Halo 5: Guardians Beta Thread | Hot Red on Blue Action

First thing they need to fix is not being able to see the weapons on the ground. It's so fucking annoying to run around searching for br's and dmr's that are practically hidden unless u know where they are.
 
As I said earlier, the long TTK is what is preventing Halo from reaching it's intended audience.

343 needs ot decide who it wants it's audience to be.

Um there is nothing wrong with the TTK. Its Halo. There are plenty of copy cat shooters in the world. Only one Halo. Love it for what it is. I love Halo due to it requires time and skill to become a good player.
 
Finally hit Gold 3, playing with a mate is benefitting a lot. My KDA went from a 5.4 to a 7.0 after today's matches. I've played about 20 since I woke up.

I'm really looking forward to other gametypes though, I want to see how objectives play. I would love to give BTB a shot but that's not happening this beta.

Shooting for Onyx soon, hopefully new years doesn't affect my rank too negatively..
 
Just came in to say I've been playing the beta for hours on end having a blast.

Love the direction this game took. Movement and Team-Based play is fantastic.

I personally do not like ground pound, but it doesn't break the game. Keep up the great work everyone at 343!
 
Not at all. As I said to someone earlier, Halo feels different. I like the way Halo feels. Its part of why I've loved the series since day one.

I don't want ADS. I don't want loadouts. I don't want ordinance. I just want the fucking TTK reduced. Whether the traditional Halo fans believe it or not, the ridiculously long TTK is actually what's caused the decline in Halo's popularity.

CoD 4 would feel pretty damn different to Black Ops 2 or AW but those games don't have the sharp population decline Halo has experienced since 3. Why? Because the one constant is the quick TTK.

Halos only constant? Long TTK. Even if Halo Reach and 4 were Halo 2/3 with better visuals, Halo's popularity still would have plummeted. Perhaps less sharply. I think trying to please both parties made the drop worse.

343 needs decide who it wants. The traditional Halo fans? Or modern Halo fans. Because this trying to please both shit will get them nowhere.



I didn't say I prefer bots. I said they should be an industry standard in MP shooters. So we can keep playing long after communities die or servers are shut off.

What are you talking about modern halo fans? Just play Destiny then. Halo has always had a longer TTK and its pretty integral to the entire gameplay loop. Dueling, shields, vehicles, grenades, power weapons everything. You clearly don't want Halo. I don't think you know what you do want.

The day Halo has a fast TTK is the day I'll stop being a fan.

You can knock all the other additions to the games, that's the staple of Halo gameplay.
 
I can't tell if I'm just bad at this, the weapons are over powered, or I'm just being mismatched with experts. It's a ton of fun but I honestly think I'm more skilled at the MCC Halos based on my kill ratios today.
 
I need BTB in my veins. Vehicular combat....8v8, CTF... I need it!

Wish it were a part of the beta, but I know they're trying to focus on the basics right now
 
Played 2 mathces here. Loved the gameplay!!

However, after the 1st match I got stuck at the carnage report. After the second match I came back to the main menu, tried to play another match, got stuck at a screen with only the background picture.

So I just turned the console off. Am done with Halo problems.
 
I Dont get the ranking. I go 15-0 and get +2. Really?

the amount you gain or lose is influenced by what skill ranking your opponents are. a +2 means that the ranking system thought your opponents were trash. judging by your kdr, it did a good job!

(it also seems to give less points for a win then it takes for a loss. not sure the reasoning behind that...)

i wonder if they'll increase BTB player count

I say take out both Snipers on Empire, replace it with just one Rocket Launcher on the Outside.

Nothing I've played so far has convinced me it's a good sniping map, the sightlines are horrible.

My favorite weapon in every game is the sniper. The sniper in Halo is my favorite all time weapon. Empire is fucking amazing. It has some of the best sightlines I've played on in the longest time. You can see from inside to outside (there's like 4 spots you can snipe outsiders). You can also see through the map horizontally.
 
Played 3 games.

First impressions:

Everything is too dark. Please fix crushed blacks in a dashboard update.

The game doesn't feel 60 fps solid. More like fluctuating 60 fps.

Halo 5 is not the same Halo as the Halo MCC's. New controlling additions like quick dash makes the game unfamiliar again.

Lag seems to play a factor in overall HP. Sometimes I feel like shots are not registered.

People tend to play more scared as a team or camp style. Going lone wolf seems like suicide.

I don't know. Kinda turned off I can't play the game like Halo 2 but maybe because I'm unfamiliar with the setup.

It's funny how they kept the sound of the beeps when respawning- except it's only when you're backing out of a menu.
 
I was a gold 2 playing against 3 pro ranks and lost and got a -86. Yep cause that's fair.

Yea there's something weird about losing. You lose more points than you can gain in most any game it seems. I have no idea how each thing factors in but each loss usually sets me back 2-3 wins, maybe more.

Yeah it was pretty crazy, we heard the announcer say we lost the lead and went "WTF, we're destroying these kids?" We didn't realize until after the game the whole reason it was so close was because our other two teammates weren't getting any kills. I managed to pick up the last 3 kills and on the last guy two of my teammates had just died to make it 49-49. Just happy we pulled it off.
 
Yep the lag is fucking destroying any chance of enjoyment in this beta.

Why fucking switch on the Australian servers and not use them?

Fucks sake.
 
My internet is broken today and the Dunkin Donuts connection I'm mooching off of is only good enough to talk to people in a party.

Regarding that stuff about +/-80 points:

You nailed it when you mentioned being between tiers.

The 80-point win thing is a known UI bug. You didn't get 80 points, you moved from one tier to another and the bug caused the math to come out wrong.

For example, if you lose 20 points while at 10, you end up at 90 (a tier down) It might be doing something like: "Oh, the difference is 90 (after) - 10 (before) = +80!" and then it probably checks and sees it was a loss and changes it to -80, I dunno.

But it's something like that, not looking at the tier change.

You won't ever move that much in points.

Same thing happens when you first place. It'll say something lke +93 or something when you really didn't earn any point, just got initially placed.

All just beta stuff that'll be fixed I'm sure.

My aiming reticle during non ads disappeared for a good 10 games. Exclusive to the smg. It made me think that they removed it as a means to compensate for it's OP status. It's since reappeared.

Edit: thought I was playing Golden Eye, Halo edition for a few rounds there o.O

My reticle disappeared on the pistol for about 5 seconds yesterday. I would have been mad but it was just so random it made me laugh.
 
Not being able to back out of matchmaking is getting really frustrating. As soon as one person leaves the lobby the match never starts and because you can't back out you have to dashboard and start the beta again. Why not just let us hit b to exit matchmaking?
