Halo 4 |OT| Spartans Never Die

To be honest the Needler has always been great. The perception of it has changed though. No one would use it in 3 or Reach so I would always grab it and get an automatic few kills. Now everyone wants it. :p

Agreed. The transformation was there in Reach. You play power house with that and a DMR and you are unstoppable.

Cheers for the response guys. Guessing all those Spartan Ops Cheevos are an easy grab then. =D

But yeah. Shame it's not up to Firefight. It could really benefit with a toggle that includes proper deaths, that gave more experience on completion.

I still like the assault rifle, a lot of players are still garbage close quarters. DMR and BR are pretty much the same gun, get rid of one.

I'm garbage with the BR. I was getting rocked by a guy who was using the Carbine midrange against my DMR. It felt like he could drain my shields faster if he didn't miss his shots.

I honestly can't believe how many people I've been fooling with the hologram. Even if it's just for a second, that's all I need to win the gunfight. I've seen people chase my hologram down the hallway and sit there and repeatedly try and beat it. lol

I'm really liking the multiplayer so far, especially after the garbage multiplayer of Reach. Armor abilities are actually implanted in a good way (so far) compared to armor-fucking-lock in Reach (really ruined the gameplay. It really slowed down the game, in a bad way. I don't like the fact that the normal slayer rotation is only 5 maps, however they are all decent to good so it's not a huge problem, and DLC is already coming in december.

I have played Halo 3 for at least a good 700 hours, Halo 2 something around 100 I think, Reach less than 50 because it sucked so hard and Halo 1 only splitscreen, Multiplayer-wise, my favorite Halo's would be:
Halo 3 > (*I think*) Halo 4 > Halo 2 > Halo 1 > Halo Reach

I've been enjoy MP quite a bit. I haven't played Halo MP for a long time (Since a few months after Halo 3 came out) so I'm obviously no Halo MP expert but it feels great to me, mechanically.

I swore by Hologram in Reach. Nobody ever used it so people wouldn't expect it and fall for my Holo every time.

I was expecting to use it a lot again in 4, but I just can't pass up Hardlight Shield. It has all of the good concepts of Armor Lock without the downsides of being horribly cheap and broken and no fun at all to use.

It's good to see people finally seeing the goodness of Hologram, though; I've been tricked by it a few times.

who thinks they are going to bring back cortana? I feel they shouldnt, as it would make this ending hurt more like they obviously wanted it to end. As a matter of fact they shouldnt bring back any AI's and lets let chief be by himself for once. Also to anybody that has read the books, exactly what and who is the Didact? They really didnt explain to me what or who he is, and why he is significant.

I think it would have been more appropriate for the last game of this new trilogy. It definitely would have felt more satisfying and emotional.

On Heroic, I've really only had two points where I'd just die, and die, and die. The first was
during the first encounter with the knights because I really didn't know what to do
, and the other was
the second pylon thingy thanks to the god damn banshees.

Not saying it's too easy though, it's nicely challenging and in all the right ways. Played some co-op with my brother, who insisted on doing it on normal after a few levels on Heroic. I don't get it, but then he really, really hates dying.

Love the game thus far, but man it was a hard transition to make being a spoiled PC player for the past 5 months. Dat frame rate.

Only AA I've bought so far is the thruster which turned out to be a giant piece of garbage. Going to try the hologram or jetpack tonight.

Yea regardless of how I feel about promethian vision or perks, nothing has bothered me as much as armor lock did for Reach (and for the most part, I loved Reach multiplayer as well). At least you can tell when someone else is using the perk, and you with it on you have no view of the regular radar (if I remember correctly). Dominion can be a little hectic and hard to follow unless you are a highly coordinated group but it's still fun to get a triple kill while defending your last base to keep your team in the game. I actually like the changes made to capture the flag and enjoy the faster pace.

It makes alot of sense if you think about the trilogy as a whole and the character arc that MC is taking. Halo 5 is supposed to be pretty dark.

Pardon my ignorance, but isn't this the BR equivalent? I haven't played enough MP but I thought the light rifle seemed more powerful but slower shooting than an AR.

I think it's a single slower shot in scope like DMR, and burst fire standard. Not sure where it ranks but it seems like it could be more useable than the DMR in close range, and better than the battle rifle for super long distance.

