Halo Reach Forge |OT| - Create, Share & Kill

Would anyone be willing to adopt a map of mine? It's about halfway done geographically (it may or may not have weapon spawns done for what's been built, I can't remember). The overall layout is confusing to explain--think Orbital meets Chiron, but good. There are a lot of close-quarters rooms with very infrequent levels of elevation, and currently no teleporters. It would probably be best with 2-6 players. If anyone wants it, I'll put it on my fileshare so they can go through it. I'm also planning on building a highway map--however, it may end up being more for my machinima than an actual gameplay map.

Feel free to post pictures up here or even links to the file in your Reach File Share. We have enough Forgers here that would be glad to help out. Just make sure the basic Initial Spawn and Respawn points are in and that is enough for people to check it out and give you some feedback.

Alright, but when I say adopt, I literally mean adopt--I mean, someone else would basically take the map and finish/revise it however they wanted. I really don't know where else to go with the map at this point. I'll get some pics up shortly.

You could always try and co-op build the map with someone from ForgeGAF. TBH, I think it would be better if you built the map yourself but we will help you as much as we can.

Pics would be good and we can give you some advice then.

Depending on how it looks I may take a crack at it. If it catches my fancy.
 
Okay, I uploaded the map and a walkthrough, because it's kind of cramped for pictures. I don't have weapons or spawns, though I did put an initial spawn/respawn in the map. I don't have pro, so if someone would be willing to render that (just SD is fine), I'd appreciate it.

EDIT: Thanks, it's rendered. Also, the only teleporter that's going to end up staying there in the end was the one I shot at. The others are just for moving around.

been out of town all week and i'll be spending time with my wife and daughter, so no forge meet up for me. this also means i havent spent any time on my maps since last weeks testing, so truss, oppidum, and mind the gap will return next weekend. i'm really looking forward to hearing how the *new truss is received, it certainly looks better =)

The last 8 hours or so have been consumed by forging, a decision that results in me feeling like death but with a finished map.

Lynched

Quite similar to Hang 'em High and Tombstone, a symmetric map designed for 4v4 objective and Slayer games. Supports all variants of CTF, Assault, Stockpile, Headhunter, King of the Hill, Oddball, Territories, Slayer, with CTF, Assault, and Slayer in mind. Rockets spawn on center platform, with snipers on either end on the short bridges and shotguns in the high bunkers.

If you guys have some extra time tomorrow in customs, maybe a 2 Flag CTF or Team Slayer game? DMR or AR/Magnum starts are fine, there are plenty of ranged weapons on the map in either case.

Just tweaking Sheol now I have come back from work. Will upload to FS as soon as possible.

Done the tweaks I wanted to and uploaded to my File Share.

Wanted to play around with escalation within a map. Bottom area is a spawn area with a shotgun in the middle. Lots of cover so teams can hide until the next part kicks in. After 30 seconds the Green and Purple Teleports and lights spawn, letting people access the second level and the Grenade launcher. After 60 seconds, the Man-cannons spawn which lets them access the top tier and the Rocket Launcher. The weapons are linked to those spawns, so you can still get there with Jetpack but nothing up there yet.

It might work or it might be rubbish. I might have to make the upper levels a little bigger or tweak the spawning times. I am not having much luck with maps currently. :D

Might be ok for 4v4 but I might need to make it a bit bigger since it could be cluttered.

Truss.b is in my file share. this "b" version is 98% the same as the old one, but rebuilt from the ground up so that everything looks and lines up properly. a few slight tweaks have been made, some may alter the gameplay significantly though.
- added an elevated platform in front of each base with a sniper rifle (150s respawn, 0 spare clips). the idea was to make the front of the bases a more defensible position and to combat the raised portion of the bridges. hopefully the snipers wont be too powerful, and that is the reason i limited the spawn times AND the ammo.
- added a massive "dance floor" around the rocket launcher for better tug of war over that power weapon.
- tweaked lower bridges by removing some of the columns and adding various ramps to change up sight lines.
- removed a bit of cover on the upper bridges to open them up for better movement.
- added lights to the front of each base for a bit easier orientation. this was possibly with the free'd up budget i had after the rebuild.

currently, only supports CTF and slayer. Recommended for 10-16 players.

i'd like to have the map tested this weekend (community slayer and/or CTF), but as a last minute addition on a week were it doesnt seem like we'll be attracting a large crew, i'll understand if its held off till next time.

NOKYARD, I'd also like to ultimately submit this to the cartographers - its been cleaned up significantly and seems like its been really well received in the past for objectives. i think it should be a strong slayer map now as well.
 
Hi everyone I have been spending most of my time over in the Reach GAF, however I was wondering if someone would be willing to help me set up spawns and objectives on a map I have recently created.
 
Sorry I didn't get Deluge ready for you guys, but goddamn, Dragon Age II has been absorbing my time like a sponge. I'll try and have it ready for you next week. Better yet, I'll try and join you next week, as well.

I have an issue with one of the maps I'm working on. It's symmetric, but it's mirrored. I did this, so I could have symmetric and asymmetric gametypes play differently on the same map. The issue is that Slayer is considered an asymmetric gametype, but I want it to perform symmetrically (meaning teams spawn at the symmetric bases, not asymmetric bases). Right now, it is completely random which of the two they will spawn at. Am I going to have to set the ones to only spawn during Slayer?

If you decide to mess with it, the spawn zones that have another on top of them are the ones I want for Slayer.

I was wondering if someone could give me a hand tomorrow.

This week's Bungie All Star contest is about using rocks on forgeworld to create something.

I'd like to make a statue of Rocky... out of rocks.(yes. I know)

Could someone decently good at this give me a hand or at least some tips?

Any kind of help would be appreciated

You know how Condemned is split into a bunch of rooms? Would it be possible to make a small scale invasion match where you have to breach into the rooms. Perhaps the last one would be the one with the big window.

Feel free to steal.

Hmm, that could work really well. The low-grav room would make for a neat Invasion stage.

I'll look into what I can do. I'm not sure if I want to continue with the last project I started and watershed is almost ready to leave the nest

Anyway, I'm close to finishing version 1.4 of Yeti Dome. I'm adding CTF support and also fixing a few issues. Will post download link when finished.

ForgeGAF! We need to have a Tempest Awareness Event! If anyone has the Noble DLC, time to start making and using Tempest to make some of your maps. Other than having a different looking area to build in, you also get the framerate improvements from a smaller zone.

That reminds me of what you were saying about the combined-gametypes idea yesterday.

Imagine an Infection game where the human team must cooperate in order to detonate bombs and progress through the map.

Basically, similar to Invasion but with Infection rules.

I would love it if we could combine different gametypes within 1 game. Similar to how Invasion works in stages, so you could start with Assault, then it moves on to KotH and ends with slayer.

That's essentially the concept for my third map, a smaller-scale Invasion map set in the Colosseum. I'm going for a specific ebb and flow that will be different than the normal steady escalation of regular Invasion.

(And I keep forgetting to put Crossfire in file share. I did make about 2/3 of the changes I wanted to make so far, though. Tonight!)

I have a massive layout for a BTB map, and I'm thinking of running a competition to see what ForgeGAF can create...

Basically you download the basic template I have created, and then try to build a map out of it.

Anyone interested in something like that?

lol I have actually had that same idea (I think I have a template and everything). I am certainly down to try something like that. It might finally get me to finish a map. I have somewhere around 10 unfinished maps ranging from just the basic outline to all I need to do is place weapons and spawns.
