Halo 5 Guardians: #huntthetruth

Yeah, especially since the Didact says "We are Forerunners, Guardians of all that exists." in the Halo 4 Epilogue. Who knows, maybe Humans will take over as the Guardians, just like Forerunners took over from the Precursors.

Well technically the Forerunners took the Mantle of Responsibility by force (wiped out a large majority of Precursors and sent the rest packing), but the humans were the ones meant for the Mantle to begin with.

The plan of the Librarian at this point is to elevate humanity to the point of being able to guard over life in the galaxy. Humanity as a whole, however, is so self-concerned at this point (ONI and arguably the UNSC being no exception) that it's going to take a lot for humanity to become a race worthy of the Mantle. They aren't to the point yet that they were during the Human-Forerunner War.

Good point, maybe in H5 we see Lockes team trying to take over the mantle however as humanity has not being deemed ready some sort of defence system (the guardians) put in place but the Librarian appears and things go tits up. The MC and Blue Team need to step in to fix dumb ass Lockes mistakes. Eventually MC (and maybe a select few Spartans/other humans) become guardians themselves?

The whole thing reminds me of how Truth found out that Humans were the real "Reclaimers" and decided to declare war instead of telling his people about it through fear of losing power and order.

I have a feeling the Covenant combat we saw in the Locke trailer isn't going to last throughout the entire campaign. Granted, I don't know that the Covenant will ever truly "die," but I think it'll get to a point where another faction will end up absorbing them, similar to how we saw Elites running around with Promethean weapons in Spartan Ops. I bet you Covenant missions on Sanghelios will last us four, maybe five missions before the real enemy shows up.

I also think it's a pretty smart way to combat (heh) the problem of the Covenant getting dull to fight: rather than completely reinvent the wheel in terms of what the Covenant can do, they totally reworked what the player can do by giving Locke all these new abilities that allow him to approach Covenant encounters in different ways. Rather than breaking up the bunch with a grenade, you can Spartan Charge into them and give off a shockwave that scatters the Covenant group, etc.

That's actually a really interesting question, considering campaign runs have not changed much when it comes to MC vs Covenenant. Now with the assortment of abilities like ground and pound and charge, I wonder how that will affect it.

I think it's still going to stay pretty much the same, especially legendary runs. Noob combo, head shots and camping.

Slightly OT but what if the Halo 5 legendary edition includes the Hololense glasses? MS did update the developement site saying that Hololense will be at E5 this year.

Seems very early, maybe an ‘IOU 1 Hololense <3 MS’ note in the box lol?

This post is very incorrect. You can pre-order the LCE almost anywhere, including Best Buy and other retailers. And we already knew about the CLE and LE we just don't know what specifically comes in the box.

I think that post related to UK pre orders, I don't think you can order from the US Best Buy site if your in the UK (unless you use some sort of 3rd party delivery service). I can't find the LCE on Amazon UK for example.

As far as I'm aware there are very few humans (if any at all besides Chief et al) who even know of the Mantle, much less of the fact that humans are supposed to achieve the Mantle. Unless, of course, Chief detailed what he knew in some briefings, but at this point with what we've recently seen Chief do, that seems careless for him to do so, what with his slowly losing faith in ONI/UNSC.

It will be an interesting thing though to see how ONI react if/when they do come to know of the Mantle. Will they simply view it as a position of power and act to attain it for selfish reasons, instead of viewing it as a position of responsibility and burden to not be taken lightly? Will ONI actually be willing to place the care of all sentient life above the desire to simply propel humanity to reign supreme? I very seriously doubt such could happen, without some very great, deep-rooted, all-encompassing penetance/humility in play.

I've never really touched on material outside ove the games, hunt the truth and wiki pages being the only things I've gone near. I also can't remember much of H4 but has it been highlighted that MC has been losing faith with ONI/UNSC? I'm not doubting you btw and it's probably really obvious, it just seems really interesting to read for me to catch up on. I would have just assumed that MC would have detailed all of his findings!

AFAIK, no. He's on a self-destructive path of going on missions without so much as a break though.

I really hope we don't see MC turn into 'the bad guy'. It seems too obvious and (IMO) would kill the franchise (again, IMO).

Also in regards to Frankie and the voice recording does anyone think it might be Jen back in the booth?

As far as Chief being the "bad guy", it's not going to happen. At the very most we'll see him do more questionable things (somewhat like Halsey has), but for the sake of all humanity/life. But I think whatever has labeled him as a traitor is either because he's realized that he no longer has a duty just to the UNSC, or to ONI, or even to humanity, but to all life. Either that, or it's a big misunderstanding/witchhunt by ONI to try and back their prized possession and that Chief might not have actually done anything worthy of the traitor moniker.

