Why is the Didact's chestplate Megatron's face? I guess you do stick an allspark in his chest.

Spartan Ops Grand Finale will have Master Chief take off his helmet only to reveal to be player xXxMLGxD4NkxNUGZZZxXx420xXx.

Maybe they're still working on their monetization strategy. Or maybe its waiting on the Halo 4 smartglass stuff? or both?

File Shares with improved smartglass functionality would be absolutely baller.

I was enjoying myself up until the 6th level. After that, I started to see how boring the Prometheans were to fight. As you said, pretty much every encounter played out the same. Kill the watchers, than the crawlers and then all the knights. That's pretty much it for me in every scenario. In previous Halo games when you were fighting the Covenant, I'd depend on the situation. Elites or Grunts first? Are there any Jackel snipers that could be annoying when engaging Elites/Brutes? Hunters or the surrounding enemies? That's the variety that made the Covenant so much fun to fight for me. And I'm not even talking about the AI behavior of the Promethean behavior. That's another big factor that makes the Prometheans much less fun to fight.

I think Ghaleon once said that most of the time, there wasn't one good way to combat the Covenant. It'd depend on the situation and the weapons you're carrying and even then, the same encounter could play out very differently if you choose to tackle the encounter differently. That's pretty much gone now in Halo 4. Even the Covenant seems less fun to fight. Elites just stand still when being shot at from a distant, you're spammed with Fuel Rod grunts. 343 really has to revamp the Enemy behavior for Halo 5. Maybe give the Prometheans some vehicles to use and/or change some of their unfair behavior (teleporting, hard to headshot). There're many things to change. Not learning from this would be a huge mistake.
Having literally just played a mission from CE Anniversary and noticed how much dodging the elites actually do, it seems like even the elites in Halo 4 are less agile and less fun to battle. Go take a peak for yourselves.

Yeah, I thought the same while playing through it.

Still, they were more fun to fight than the Promies ended up being.

Man we need a spin off game about the Human Forerunner war. Dual perspectives. As humans you can choose flood infected planets to fight and purge using a star map similar to ME. As the Forerunners you're attempting to counter the humans/fight flood. Dat tech on both sides would be amazing to use. Didact calls the shots for the Forerunner troops and Lord of Admirals for the humans.

The Human/Forerunner war would be something great to do after Master Chief's story comes to an end in Halo 9 (we need to be like Star Wars fan and accept that 7, 8, and 9 is going to happen).

Not worth the torture.
You'll just have to imagine the fire.

Okay. We complained about a lot of things that 343i outsourced things etc. But goddamnit Turn 10 Warthog sounds a lot better than the go kart we got in Halo 4. (And I do like the new Warthog design!)

WE NEED ODST2. OPEN WORLD. MOODY SAX IN THE BACKROUND CONSTANTLY. MAKE IT'S OWN CANON. ON NEXTBOX. NATHAN FILLION IS HOT.
We need a Halo spin off on a Forerunner Shield World. I meant a new Shield World. And the game plays like Metroid Prime!

In keeping with the style of the books, I'd love a departure from FPSes again and giving us more of a visual, Journey-style narrative with puzzles and platforming that covered Bornstellar's journey. Just imagine what 314 Industries could pull off graphically if it was that sort of game.

Why wait til then? TIME TRAVEL

CHIEF IS THE DIDACT

Hey, going by halo 4's bonkers narrative it's a matter of time.

because they had the ability to do anything after Halo 3.

and they went right back to grunts.

Yeah the covenant should have arrived later on as the change-up element to the combat a couple missions in. That way the can keep their covenant sandbox around the game which seemed important to them.

My biggest gripe with Halo 4's story is that the UNSC Infinity and Covenant should not have been involved at all.

During the first bits of info and concept art (even before the GI article), we were told about how the story would be personal and simple, Chief and Cortana. There was concept art like this:

I was under the impression that Halo 4 would be about exploration, with Chief and Cortana in a completely alien environment and no contact with the outside world. While the end result was satisfactory in my opinion, it could have been so much more. Seeing the covenant and UNSC forces so quickly took the mystery out of the game. I was fighting enemies I had seen for a decade with comrades I had fought with for a decade.

