I don't know why you or anyone else would think the loadouts on longer cooldowns would slow down the game when the game was perfectly fine sans them. The only reason AAs sped the game up as much as they did was because of bloom + slow movement + strong grenades they implemented in Reach.

You said it sister... slow movement. Reach without AA's is slow slow slow... the maps with said default movement are even worse. There is a reason MLG switched very quickly from just increased movement speed to sprint as default... and it had everything to do with speed of play and how that relates to competitive game types. I use MLG as an example because it is a distillation of game play and one can better see the effects of changes in load out.

You may have missed the part about balanced load outs. In games where everyone has sprint, a longer cool down can ONLY slow the game. The same if everyone had jetpacks or evade.

In games where load outs are mixed with different available starting AA's it could be a more effective balancing agent and would certainly change the chess match of counteracting load outs.

I don't really see how bloom slowed down the gameplay unless you're defining speed solely in terms of how long fire-fights last.

A game can have fast-paced action and gameplay, but still have long, dramatic, 'messy' fire-fights.

As for sprint increasing game speed, it does, but only for the people using it. I wouldn't mind seeing a 15% boost or so in movement speed (with the increase carried over onto Sprint as well), just to let those who want to use something other than sprint cross the maps a little more quickly.

Not to discuss a topic that has probably been discussed to death, but I seriously dislike the inclusion of equipment and AA's.

I see their inclusion as hindrance to an already perfect formula (when done right).

I would like to touch upon what you said. The inclusion of AA's, probably was a big reason why the movement (among other things) was designed that way it is. To make the AA's more prominent and more useful.

Right but if you speed up movement, tone down nades and take bloom out, then AAs can become more of a niche powerup rather than something necessary to spam in order to get back that quick competitive style.

I'm going to have to disagree. Games in which everyone can spam AAs regardless of whether they're all the same or not just makes for a game in which you're constantly battling the design of the AA not necessarily each other.

I have reverted back to my old Gamertag, so if you have CHOAM Company on your friends list, I will not be using that. If you remember my old tag, send me an FR.

I really wish they would play around with the concept of pickup AAs, it's frustrating that matchmaking is so rigid. Sometimes I might want to switch up to a different AA, and the only possible way to do it is to die. That's never been the case in a Halo game, and one of the things I always liked about them is that everyone started off kitted out exactly the same and scavenged the environment for what to use.

How cryptic, I dunno that one.

Pickup AAs at certain places on a map would have been far more useful anyway, at least in my opinion.

Having faster movement and no AA's as opposed to AA's and slow movement speed is ideal competitively because it brings some (not much) difficultly to shooting people. The strafe is shit either way, but having people much around faster helps a bit.

Also, saw some people talking about the DMR being a power weapon if there was an AR start gametype for a zero bloom gametype. Keep in mind that AR start so far has meant Magnum secondary in Reach, and assuming that doesn't change you will have a 5sk, no bloom, fast ROF Magnum on spawn if it is an AR start gametype which will easily be able to counter the DMR and in some cases being the superior weapon to the DMR.

Oh yeah I don't want AAs around but if we have to endure them I'd rather they be on slow cooldowns or be pickups. Right now it honestly seems like several firefights come down to battling the AA rather than the person.

I would prefer a video where someone uses a jetpack and is trying to get a view on the skybox. So awesome...

Thats actually slow by GAF standards

Haha probably, but I wasn't going to bring that up.

Also, I finally watched the MP panel and the guy asking about Xbox Live had me rolling? All the guys on the panel were clearly thinking, what the hell is this guy talking about?

I am pretty sure there was a giant collective felling of "The fuck?" that we could all feel lol

Seriously that question was just so bad...so bad.

I was sitting right next to that guy too when he asked.

Feeling the awkward...

I saw that skybox and my pan-cam sense started tingling.
I really want to know how epic the skybox of Hang'em high is. Because Headlong's skybox isn't epic like the skybox of Solitory according to IGN's leaked video.

Did you rush to the bathroom afterwards to clean the stupid off?

I actually ran into Frankie beforehand, and asked to shake his hand and he replied "Well you better do it now.", smiled, shook, and then ran to the bathroom.

But yeah, I had to clean up after that splatter of stupid.

It looked definitively Forerunner.

Lots of blues and energry thingamajiggers, and verdant greens outside, if memory serves.

Someone i know mentioned that Wu's Duke #1 was stolen. Is this true?
lol, no... Though for a while there I did have Wu's #1 controller in my hand... The look on his face when I was like "Look what I got!" is something that I will not soon forget. But fret not, Wu has his and I have mine, all is well.

Did we meet?

I didn't talk with Frankie at Halo
.bungie.org
Fest. I only shaked his hands at the entrance last Thursday evening. I don't know if he knew how I was. lol.

What about having your beard combed by a total stranger? Would you be more weirded out by the person doing it or the lack of knowledge as to where the comb has been?

...on an unrelated note, it was probably good I wasn't there.

The outside has the vortex/storm.

I really wish they had been selling HaloFest shirts, 343 shirts, or any Halo shirts that werent just a massive noble team graphic. The 117 shirt is pretty badass but is only for 343 employees which is a bummer. Since there were no shirts I ended up bring back 4 grunt plushies for friends lol

Those pics were great Devin.

Anyone else prefer zero bloom with a capped ROF rather than half bloom or the like? Different percentages of bloom sounds rather murky, although Shiska did say we'd be surprised at how much even 85% bloom makes the precision weapons more deadly so who knows. I guess I was just focused so much on zero bloom in the lead up to the TU reveal that a slider for bloom was completely unexpected. I seriously hadn't even considered that possibility. The TU cannot come soon enough now.

For those who played zero bloom, do you think it makes the game significantly better, to the point where the vast majority of the Reach population would abandon traditional Reach altogether?

Job, bro.

Also, I did you enjoy the Halo CEA 3D with Kevin?
Yes CEA in 3D is wild. It is some of the better looking 3D that I have seen to date to be quite honest.

The initial feeling when they toggle over to 3D is hard to explain, but it definitely takes a minute or two to adjust your eyes to it. After that though it is great. Seeing a grunt run past you in 3D is great, and the needler reload is better than I could have imagined.

CEA 3D may be the reason I look into seriously buying a 3D TV.

You guys got way too much swag for a common mortal to handle.

Forward some of it to me. I shall give it a good home. Swag will be free to room the plains and have unlimited access to my porno stash.

They did. But the t-shirts were sold out very fast. I can't wait for the 343i store where they sell the awesome Monitor hoodie. I want one. So bad.
