The game looks so good in these moments. I don't understand why they don't use the game for these ads. :\

I don't imagine it will be like this in every gametype, but obviously its because the game designers felt like switching things up.

I don't particularly see this as a horrible development, but obviously we need to see how it plays out before we can really cast judgement.

Well... they tend not to have too much differing per basic playlists. If entire game mechanics were different between playlists it would be annoying.

Disregarding fringe playlists, to me, it sounds like only a "classic" playlist and MLG will have old weapon spawning. MAYBE if they introduce a ranked/competetive hopper with playlists with non-random spawns... I can only hope. It's just right now, to me, it sounds like we have Infinity Slayer, their custom made new Halo experience, and then Global Drops are their evolution of Halo gameplay....

MP vidoc explaining all this really worrying stuff pls.

For you and others like you, I don't see a vidoc making you feel any better. I hope so, but I don't see it.

Surprised more people aren't talking about this.

That seems like a terrible joke. Leads me to believe that while Personal Drops are only in Infinity Slayer, that Global drops are in most other playlists.

So now we know that global drops are random in location, random in weapon spawn, and random in time.

So now I want to know is what the warning of an incoming drop is like. If its 5-10 seconds warning then matchmaking Halo is all kinds of fucked. If 343 really is going for this random system... They better give us 30+ seconds warning as well as the weapon and location its going to drop in.

Honestly, this still seems like a really convoluted and complicated solution for the "New players don't know weapon spawns" problem. Why wouldn't you just have weapon spawns work exactly like they did in previous Halo's, but implement that weapon waypoint system as well as a warning for a drop?

Ugh.

Holy monkey balls matchmaking is going to be a trainwreck. I never thought Halo would become part of Ubisoft's Imagine Babyz lineup.

100% MLG playlist from launch until Halo 5: Future Warfare.

I'm guessing the guy who created Hot Potato in Reach is now the lead Multiplayer Designer at 343.

I was upset when I read the guy who modelled the reach banshee now works at 343 that was a really ugly redesign. Guy is a awesome
Moddeler but I hope they leave the design stuff to someone else.

The sword and needler are on the map. You can see the sword spawned right at the beginning of the game. The personal ordinance drops are just scatter shot, sticky launcher and overshield.
But that's not a global ordnance drop though. It's just the weapons that spawn at the start.

No. Personal Ordinance drops are random. (It gave Needler, Scattershot, Sticky Detonator, Speed boost, Overshield etc.)

The weapon spawns during the game too. Just on a different location.

Watching the gameplay again I really love how it shows the weapons on the maps with the indicator, great for new players and with different playlist like MLG it will help them a lot.

Yes, but those are the points in which they are dropped. They keep spawning throughout the game

Yeah, noticed that, looks like both are random, but you can definitely see the global system working in the Haven videos.

I've heard they interviewed some fans, is that what you're talking about? If so, it doesn't exactly sound like MP vidoc material sadly.
Pretty much every Vidoc made (by Bungie or 343) has contained interview footage - not sure why you'd think that interviews would suggest that you're not getting a MP Vidoc... (the questions I was asked were all gameplay-related.)

For everyone panicking about my wording of global ordnance drops - I've asked for further clarification. At this point, assume that anything that makes you really nervous was me misinterpreting what I was told, or badly transcribing it. I'll post an update as soon as I get one. (Short version: I think you're all overreacting.)

Those MLG videos were boring as shit. BR, BR, Grenade, Pistol, BR, Grenade, Sword. Too busy trying to win to show anything new. Somebody pick up a Needler next time. Jesus. Nothing was at stake.

Surprise they didn't go through Turtle Beach, with them having that they will probably have a MadCatz wired Halo 4 controller and a wireless licensed one from MS.

Mmh. I wanted to buy a Astro Mixamp + A40 or Sennheiser 360. But now I am going to wait.

Get that, that is the best combo around.

Get Lloris out of the game. Two stupid moves he's made since the game began, shouldve come off his line to punch that out.

I'm glad that 343 isn't shying away from promoting Halo as a sci-fi epic. I was afraid they'd be pressured to make it less "kiddie". Wave that nerd flag loud and proud.

Edit : By less kiddie I mean more military-focused, grim, dark, gritty, etc. 343 has said they're giving the new trilogy a more mature tone, and I'm really excited about that, actually. I'll be happy to see the grunts be less slapstick, for example. But I'm also glad that 343 isn't downplaying the sci-fi nature of Halo in order to appeal to larger masses with narrow tastes.