It would have been pretty interesting if Chief explored the whole "greatest story never told" trope where he does all of this stuff isolated and somehow loses Cortana (if only temporarily) and eventually gets rescued by the UNSC in the epilogue, and given the circumstances he can't exactly prove much unless he brings a few VHS racks of Requiem's security footage with him. Then they could also play up the "hallucinations of an aging Spartan" aspect in Halo 5, too.

Can anyone tell me how to get some of these forge map remakes onto my xbox, theres no file share right? Do I just have to play with people who have the maps already and then save them?

Someone should remake that Shadowrun map that had the side rooms and hallways but all the large multilevel square room in the middle.

Yes! I totally agree! I like 4's campaign but I wished the game was more like Requiem. The one aspect I love about Halo CE is the unknown world. 343i missed it. I thought the opening sets everything up correctly. Requiem introduces the player with Chief's goal: Find Halsey and get Cortana fixed. The campaign could be phenomenal but at the end it became only awesome. (for me at least).

You have to type in their name in the fileshare menu in Halo 4.

Agreed. Halo 4's story isn't bad by any stretch, but A) I think it missed some great opportunities in its concept, and B) the execution was weak in several areas (gameplay, but also how to relate plot to the player.)

My opinions of the campaigns take a while to settle. Halo 2 is still at the bottom of my list, but I'm not sure if Halo 4 will be down there with it or not.

I just downloaded like 30 maps and while being able to download maps from a browser would be much, much easier, it's not so bad. I mean, it sucks ass because it's a feature that we've come to love and appreciate but shutting down a section of a forum because of that seems counterproductive. Are Forgehub just trying to prove a point or something?

If there's no open world missions to encourage exploration in Halo 5 on the "720", I'm just going to give up hope that we'll see a campaign like CE again.

The hardware limit is a very good excuse for 343, they won't have that next time. Looking forward to what they'll come up with.

Are Forgehub just trying to prove a point or something?

Seems like it and glad they are. The lack of file share is holding this community back.

I was about to say the same thing. Those members are going elsewhere to post their maps because we're still reviewing, testing, etc... and these guys are still building.

THE ONLY GOOD MAPS COME FROM FORGEHUB. FORGE CONTENT IS ON STRIKE!!1111one

So now its the hardware's fault they chose graphics over scale?
That's not what I said at all. 343 wanted a graphics overhaul (and so did I honestly), and it looks like they had to strike a balance in terms of scale and IQ. I think its a decent balance, that can only improve when moving to new hardware.

Can you blame them? H4 wouldn't have gotten nearly the amount of attention it did (Internet wise) if it didn't have the impressive graphics it has. I think it was the wrong decision, but with Halo being a AAA title, it wasn't a surprising one

Like I said, 343 won't have the 'hardware limit' excuse next game, hopefully we'll see missions that aren't just pressing buttons, cheap portals, and inserting Cortana into every machine she sees
whore

Well if they actually are, it's silly. They're stifling their own community now.

Where do people submit and discuss their maps on the forum now?

True...I guess you're right. I just want my file share okay?!

I'm not for or against one position since I'm still a junior and don't want to get on any "lists" but I have a feeling that they needed to knock "graphics" out of the park. If they didn't, people would be jumping on them that it doesn't look any better than Reach or that they are not qualified enough.

Halo 4 is easily one of the, if not the, best looking xbox 360 games. There was an article at Digital Foundry talking about how much time they spent to extract everything they could from the aged hardware.

It makes no difference to me, but I remember reading over the years how Halo 3 was a let down because it wasn't so graphically amazing, or how Reach was too gritty and that the ghosting really put them off the game.

One thing I'm excited for is the fact that since 343 Industries is first party and so intertwined with MS, they probably got first crack at the "next xbox" dev kits.

All that's happening is all the map makers are just contacting other groups and CCs directly and the content is getting in anyway.

This is why it's a good thing that single-community groups don't control MM content submissions, from stupid stunts like this bringing things to a halt.

But if the ForgeHub staff wants to think this highly of themselves, then they can continue with whatever they're doing.

Give them more hardware power, I think we'll see the scale.
Dax01 posted a quote from the Lead Game Designer and he said that they went for the more linear level design instead of the more bigger level design as seen in Halo 3 and Reach. Can’t find Dax’s post, but it explains pretty much why we got the linear campaign for Halo 4.