I don't think the voice Frankie was mentioning is any returning voice actor. He specifically states "Hardcore Halo lore fans...", with the two words of emphasis being "hardcore" and "lore". It's not just a voice for generic lore fans to go crazy over, and it's not just a voice for hardcore fans of the games to understand either. It takes both. My guesses:
 • Iso-Didact
 • Mendicant Bias
 • Offensive Bias
 • Chant-to-Green
 • Chakas/Lord of Admirals (either one/both being within the returning memories of the 343GS aboard the Rubicon
 • Master Builder
 • Primordial
Yeah, that's a long list, I know :P

The only one relevant to hardcore lore fans on that list are the two Bias AIs. All the rest are new peeps that aren't nearly as interesting, imo. Iso-Didact is cool, but "Didact" as a figure has already been done. Mendicant Bias is happening. Mark my words. Offensive, doubt it.

I love the idea of these guys!

Yeah I can't see MC 'going bad' except for in the eyes of ONI/UNSC and through their PR machine, if that makes sense.

I disagree with you about the Iso-Didact. Yeah, a Didact has already been done, but it's the more "hardcore" lore fans that understand that the Didact that was first revealed in the Halo 3 terminals is really the Iso-Didact/Bornstellar-Makes-Eternal-Lasting from the Forerunner trilogy. I'm not saying that this character is the character they've recorded, but I also think he's a valid enough character (both in the lore already presented, and in potentially what's to come) that he is a valid candidate.

And yeah, MB is most definitely coming :D

I saw somewhere (reddit maybe?) the idea of MB becoming the new Cortana, not sure how I would feel about that lol.

Honestly, while I don't think MB should "replace" Cortana, I can see him taking over the role of directing Chief of where he needs to go.

Also, in the same type of role for Locke, it'd be awesome to see/hear BB :)

Oh I know. I'm just saying I don't think we'll ever see the "true" Didact in game that was introduced in Halo 3. Too confusing for people I'd say. More likely we'd see Chief or someone embody that Didact and have the explanation happen in terminals or some such. Mendicant is a Locke.

Haha, I see what you did there...tricky.

LE edition of the game is tempting. But I will probably get it digital like HMCC. The idea that in will have all 5 main halo games on my console at all times without changing the disk is very tempting.

I'd really love to be able to get the LE/CE and a digital code thrown in. My blurays do it. :/

We already knew Jen will be back in the booth anyway, for the voice of Halsey
and possibly for the return of Cortana.

I'm thinking we'll finally get to meet Mendicant Bias.

Kind of interesting that we don't really know who we will be fighting in halo 5. Prometheans coming back? I assume the Storm forces are still be dicks somewhere.

Didn't that one comic have flood in it

Edited for spoilers :p

The Flood will be back for sure... Whether that will be in Halo 5 or beyond, dunno.

I keep waiting for MB to show up and he never does. Isn't he more or less responsible for the events of Halo 4? Just chilling on the Dreadnaught, trying to redeem himself.

343i is AAA.

Will Arnett for a freaking multiplayer beta trailer voiceover, Keegan-Michael Key for Ben, Kumail Nanjiani for Mshock, Cobie Smulders for Petra, and Stacy Keach for Mendez.

I can't believe I'm just now figuring out Ben is played by KMK. Nanjiani and (later) Keach I recognized straight away (haven't seen anything with Smulders) but it took until episode 5 when Ben kind of stutters in fear that I realized who it was. Crazy.

Game might end on a cliffhanger making us think 117 is about to die then Locke coming to the rescue

It'll be like Halo 2 all over again

MB's pretty much responsible for everything that happens in "modern" Halo universe. That is, almost everything after activation of Halo Array (and even before, honestly)

If you're nerdy in other areas besides Halo, then you presumably have seen Avengers and/or Captain America: the Winter Soldier. Smulders plays Maria Hill (Nick Fury's second in command).

Still reading this thread? A ban can't keep him away <3

But...Yeah, I'm more for the "eventuality" being people Like John and Cortana, rather than the individuals themselves. Too many variables for that. If his great great grandfather died before compulating with his great great grandmother, what then? If a different sperm won the race, bringing a different subset of gene activations? No, planning for a broader eventuality of Spartan-like beings makes far more sense.

I do wonder if that means the Librarian sparked some human wars...It would appear to have to mean that, as that's why the Spartans were made.
