I'm nitpicking here, but Cortana's hologram really doesn't look holgraphic - she looks ...solid.

Cryptum doesn't really give us a good reason. I mean, they consider us parasites, sure... but the humans only spread as much as they did in the
ancient war
because
they were running from the Flood

The Didact
considers himself an eternal enemy of humanity and feels they do nothing but spread, consume and destroy like locusts. Even before the Flood fuckery, humanity got into it with the Forerunners because they were expanding beyond their permit. Humanity took the loss in the resulting war, got fucking de-evolved, and sequestered. Humanity wasn't standing for that shit and got their weight up again, somehow, which is when the Flood jumped into the mix.

And after fighting with the Flood and humanity both, the Didact still felt the same in regards to humanity being the largest threat to the galaxy.

edit: I just read the wiki and it looks like I'm off on the bulk of that, but somehow my conclusion is still correct. Oh well.

Perfect. Agreed on all points.

Well said, the casual fan is needed for the game to stay relevant, I don't see why so many fail to understand this.

What's he holding her in? Speculation: What if thats some sort of forerunner AI device that can stop or just hold rampancy?

Didn't humanity rise back up because the Librarian refused to have them extinguished for good?

I have no problem, you just come off as someone who gets bent out of shape over every little thing, it's silly really.
Er... Hello! Welcome to HaloGAF! Press 1 if you want to hear about the AR starts, press 2 if you want to hear about skill ranks, press 3 if you'd like to mourn the loss of the Mark V helmet, press...

Honestly, I just wanted to comment on a crappy Microsoft trend and be done with it, but then I got stuck having to explain why I don't think outdated memes aren't the highest form of comedy. I blame Hydranockz!

lol. You are so wrong. That scene has nothing to do with telekinesis, (First mission spoiler)
it is an in-game event from the first mission.
Care to explain what you mean, or just... lol?
Because he doesn't sound all that wrong to me.

Maybe improving the coop netcode resulted in a biproduct of it not being compatible with theater mode.
Other modern games have built asynchronous co-op modes, but this would be a first for the franchise, and all the bs you experience in adversarial multiplayer would potentially come with it. I don't think it really has anything to do with theater, though.

It more likely was something that wasn't performing well, and a time/cost decision had to be made to cut it, as it was a lesser-used feature (although beloved by some).

In the end, it is what it is. Most will enjoy the new Halo video game. The problem is that the die-hard players view Halo as a platform. We want all the functionality of the previous version, better performance, bugs fixed, and worthwhile features added. That is a tall order for a studio built from scratch to replace Bungie that is shooting for release on a 7 year old console.

And let no one forget.

2013.

Destiny is coming.

I'm pretty sure that's intentional. It's a lot easier to empathize with a something that represents a human figure, than just a digital fabrication.

First thing I thought of after watching the trailer:

Those shots of the big bad guy force grabbing the Chief...remember this early animation cinematic posted briefly by Nathan Wapole, before he left 343? Showing some guy force tossing dudes around?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CT2qDfykbA

Nathan (or BentLlama) was in pre-visualisation work I think, hence that video. I try not to comment too much on leaked on content and I don't want to spoil things for myself and my first play through campaign.

However there are a number of abilities in that video that we may see in campaign...

The chip from his helmet. They showed her walking off of it in Halo 3 and that's exactly how she appears on the Cortana chip avatar prop.

Any who... I guess I now understand why the Didact hates the humans again.

Sure, in Cryptum he doesn't seem to mind as much because humans were in the stone age... Shells of the great beings they once were. No real threat to anyone. Can't remember exactly, but didn't he feel remorse or something? Nonetheless, it doesn't matter.

Now that he's awakened in Halo 4, he's going to see the Humans expanding in the wake of the Covenant war (Plus the fact that they're no longer in the stone age) and is obviously going to fear that they'd take over - just like last time. Difference in this encounter is that there is no Librarian to calm him down so he might try to wipe humanity out altogether. You know, given that they (the Forerunner) still believe themselves to be protector of the galaxy when in reality they're not.

I just want to see how the Precursors will play into this later on.

Cryptum shit:
It seems that, reading the wiki, humanity got devolved and never rose back up into contention with the Forerunners. I don't know why I even thought that in the first place. Librarian reseeded them and gave them geas' and all that shit.

More book shit:
Didact probably renews his beef with humanity in Silentium.

BS is a dinosaur when it comes to the current gaming landscape.

Actually, what I've always argued for is what all great games do; appeal to both sides.

There's this ridiculous notion that everyone seems to hold that accomodating skill-based gameplay is mutually exclusive to appealing to casual fans. I want Halo to do that, but its not; it's making a mad grab at the nebulous "casual gamer" and is willing to sacrifice long-time, hardcore fans to do it.

I understand the necessity for a broad fan base, trust me. But I also understand that you can create a game that is fun for casuals and incredibly deep and rewarding for elite players.

Primordium spoilers:
I had felt like Didact's opinion of humans had changed by Primordium. Then again, I suppose that was the Bornstellar-Didact.

The chip? Not sure why'd he have it out....
Chief wants Cortana to feel like her boob job was worth it.

I'm glad to see HTC understand the demographics and business side of MLG and not just the game mechanics as you've discussed in this video. Solid comments mate and I agree with what your're saying.

One thing to note is a player like me, I don't like MLG settings and I rarely watch games or theatre etc. Some of us just love the game mechanics themselves regardless of casual or competitive and we play for the pure enjoyment of the game. Nothing to do with spectators or rank or medals etc. Just pure game experience.

I'm hoping the 343i changes keep evolving default Halo into a better and more intensive experience that I'll continue to play for years to come. Flag indicators may or may not do that, I'll reserve judgement for a couple of months still...

Guys I called it six years ago.

Forge spoiler ahead
its grey. It's awful

Just LOL mate.

Possibly Didact tossing around some Spartan IV's/Marines?

I was thinking it was super early pre-visualzation on our bad guy tossing dudes around. At the end he pulls someone to him, who looks like the Chief (in very rough form). The Chief getting pulled to him in the trailer made me think of it.

Probably not even the same context or anything. But I found the thin similarity interesting, sort a primordial connection.

It's subjective, but I'd be very confident in saying I'm much more of a hardcore fan (as in Halo as a bloodsport) than most- and I haven't felt sacrificed in the slightest.

Gameplay looks sharp, and I completely got over ranks when I played ~20 games of Halo 3 doubles for the first time in a year and only played 2 squads that didn't have a de-ranker.

If Cortana's full-on patented prom knight technology™ now, hard light and all, she doesn't even need a real body for chief sex! And chief can't break her like the flimsy marines he handicapped from the waist down in training! They're perfect together!
