I think Frank debunked this, but still it's facinating.
That was from ~2 years ago, right? Very interesting.

Nice shit Dax. What's the Marantz? Is that the recording device? There will be a lot of stuff to talk aboutI plan on recording a segment every night.or not talk about.
Also very much looking forward HaloGAF Customs when H4 releases. Should be sick!
"343 vs HaloGAF CTF" seemed pretty 1-sided, but maybe that was just the beer goggles.

Some announcements.
Yeah, I'd say it's pretty crappy. A mortar whose visual feedback tells a completely separate story from the amount of damage it does? Shitty physics impulses on every shot that take control from its targets? It's basically the Concussion Rifle of vehicles. The ability to splatter people by turning while stationary or barely moving? A gamebreaking autoaim glitch? It's certainly not as bad as the Spectre or Prowler, and I'm not saying it's useless by any means, but given a choice to axe it or keep it, I'd vote for the guillotine any day.
The marantz is used to record the sound, yes stereo or mono (has some audio filters on it too). Records it to an SD card, which we can then use to put on our laptops (I'm assuming Duncan's).
"Maybe you guys will be better at the next game" is my favorite quote of the whole weekend :lol
Ah very cool. How long we record on 40gb? I have a 32gb SD card that I'm bringing so I don't mind using that up if we need it. 40gb of audio sounds like a fuck ton though lol
NO FORGE MAPS - we're placing a temporary ban on Forge maps for HaloGAF Customs. Halo 4's map lineup looks pretty badass at this point (with just one left to reveal) so we're soak it all up and leave the Forge maps for another time in future. It should take a while before the quality Forge maps actually bubble out and in the mean time we're be playing only on solid develop maps.

I was thinking a forerunner vehicle would be like Tron, you grab the handles and the mothafuckin' thing morphs around you. And it explodes into lovely space confetti like the Forerunner weapons do to Spartans
*sigh* Maybe in 3 years for Halo 5 ;_;

Are there videos of every map revealed so far? I'm so far behind on this.
How are there absolutely no clips online of the Tron Light Jet transforming? Well.. imagine that lol but once you pick up the "item", your Spartan hops as the vehicle forms and blasts off right before your eyes..

IGN will have walkthroughs of every map with great developer commentary, there's two videos so far, but there was three more up online prematurely, including an unannounced map called Meltdown, and taken down.
IGN updates every Thursday and Tuesday with a new map walkthrough video.

So, Im so glad the color correction wound up tweaked in FUD.

Its still a bit much, but man it helps it a ton. Also, finished effects made a world of difference from the trailer with some of the awkward looking shots.

There are still a fair share of bland shots, but they really don't stick out like a sore thumb as they did in the trailer, same with the color correction. Im really happy about this and I really, really cannot wait to see more.
I think its all just rather lucky guessing which was possible from the ending of Halo 3 mixed with the extended fiction stuff. Still, its pretty awesome how close it wound up being!
"Punch it, Chief!"
Every time you posted about it this week I wanted to tell you to stop thinking about it and get ready to enjoy it. The final edits really helped. There seems to be an orangey-green filter over it all and I kind of like it. I think it adds to the atmosphere and gives it its own style. I didn't mention it in my review though because I didn't want people to get hung up on it.
What does FNG stand for? I
It is definitely a Covenant ship, you can see Covenant symbols on Lasky's monitor shortly before the "flying thing".Did a mostly negative take before, so I'll flesh out my thoughts on the positives of the episode:
1. I like the beginning. It seems like Infinity finds MC and Cortana's distress beacon either by accident on an unrelated assignment. Haven't finished The Thursday War.
2. The movie is very clear in its theme: you should have something to believe in. Setting up Lasky to believe in the Master Chief.
3. Random stupid question: What does FNG stand for? Is it like NCC in Star Trek?
4. I laughed when I saw the space elevator. Frankie was right!
5. It's paced well. Those 19 minutes went by fast.
6. I like the sound of the ground debris hitting against Lasky's armor at ~04:25.
7. Nice fiction tie-in with the stun rounds. We've seen those before in the books (FoR I believe).
8. Love the bird's-eye-view shot of the soldiers marching through the woods.
9. "Forward unto Death" at 13:08.
10. Chess board have some meaning later on?
11. Can't really tell what that flying thing at the end there is. Looks purple, so you'd thing Covenant, but it has a weird trajectory for a plasma weapon. Maybe a small ship? Hm.

We won't be using 40GB of audio. That's like twenty-four hours worth at least. I'll need to buy a couple of battery packs, though. The marantz eats power like no piece of equipment I've seen, and just a couple of extra AAA for the microphone.
I actually felt like an ass after I shouted something like "You guys know this is CTF, right?" during game 2. Got caught up in the energy of the CTF shutout.
Heh, I'm going to have a shitload of material to edit.I love editing podcasts. This is going to be awesome.
Yikes, she really let herself go. Lol
Ah. Missed that detail. Thanks. It is definitely a Covenant ship, you can see Covenant symbols on Lasky's monitor shortly before the "flying thing".
Haven't seen this yet, but FNG is "fucking new guy," usually, in US military.
If only.
Out of curiosity, how long ago did you see the final cut and how? I take it you weren't allowed to say you saw it early until after it hit? But yeah, Im glad things panned out, I was really worried and the trailer was just chock full of awkward scenes that left me uneasy. Its still not 'perfect', but Im left very impressed and hyped for the next episode.

I got to see it Wednesday night for the first time, so not too long ago. You had stated your concerns previously and to be honest, I was thinking about you and what you had said while watching and was really pleased to see it really got cleaned up. I wasn't given much for embargo, just told the article had to wait for Friday, but I didn't want to blow anything so I just kept quiet.
It may not be perfect, but I'm not sure how it could be better for me personally, so far anyway. I think I'll have some bigger critiques as it gets going (Mast Chief suit looked odd in some of the previews we saw), but overall I think its going to be awesome. I also think it'll flow much much better as one piece. Seems like it was a movie cut into chunks to work as episodes. Having the Blu-ray to complete the experience will surely be awesome.
She is an artistic genius! This is part of her art!
Ah. Missed that detail. Thanks.
Sorry, not FNG. FFG. On the ship Forward Unto Dawn.
Looks like an equivalent to "NCC" in Star Trek which didn't really stand for anything, but was a way to designate different ships of the same name. Just wondering if there were actual words behind the lettering unlike Star Trek in which Gene just added an extra "C" from airplane designations because he wanted it to look updated.
10- Pure speculation, possible spoilers - It seems he and his brother used to play chess over these messages a lot and Lasky seemed to win (implying he is a good strategist).11. It kinda looked like a Seraph to me, but whatever it was it was definitely covenant. Did they have spy drones? It also seems his brother was killed by insurrectionists, which is why he 'knew what they were'.
Its pretty funny, most of my concerns were void in this episode. Yes the color correction is a bit much, but it no longer looks cheap.. Yes some of the shots are a bit bland but they no longer look cheesy. Sure these things could be better, but as long as the story keeps up good pacing etc it wont matter too much. Im really feeling good about this. I am worried about MC's suit, Im afraid nothing will help that entirely, nor the slightly cliche cheesy action hero way he was filmed, but ah well. I still expect it to pan out lot better than the trailer. Without spoiling anything, did you get to see any of the other props/effects (*cough* covenant *cough*) that weren't in the trailer/episode, and if so how did they look?
If something like that isn't in Halo 4, 343 dun goofed.
as of yesterday:
i still think she looks pretty good

Why is there any autoaim at all when you're in a vehicle is beyond me.
I really wanted to love that movie.