I was going to use the shield because I liked it alot in single player but the time from when you put the shield down and the gun is put back in your hand is much too long. I'm usually dead before I can even fire a bullet at times after dropping it.

Hmm, I may have to add it to my second loadout and see how it plays. I picked it up once and shot down a shield while in scope, so that was a surprise.

Definitely.
They've already established that Cortana is unique among AIs, and laid the groundwork for devices that bridge can store consciousness and bridge the gap between mind and body. Prometheans are ancient humans, encoded. We see a construct of the Librarian, after her death eons ago. And we have the composer floating around.

If they want to bring her back they have several ways they could do it.

I have plenty of SP to get unlocks but I'm still toying around and figuring out what i like. At some point last night I was thinking about actually changing to assault rifle and hardlight shield. I think it really depends on whether you play in a group or not. I can imagine a group of guys communicating could all be using radically different loadouts to dominate. Ideally, only one guy should need to be using promethian vision if everyone is communicating. The damn hologram is an insanely useful tactic right now, at least against my group of scrubs.

When I enter the Raider2 code, it says I haven't met the requirements to unlock that item, any idea? The other two are fine. Or is there a link to a Waypoint thread or anything discussing this?

I can get the Oni1 to work but the other two not with the same error message. Strange.

So they haven't updated the Waypoint (Android app) to include H4 stats. And I can't access them through my phone's browser, firefox, or chrome ('please try again later, sorry for the inconvenience'). And they aren't in the game. Pretty useless. Silverlight should die a painful death... it's the main reason the halo site and waypoint work terribly, and very probably the problem. (I'm using linux.)

Just curious about campaign deaths.

Posted in the community thread, but not automatically being pulled from scoping when getting shot baffles me! At least have it occur with the sniper. It's so frustrating and I can't wrap my head around why it's like this compared to other Halo games. It's already ridiculously fast paced compared to previous games, with almost no dynamic team play, but this just adds to the head-scratching.

Also, I've already had quite a few times occur where 3-4 seconds after I kill someone, they're sprinting around the corner and shooting at me again. A huge turn-off from Call of Duty rearing its head in this game, makes me sad.

Turns out there are a lot of people that are not baffled about not being pulled out of scope.

Have not experienced being killed by someone that I just killed, so I cannot comment.

What are specializations? I got the LE which is supposed to have "early access to specializations" but they are all locked for me. I also don't understand what they even do besides give you new armor sets. Is it like CoD Prestige where you level up, and then go back to level 1 in a new category (like Wetwork) or something?

One of the things that always impresses me about the Halo series are the instantaneous load times after you die or restart a checkpoint. In fact, I really can't think of any other shooters that that have such fast load times. Something like Trials has instantaneous reloads, but that's a downloadable bike game played on a 2D plane -- relatively simple by comparison.

Anyway, I'm not sure how they do it, but I'm glad to see 343 kept this tradition going with Halo 4.

at the beginning of the last campaign chapter...wooooooooooow :OOO

this part was stupid annoying in co op because it got hard to see at parts but i cant wait to replay this in solo. i stopped after that, i dont want it to be over yet :(

The Didact is the military leader of the Forerunner, and has/had at his command an entire military. He fought against the ancient humans when they fought each other over 100,000 years ago and so had a strong opinion about the capability of the human species to rise up and cause destruction. He basically kicked our ass back to the Stone Age.

He was the Librarian's husband, who was the Lifeworker leader of the Forerunner. It was basically her job to tend and categorize all living things in the galaxy. She fought to preserve humans against the Didact's will.

He actually goes through quite a bit of a character transformation, as he once vehemently supported the Mantle and wished not to kill all of the humans. He even greatly opposed the construction of the Halo Array, of which there were originally 12 (iirc).

If you have interest in this story line, I would greatly recommend reading Halo Cryptum and Halo Primordium. Silentium comes out early 2013.

I know this sounds like a minor complaint, but the warthog really sounds awful now. Changing the sound it makes just feels like change for changes sake.

Also, it's hard for me to tell as I might just need to play it on a higher difficult level, but I don't feel like the AI are pursuing quite as ruthlessly as they once did. Elites used to hound you out of hiding but now it feels like they wait for you to come to them.
