake has me a lil worried, but listening to frankie on game trailers makes me feel better.

Anyone else notice the Chief using the original pistol with some sort of grenade launcher attachment on it? He uses it to blow open the door then you can see him loading it at the very end shot before it shows the giant glowing door.

Was it? then what was that planet they were close to in the end? I haven't played the campaign in a long time so can't remember.
