You ride through planetary sized Cortana while her boobs crumble like turkish made plastic surgery, and she gets a galactic sized orgasm from the Infinity starting its multiple slipspace engines.

Completely off-topic rage post incoming

Sigh, some of the current MLG staff is so condescending to the Halo community.

Easy to forget their roots were with this community. They'd be nothing without Halo.

Just watched the live action trailer again, but does anyone get the feeling the Infinity landing on Requiem wasn't an accident? That the UNSC high brass may've planned it? It's not as if they're morally above that, considering what we already know about them.

After rewatching the trailer, I still can't figure if Del Rio is already looking at Requiem before the infinity gets scanned and taken to the planet.

Methink, the Traviss trilogy is meant to position ONI as a strategic and powerfull force, and idea served better by them having sent Infinity towards Requiem rather than the Ship appearing there. that ONI cannot control everything is in line with the books too.

Cracked me up.
hopefully not offensice to our turkish friends. But I know Istanbul is a favored place for medical tourism. Not that I would go there...

It would have been ONI if anything that planned it.

That the Infinity is in the orbit of Requiem? Definitely it was planned. The crashing on it? Accident. Or not expected.

ONI tells lies about Infinity to the public. Wrongly say that Infinity's purpose is for research and peaceful measures.

But Requiem appears to have just one opening to it, which can open and close. It opened to let the ship crash there. I'm wondering, was it pulled in? Did it open up just because? Why would the occupant of the place let a giant, heavily armed ship full of enemies inside?

Dat question!

yet the gloomy voiced Didact could be so full of himself he considers no threat in bringing in humans and covies, or he needs those weapons and men (more skulls).

Given the size of Requiem I think it's likely there's more than one opening. My baseless speculation: Infinity follows FUD's beacon to Requiem, they get too close to one of the openings, then BAM.

Edit: Infinity's landing takes place about a third of the way into the game, so I think it gets pulled in after the Chief and Cortana crash.

Which is why I think that Cortana is yelling at Del Rio, and possibly the Didact, in the trailer. The whole idea that the Infinity is a ship for exploration is complete bullshit. ONI is up to something, they knew about Requiem, ancient humans, and even the Didact. Infinity, and Del Rio are going to play a bigger part in Halo 4 than people think.

/complete conjecture on my part.

Perhaps it's designed to let all precursor/forerunner life forms in since it's a shield world. Only it's working as a prison (unintentionally) now more than anything. All ships/life forms in it now are unwittingly sucked in and trapped.

We shall wait and see, I'll try and put a cam job on YouTube straight after, I don't know if shadders will record it in better quality though.
Read that wrong.

Didact pulled it in. 100% sure.

This got me thinking about Orbitsville.

I get to see an extended Halo 4 trailer in between the Steven Gerrard Show™. Boss.

I was under the assumption that ONI is part of the UNSC?

Just because it's a part doesn't make them the same thing with the same chain of command and the same motivations. Think of it like the CIA. It's part of the overall UNSC government, but it's a separate entity.

I love how much everyone freaks out over a 30 second extension of shit they've already seen.

And this "emotional" plot will probably end with Chief doing some Avatar magic to Cortana. Then fucks her.

Yeah guys, why would you want more of something you really enjoyed seeing?

Yeah, there is only one opening but they seem to have been pulled in. The captain even says when it opens to reverse thrusters.

I agree, but why? ONI delivering something to him? A nice shiny army of Spartan IV? A certain book-keeper and her guilty escort?.
Depends how much ONI knows... I doubt ONI knew that the ship would crash. They probably found Reqiuem and sent Infinity to investigate. The Didact probably wants to build an army. What better an army is 100s of Spartan IVs?

Went back in time over the last few days. Busted out the ODST disc to play H3 MP and then played Reach.

All I did when Reach came out was complained about it, but I now see it's because I was coming hot off the tails of 3. I appreciated Reach more in the hour I played it yesterday than I did in all the hours I put into it before. I'm garbage, but I enjoy it.

Fresh H4 hype. Choo choo

Yeah, I was thinking the Chief would put out a call somehow. My guess was the Chief and Cortana use Requiem to somehow contact the UNSC. I figure, he's been adrift for years, if they could have made contact in the Forward Unto Dawn, they would have. That the UNSC arrive at the same place the Chief does is probably not a coincidence.

"crash"

Considering the state of the Pillar of Autumn after crashing on Halo, and the fact that the Infinity eventually leaves again, I'm not sure it really crashed, more like a controlled/forced rough landing.

This, which is why I figure that the shield world has been "trapping" other ships/races inside it because its function is to keep life away from the flood. Just like the rings are independent of what "life wants" the shield world probably is too. "Oh look, flood food, I'll just hold onto that..."

Good point, but why does the Didact's symbol appear everywhere within the Infinity during its descent?

That means personal ordainednance drops are not nearly as cool as I thought they were. They still aren't as bad as kill streaks, but I wish they would drop for players that are getting assists/doubles/triples/UpstairsfromTashis in addition to dropping for players getting sprees/frenzies/riots.
This was already clarified for you, but I just wanted to apologize (it was my wording that was bad, not the answer I got), and let you know I've tweaked the wording to be less confusing to others.

So, for some reason... I feel like watching Willow.

Hmm... swordfighting, an evil queen, an awesome dwarf... is this what everyone's been talking about recently?

Seriously, if this game is going to be as rich as a cheesecake from a lore perspective, like you're suggesting, I will bow down to 343.
HOLD ON - did you just call Halo 4's story cheesy? Oooooh

Now we wait for the ViDoc!

Which will never come
It's coming. They filmed some clips for it at E3.

Halo 4 TV Trailer to Debut at Half Time of England vs France Tonight: http://www.littleenglishhaloblog.com/2012/06/halo-4-tv-trailer-to-debut-at-half-time.html
I'm pretty sure this is just the live-action bit that came at the start of the Halo 4 stuff shown at the MS press conference. ('Extended' suggests that there might be a bit we haven't seen yet... but I'm not positive about that.)

He's probably scanning it/disabling it.

Absolutely agree. It just seems too damn coincidental that out of all of space, the Infinity would just happen to be near Requiem. It had to have been sent there on purpose for something. What better than humanity's best ship to deliver something as part of a truce, or strategic move by ONI higher-ups. Or perhaps they're trying to find something, or someone.

Deliciously cheesy. Not metaphorically ;)

Can't wait for that BTS Video. 343 don't make no Vidocs, guys.

In this screen, you can see on the console right from the chief that the last communication was 3 years and 4 months ago. (maybe it's not very clear in this picture but somebody pointed it out in the GI reveal thread.) I don't know what it'll mean for the story but I'm sure it's there for a reason.

Did anyone ever think Halo would be removed from the circuit during the Halo2/Halo3 eras of the franchise?
Pretty sure MLG is making a lot more money with Starcraft right now than they've ever done with Halo. MLG definitely doesn't need Halo right now and Halo's competitive scene is practically non-existent without MLG.

I've heard they interviewed some fans, is that what you're talking about? If so, it doesn't exactly sound like MP vidoc material sadly.

Please go on, you make me feel my posts are worthy of HaloGaf.

ONI knowing of old humansis meaningless for now, since only a fraction of the crew of one ship got to hear the story and GS² has disabled every mean of communication and is sailing towards an unknown place.

Why would Cheif contact UNSC when he had the Arbiter lie about his death?
Wouldn't he rather more willingly contact the only person who knows he's still alive? (me like the situation of Chief & Arbiter vs ONI vs Zealots vs Prometheans vs ?)
And why would he drag UNSC into a trapworld?
