Just wanted to update you guys. Been slow going on the montage front. Computer problems ahoy, but Im past that.

Looking for some music ideas, anyone have any songs they think would work well?

I prefer electro, so expect that to influence the music choices, but I am open to whatever. Also I prefer less popular or indie music if possible.

Correct, the Legendary Edition comes with the full Limited Edition stuff, that includes the box.

It's not electro, nor would it necessarily be fitting for the Reach montage, but I've always wondered why I've never seen a Halo montage set to Boom Boom by Big Head Todd and The Monsters. Classic song, perfect lyrics to time clips to, etc. But that's probably just me.

I agree. The motion blur created like a double image of your character or object. I was kind of annoying. I wouldn't mind if they just used the same type of motion blur that Halo 3 did. I thought that looked pretty good.

Is there a way to filter only Bungie published articles through the b.net RSS feed? I like keeping up with what Bungie has to say ('Excavating The Pit', for example) but I don't care about any of the community stuff they publish.

I'm so excited for the Reach campaign blowout at E3. I hope it's as extensive as their unveiling for ODST was at last years show. Can't wait.

Aye. I'm really interested in its structure, and if any of the more open world ideas from ODST made it into any of the levels. There's enough to Reach that we're in for a long series of major reveals between now and September. I love the steady drumbeat of goodies as launch approaches.

Yeah definitely. I wonder if they will unveil the new and improved Firefight at E3 or wait til it's closer to launch.

This right here. The thing I was most excited for about ODST was the hub, it turned out to be the most disappointing thing about it but it was understandable since ODST was a much smaller project.
I've probably spent twice as much time playing the Reach beta than I have with ODST.

It's still a fucking awesome idea and if they did it right it'd be perfect for Halo. They haven't mentioned anything like a hub at so far so if I had to guess it won't be in there, but they haven't said much about the campaign so there could be some game-changing surprises waiting for E3.

I'd go so far as to say it would be a step backward for the series to revert to the traditional series of linear levels. I enjoyed the hub world in ODST more that you did, but given the limited scope, it really was just a sketch of what they could pull off on a full project like Reach. I don't want Halo: GTA, but there's ample room to explore the idea, as ODST showed.
 
I can't stop laughing at how horrible of an idea a hub would be for Reach. Holy crap.

Unless it was just a ship or something you could explore, great. But having levels attached to one focal point, wtf?

I want the planet to get worse and worse as the levels move forward. I want varying levels that change with the story and location. Covanent ships, fields, atmospheric battles in low earth orbit, cities, etc.

I think the best part about odst was how they found a way to create human levels that didn't look butt ugly.

I didn't mind the hub, the only thing I really disliked was the lack of interior spaces, the sorta 1 dimension gameplay (it'd be nice to traverse the catwalks or roofs once in a while), and the abrupt dead ends.

That said I think the overall level design, and misisons based around the levels are awesome. I'd kill to try out the entire hub over world in a 100x100 battle.

This.

A Hub world worked for ODST because of the way that game's plot was constructed, but would make no goddamn sensewhere the planet is literally being glassed over the course of the game. Hub worlds remove all sense of urgency from the plot. It's hard to make it feel like the world is ending if you can just tool around aimlessly and pick of random enemies.

It's normally early September/late August. At least, that's when my new school starts. I'm hoping I can wait to reserve the Limited until then.

I like the stuff recommended by les papillons sexuels. I think something without lyrics is the way to go.

I'm of the belief that in order to deliver the most immersive and fleshed out world/experience a game needs to be in first person and open-world. The only reasons I wouldn't want a developer to go down that route is that no ones really mastered how to match the quality of encounters and set-pieces that are much more easily set up in the tightly controlled linear level designs. I think Half-Life does the best job at creating a believable world from entirely linear levels, even then subsequent play-throughs sorta break the illusion.

If it's completely linear or more accurately the wide-linear the better Halo levels have been in the past I won't complain and I'll enjoy it as much as I have in the past, it's just I definitely the path I think Halo/Bungie should go down.

Sure, if they are still up, I will take some. Time is running out, and I may miss any you submit, so rule of thumb is PM me them (you are good kibbles for the 1 clip, but the others if they are rendered, send me a pm with the links if you still want to submit them) and I will consider them. Who knows though when they will be taken down.

I didn't have enough minutes to render in HD, but both 2 & 3 should be rendered soon. (I finally signed up for Bnet Pro towards the end of the beta)

edit: aaaaand done. Sick kills. I bet that hammer guy was cursing up a storm after that. :lol

I will do this if the final product plays more like Halo 1, 2, and 3 instead of what the Reach Beta was.
