I still believe that eventually the ranks will be added in-game. I just hope that 343 realizes that when you make a playlist "ranked" there are certain expectations that come along. For example, JiP doesn't make sense in ranked playlists.
I just listened to the Havok episode of the podcast yesterday on the plane, and I gotta disagree with you, and agree with Duncan and Domino's opinions on the ranks and what will happen to them.
I don't see them ever outside of Waypoint, and I see them as 343 giving ranks to the super hardcore fan that cares about, but carefully and deliberately are keeping it out of the actual game because not only do they think that it's unnecessary, but I think they think it's actually detrimental to their vision of matchmaking.
To be honest, I am always shocked when I talk to Halo Fans and they did not know HBO. It is the number one source for Halo stuff.
Wu's awesome, but I honestly never go to HBO, and hadn't heard of it until I started posting in HaloGAF.
Personally I wish Destiny were a next generation title because I fear it will end like Halo 4. Halo 4 does a lot of great in the campaign but you can clearly see, it was limited by the hardware of the 360. At the moment I imagine Destiny as a exploration action game(and please, let it be that one of type game!) and so I expect limitation of the vision.
I have that thought a lot that games lately are maxing out the consoles, and then Rockstar releases new media for GTA V, and I realize that developers (the great ones) can pretty much endlessly find new ways to improve visuals in their games.
That said, if their is a version of Destiny as a launch window Xbox 720 game, I will spring for the new system and get it on that console (hopefully 64 player BF4 as well).
Will approach DLC 2 and 3 will extreme caution now. If there is one good thing about Global Ordnance (there isn't), it's that CA can't load their maps with 116 power weapons now.
