I agree. The beta at times was lacking the pacing of the 4SK BR battles. This could easily be due to the fact that every game I played had shit tiers of K-Mart DSL lag.
Ouch. Get it fixed. Give it out on Games with Gold. I'm not even kidding.

That's really a shame
It really upsets me that the game didn't have a proper launch. The first few weeks a Halo game comes out are always great because the population is huge and the community is thriving. The MCC really just soured everyone, understandably, and we'll never have that pre launch hype back and nothing 343 does(although I do appreciate getting ODST free) will be a big enough apology for what happened. :/MCC needs so much positive PR to revive interest in it that I don't think 343 will even bother

The sad thing is that if the game has 20,000 concurrent users on at a single time, the multiplayer is extremely dead, as you would be assuming all 20,000 of those users are in matchmaking, and not in Campaign, forge, customs, or Spartan Ops.
There are 11 playlists in MM. That means if everything was equally split, only 1,818 are in a playlist.

Now of course, playlists aren't equal, so some playlists might be over 2,000, but you still must factor in that there are other modes in MCC besides matchmaking.
Just assuming 70% of all players are in matchmaking (a very high percentage), that's only 14,000 players, or an average of 1,272 players in each playlist.
Like holy shit, not only is this game dead, but it's DEAD.
I find it appalling that 343 let this game get into this situation, and is so fucking worried, they won't even let its user base look at the population numbers in each playlist to see if it's even worth a damn to search in multiplayer.
343 might be working on matchmaking, but you can't fix a low population.

FUNKNOWN would prefer having online CE MP in crappy condition over having H2A MP working well.
Personally I'd agree with him, if the alternative is no online CE console MP at all ever. Though if there'd been a possibility for it being launched right as part of a second package later, I'd gladly take that over the botched launch we got.

Deader than Titanfall imo. Being a game without datacenter selection, if you live in a less populated region by Xbox Live standard, you are stuck matchmaking in that tiny region, in my case Asia, which has very low Xbox One adoption rate, while on Titanfall I never have trouble finding games due to being able to choose servers and having a working MM code. My last MCC game was 2 months ago and since then I was never able to play in one match.
I will re-enforce FUNKNOWN. Having CE on XBL worth it. The fact that I can play BG CTF on live is really all I need.

I think the MCC can come back from this. Fix the multiplayer and combine that with a price drop and the population can bounce back. Just like it did with BF4.

So, I was going through the Elite halopedia page for some references and rediscovered this:
They look Bionicle as hell, but I'd love to fight a dedicated squad of specialist Elites - kind of a foil to a group like Noble Team - that had armor configurations like these.

I think the whole appeal of the MCC is a modern platform to play the Halo games some people are far more interested in than Halo 5. In which case, they'll still be playing/will return if the issues are solved.

I think a lot of people liked Halo 5 more than they thought they would, and a lot have moved on from MCC and ain't coming back. Barring a GWG release, I don't see this game ever having a huge population. I thought so at first, but I never imagined it would still be broken a few days away from Feb.
RIP was what would show up on Halloween I believe.

Yeah releasing it with 5 would be great but I think doing an April or May games with gold release would get a population back and get people ready for 5 later in the year.
I'm still hoping this next patch is worth anything too, I've been dropped out of three Halo 4 games this morning (selecting new host lol) and it's hard enough to get into the games still.

Like Fuch said I can still see a lot of people who weren't interested in 5 come back if they can see the game is working. A free release of sort is really one of the only ways I can see it working well though.

MS will never give out MCC. Not if they really plan to make it the main hub for classic Halo. At the most, a free weekend like Sunset Overdrive had, probably late summer. Marketed as "practice" before Halo 5 launches.
As long as I can find matches without any issues(not due to the game being broken), stuff like population total doesn't really worry me.
With that said, they should remove the HCS, H2A Rumble, and Team Slayer playlists so you don't stretch out the user base. If they decide to keep HCS, find a way to incorporate Team Hardcore into as well.

SO are people purposely dropping out of matching in MCC, or are they getting booted due to networking issues, Cuz that seems to be my only issue with MCC other then long wait times.

Because there's no quit penalty, so people are quick to drop out of games if things don't go their way.

They need to turn on the ranks in these playlists to make them worthy of playing in.
I'm tired of playing with split-screeners...they always either suck or quit out.

Semis and finals were really close thanks to the rules. Came down to a lot of pure survival stuff.

seriously its ridiculous. I get it some time i get upset to. but really people just stick it out. I mean the only time i leave mid game if ever is when half my team drops out. By then there's no point in staying except to get massacred.
Also i love how even if i stay the whole team acts like there bad asses for kill one dude when its 4v1. Wow good job. It's so stupid
